If you wish for an easy and ridiculously easy fight that goes faster than the final boss in FFX, use Knights of the Round. If you wish for a challenge, don't use it......

I didn't even get Supernova used on me once. That fight took like half a minute

No, not duh!! You'd think they would have been smart enough to realize something like "hey, this summon is overpowered to the extreme. Why don't we make the final boss a bit more difficult so someone doesn't make it as easy as the first boss in the game". Glad they changed that....somewhat. FFX and X-2 had ridiculously easy bosses too, but at least it didn't take 1 hit.....well, X-2 it didn't.

AND WHAT KIND OF ENDING SCENE WAS THAT!? THAT IS NOT HAPPENING RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME RIGHT NOW!!!

They're only getting off the hook because Advent Children Complete and Dirge of Cerberus are there for sequels

To be fair the game alters the final boss based on your performance in the preceding battles. My first playthrough I didn't have it yet when I fought him, then I went back and did post game stuff and decided to come back and do it again. I used KOTR on Jenova to knock her out quick and get to the good stuff and then Sephy handed my ass to me with a side of fries.

I fought Jenova fast enough to get 2 groups, and wasn't even really trying at that point, and when I fought the first form I didn't even need to switch groups. I just stuck with my first group the whole way, beat him using slash-all and KOTR, and with the final form I didn't even really get time to set up my Wall, Haste, and Regen. I just limit break, KOTR, attacked, and finished. Never even saw the Highwind Limit Break, and I had Cit in my party just for that.

Also, I'm disappointed in how little of a role Sephiroth played in the last bit of the game, and didn't even really get a scene for the last 1/3 or quarter. I'm still confused on where that final bout with him took place, whether it was real or in Cloud's head or something else, and that ending scene kind of pissed me off more than anything. I mean, a cliffhanger is fine, but they just didn't seem to do it right.

The best part about all of this is I've now seen all of the story of FF7...that I can, since a lot of things aren't in English, like Before Crisis and the books that take place in-between stuff, but I'm still confused about the main game's plot and whatnot. Argh, the only thing I got out of this was getting my timeline less jumbled. Is it strange that I found the series easier to understand without playing the game? Maybe it's just the translation issues, but jeez-louize

It's funny because the battle against Safer Sephiroth is actually supposed to get harder or easier in several different ways depending on a number of variables that you have control over in the previous battle and one of the things that's supposed to make it harder is using Knights of the Round. I'm pretty sure a couple others are related to KotR, but that's the one I remember. So they were thinking about that and designed the final chain of battles specifically to balance against it, but it didn't work at all.
