I really don't care if you don't give a flying hoot about offending others, but I can still enforce the rules regardless of what it is you believe. Notice how the rules address both sides of the issue.

I don't think I need to repeat what others have said, but there, educate yourselves on these rules. It'll be good for you.

 

Feel free to let people know when what they actually break the rules instead of bringing them out just because someone said they did not care about offending someone. Trying to offend others and not caring if they get offended are two different things.

There is no need to bring out the rule sheet for the second one.

 

Thank you for your observation. But I can quote the rules as I see fit. Enforcing the rules and quoting the rules are two different things (whereas my intentions are something else, of course)

Moreover, the rule does not only apply to intentional attacks. It also pertains to things said unknowingly (yet to a much lesser extent due to lack of 'intent') it's why the rules address the offended and the offender, sometimes accidents happen. A simple misunderstanding that can be fixed by talking about it.

The two are by no means mutually exclusive. If you don't care that you offend someone in something you've said, you might as well have gone in with such an intent in the first place.

If you do not care about offending someone, its clear you have no respect for their feelings (them) either, which actually breaks one of the rules Chevalier posted.

This is not a cue for a debate in general for anyone, but just a reminder to please respect one another, as well as try to avoid taking things straight to heart in the SpamZone, as Fork and Chev have done.

On the topic though, I agree with Styx. People who complain about the singles are just as bad as the people who complain about bring single.

 

Punishing someone because someone else mistook what they said does not make a lot of sense to me. I am not saying that you did that here, but if you ever do, it will be senseless.
