Site News As you all probably noticed...

We were hacked earlier today.

This one, thankfully, was not to the magnitude of the ones in the past; as those of you who tried to access the forum during this time saw, the site would redirect you to a different page. The redirects have been removed, and problems with the styles & templates are being fixed as we speak.

We don't believe we lost any post/thread information, either.

If you are having any problems using the normal functions of the site please report it in this thread.

I didn't notice any major damage on my end.
All of my posts were still here when I returned from school.

I did, however, hesitate to log in for over an hour, because the password in the top login bar wasn't encrypted.
I then got the idea to try and PM someone as a guest so I would get the no permission page, and I logged in that way.

 

Also Ron if you are reading this, change your password to something stronger kthnx.

 

Thanks, i had no idea we were hacked though, happy everything's back to normal. But I have to say, i'm glad the admin's and such were able to understand and find the problem before anything too bad happened. *Sigh* I love Kh-vids.....

KHV really needs to be safer with the login info and such. Y'know?

 

I figured we were hacked. Glad to see I wasn't the only one. In any case I'm glad nothing was affected too much.

 

Umm just because it shows your password doesn't mean it isn't encrypted...

I am 99% sure that is just a bug that appeared once the previous username thing was added on. I have had that happen to me 100's of times since then (I log in a lot).

But seriously you can't tell if something is encrypted or not just by looking at it. lol

 

Hey, Misty or Okabe.

When in the advanced editor (when replying, editing, etc.), that white border is still around the "Posting Permissions" box.

 

I missed this whole hacking issue. I'm glad I did though, you never know what the hacker (Phil I believe?) can see and/or do. I'm glad everything is sorted out and thank you guys for taking care of this stupid threat.

 

I never recommend insulting the person that does things like this. It isn't the best idea.

So it's all working good! What does that Phil guy think? Maybe he hasn't anything to do. Pitiful. These hackers don't knows reality.

 

Thankfully I missed this hacking bit, and thank goodness it wasn't as severe as the last one where we all time warped.

I am going to ask you and everyone else to stop assuming all hackers are the same. Sure khv getting hacked sucks but not every single person that hacks is a "no life". Plus I am going to mention this again. Do you really think it is a smart idea to insult someone in a "hostile" situation. This could have been the same case. He had control at one point so insulting him or otherwise could cause him to want to do something again and out of anger which is a lot worse. So please just stop it already.

 

I'm going to have to side with Muscles here for a bit. I went back and read many posts calling the guy out. I get it, you're angry, but try to keep that to yourselves if you can. Posting where he can see it not only gets him his 15 seconds of fame (which is what he wanted in the first place), but if it gets him riled up enough, he could do a lot more damage, and we will end up seeing another time warp as staff try to salvage what's left of KH-Vids if it gets to that point.

 

I noticed the site was down again the other night was there another hack or was there just something wrong site itself?

The site being down doesn't instantly mean it was hacked.
