Maybe, it depends on the cost. I am however intrigued since my DS got stolen before I could buy the original, so I only got to play it on my friend's DS.

So....am I the only one that is excited for this?

I guess I will just go play it on my iPad now...with no friends.

The new sprites aren't even HD, they're vectors. It's pretty damn lazy.
Also I TRULY hope what you said is completly wrong otherwise Square is gonna blame no TWEWY sequel on "lol nobody got the ****** ipad version so that means nobody wants a sequel".

Agreed. On one hand, I like them, but on the other, I hate them for TWEWY.

And yeah, that's probably what'll happen. But as long as it's possible, I have my hopes that people will buy it just because it's nearly impossible to find nowadays. My local Gamestop gave me a good $50 for my copy because everyone wants it but nobody sells it.

I rarely say this but to actually be genuinely excited by this you MUST be some sort of Square Enix drone.
The game has completly stripped the original game of everything that made it what it is. The spirtes are lazy vectors and there's little to no extra content whatsoever according to 2chan.
If you like the game is entierly up to you but it being an inferior port is undeniable and I see no way you could be excited for this.

Ok then tell me how you would incorporate a DS port on a one screen touch pad tablet?

    Right.

I would rage as well...if I had completed the original DS version.

I WOULDN'T MAKE PORT OF A GAME THAT WAS DEFINED BY IT'S DUAL SCREEN GAMEPLAY ONTO A SYSTEM WITH ONE SCREEN

It'd be like porting Wario Ware Wii to the Xbox WITHOUT the use of Kinect.

You could not port it to a platform where that would be an issue. The game was very specifically designed to make use of the two screens. It was fun because it was well designed. This compromises the design at its core. It was a decision that was made based on money and involved nothing but money. This wasn't made for players in the end. It was made to see how much money they could make on a cheap rehash.

So...basically what you are telling me is that you will never be a marketing director for a major game corporation who is having issues selling games in the Western Market due to vastly improving US made games, all the while trying to expand its territory in the very new and very exciting world of table/phone gaming by putting some of its most successful games onto these new systems?

    Cool.

I wouldn't really say that it's inferior, just not what TWEWY is supposed to be. It seems to be the same story applied to a different game. Well, maybe not, but I can't think of any other way to say it. It's a defendable game that seems worth the hype, but not something that would be worth it to someone who has played, enjoyed, and still owns the original. I'd get it just because I never managed to get any use out of the "social" aspect of the original. That said, a 3DS remake in which the iDevice and original controls/graphics are available would be great. I would honestly like to see how it plays on one screen, even if it's not very good. Blah, I can't defend this anymore.

Then how else would you expand TWEWY's reach? do a remake on the 3DS where you could simply put in the DS card?

Its a marketing move to get more people to play/buy

I don't understand why you are all so upset. If this sells well this will put more coals in the fire for a sequel.

No need. Make a new game for the new platform rather than bastardizing the old one. The game was made. It's over. It's time to move on to the next one.

It's a compromise of artistic integrity to make money because they can't make it by legitimately making more good games. They're clinging to a success from the past. The only way to progress is to move forward and do new things.

A sequel on the iPad which will just be another watered down waste of time. Thanks.

    Holy ****
So the defense for a half assed cash in is because it's financially better for the company?
    1. Square Enix as of right now doesn't need any money, the new Dragon Quest game and Dream Drop Distance have been topping sales charts for weeks now
    2. Square Enix has never showed signs of wanting to expand outside of Japan. The reason they release games out here is because either we manage to ***** about it until they do or because it's just extra money in their pocket.
    3. There are games that can be ported to tablets with no problem and games that shouldn't. The World Ends with you is THE LAST game I would EVER port to anything that isn't a 3DS and I'm sure a billion other people feel the same. You act as if them making a tablet game is a sign of expanding horizons. It's not, everyone makes tablet games nowadays because everyone owns one and they're relatively cheap to make and people who use tablets typically tend to not have other handhelds and so happen to eat up this **** because it's the only **** they can have.

    It's a cheap cash in
I don't even think Jupiter had a say in this.
How much **** are you gonna let Square feed you?

You forgot the fact that US made games aren't really improving at all.

You are thinking with your heart not your head.

Its a business move, nothing more.

two handheld games are not gonna be able to keep a company the size of SE open. Yes, they actually do need money because they have been coming out of a long slump financially. http://kotaku.com/5803573/a-planet-without-square enix

They need to make as much money as they can. That is the name of the game.

If this were the case they they might as well become a small company that makes other peoples games and does no IP's at all.
Just because some of their games never make it state side doesn't mean they don't want them to...it might be because the US market wouldn't respond well to the material and thus the cost of dubbing it would be far more expensive than simply keeping in it Japan.

That is simply and opinion. I agree an iOS is probably not the best device for this game.

BUT. It is the fastest growing gaming market.

So yeah. I would put it in the app store.
