Anime is simply a shortened way to say 'Japanese Animation' and that means its for all ages. So you basically just said "HARDCORE PEOPLE WATCH ANIME AND EVERYONE ELSE'S CARTOONS ARE FOR BABIES"

Look at Venture Bros, Superjail, Ralph Bakshi, etc are those anime? no. Are they directed towards children? no.
Look at Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Pokemon, Doraemon, etc are those anime? yes. Are they directed towards children? yes.

Do not round up something and specifically call one for children and one for adults.
