Yeah, that one obscure anime. I want to get some opinions from various parties cause I've never seen an episode but keep hearing/seeing countless references now. What do y'all think?

I've also heard that it's good, but I refuse to watch it until it is finished so that I can watch it all at once.
Unless you want to catch up to only have to wait each week for a new episode.

    HAH!

    Anyway
The anime is moving at a snails pace at the moment so it's hard to determine if it's good or not until after it's over.
Just do the three episode rule. Watch 3 episodes and if you don't like it then drop it.

    Or ideally, read the manga.

It's not bad, but I'm finding it hard to give a damn about any of the characters other than Potato Girl.

Only thing with this is it only updates once a month. The chapters are all pretty meaty though (40+ pages on average) so it should take a good amount of time.

Or two days if you read it nonstop. >_>

As the others have said it is still continuing (even the manga), but it is fairly well-received because of its realistic situational and emotional portrayal and creativity of setting, among other things. So I certainly recommend taking a look; it shall not hurt and you may become a fan as well. It is fairly dark, fair warning; not as dark as some of the other things out there but dark nonetheless. Three episode rule is a good idea! Many consider it the best of the season, in some respects.

The music in the anime is top notch too, along with what everyone else said.

    - The art is INCREDIBLE
    - Conceptually brilliant
    - Pacing/Passage of time is lacking and inconsistent
    - Very dramatic
    - 10/10 OST
    - No particularly good characters
    - Keeps you at the edge of your seat
    - Very different from anything else to come out within the last few years

Overall, I'd give it an 8.5/10 so far, and I haven't even read the manga yet. Would definitely recommend.

I recommend it. I mean, as long as you're not going into it with unrealistic expectations and assuming it's going to be the greatest thing you've ever seen in your life, it's a great watch and a fun ride so far. It is kind of difficult to watch, considering every episode ends at a cliffhanger and then you have to wait a week to know whats up [ which sometimes isn't even executed in the next ep ], but that's some of the fun of it when you talk to other people about the series.

Given all these posts, I think I'll wait for the series to finish, and then give it the Three Episode Rule.

The start of the anime was very good is full of action, but after the potato girls clutch scene its just been flopping and really doing nothing but talking and leaving the action for the end which is really getting very annoying. At first I thought it was a god tier anime for initially I didn't even want to watch it.I hear the manga is a lot better in terms of actions so its really if you want the action more read the manga. If you want to see all those jaw dropping visuals then watch the anime

No seriously, this series is not as good as any of these people say. I like it and I wouldn't rec it unless I knew you were looking for a new Gantz to follow.

A manga about a bunch of bug hybrids fighting ****** roaches.
    I'm dead serious.

Content and story wise it's pretty bad.
But if you like to see violence and outrageous bug **** then by all means check it out.
But Gantz stopped being good a long time ago

The point of it is the violence, not unlike Shingeki or Gantz or Zetman. They're all in the *****stearingshitapart subgenre.

Yeah, that's why I'd rec something to replace it for them.

I'd believe that if it didn't try and make me sympathize with character deaths and wasn't taking itself seriously.
Gantz isn't about the violence. It has a lot of violence and sex but that's just because it's a seinen. The manga is mostly character driven and places much emphasis on character interactions.
Shingeki isn't about the violence either as Shingeki takes itself seriously. It raises questions to be pondered, makes a note of fleshing out the squad members and is overall a very story driven manga. It also does a lot of world building.

For the violence would be something like Hellsing in which there is in fact little mention of any story. It merely sticks with it's premise of "Hellsing hunts down the bad guys" and goes from there. Or Highschool of the dead which doesn't even HAVE a story.
