This too. My life totally sucked when I lost my chance with a girl I'd liked for more than 3 years, but it helped when I started to think straight. Nobody dies from being single for some time, least of all at a young age.

Still, I must say it is discouraging for a bunch of people to say "Oh, you're such a nice guy!" and call you attractive, and yet never in 19 years have at least one relationship :<

But whatevs, I wouldn't really be able to support a girlfriend in my current financial state. No car + No job = No girl's impressed.

    Yes; madly in love.

Love is taking that dive, and then getting really comfortable and peeing in the pool.

You know what screw you guys, I am allowed to be sad that I am not in a relationship :V

Is it really such a horrible thing that I see people and how happy they are in relationships? Is it so horrible and weak that I see kids hugging each other waiting in line and I want that same thing? Am I so vulnerable because I want somebody to cuddle up and watch a movie with? I am not ashamed.

Its ok to be sad, I've been there plenty of times, but there's a certain point where you just have to move on. I'm sure all the girls will be with me when I say that nobody wants to date a "Donnie Downer" or whatever its called.

(this comes from the guy who's liked how many girls and hasn't dated one yet)

Yeah, I don't mind being single (because I probably wouldn't have been able to move to the US if I wasn't so I really like the independence), but the fact that I haven't had one real relationship at 20 makes me a little worried.

Maybe I'm not exactly the 'typical' girl and don't hang out with an extremely feminine bunch, but the guys financial situation would not bother me at all. As long as he is able to support himself I'll gladly pay for at least my portion of the dates, drive or take the sub or whatever. Maybe if I was planning on starting a family it would bother me, but I'm not gonna be ready for that for about a decade, so there's no need to worry about that now.

You'll be the first person I've heard say that then. But its also partly an issue with a man's pride when he can't treat his girl, and it was definitely awkward for my friend when his girlfriend had to constantly cover him cause she had a car and a job, and he didn't.

Well I haven't the pride for the driving thing because I legally cant drive, but I worry how that will effect a relationship all the time.

    ...You can drive...

On topic: that's another reason I've avoided dating, as a man I want to be the one paying for everything and driving the girl to places and stuff, and I can't do those things :/

It's not so much like Hayabusa in that it bothers me that a girl wants that, it's that I also want it, so that sucks.

i don't know about other girls but when guys think that they have to do everything for a me it makes me feel like they think i can't hold my own. i could pay for my own coffee and stuff it is not a big deal. but that is just me, i don't like people standing up for me because it makes me feel week so that might be why, but still.

It's not that you can't, but that you shouldn't have to. You are with me, I can take care of you. I want to. That's the idea.

Funnily enough though, if I dated a guy, I would be totally cool with him being the one driving me everywhere and paying for me. I guess I'm just weird like that.

It's not about fairness, it's about I am a man and you are a girl and that's what I'm supposed to do. And that I want to do it.

It's not a matter of what "should be done", but what feels right in a person's opinion of his or her role in a relationship. Not everyone shares this idea of traditional male-female relationships y'know.

But you're right, its what you want to do. Just don't confuse it with what's supposed to be done. Not all relationships are the same.

No. But there's a difference between someone wanting it and someone's life revolving around it (which is semi-what I was referring to.) The amount of people who seem to think that being in a relationship is the only thing in life that could possibly make them happy is saddening, to say the least. It honestly annoys me, personally, when someone's consistent 'life problem' has something to do with the fact that they're romantically lonely. It's natural to be sad about the single life, and to feel lonely sometimes, but when the only reason someone is miserable and depressive and feels like life is meaningless is because they're not dating someone, it's sad.

This of course, becomes more understandable with age. I'd probably sympathize more with someone older than thirty, witnessing friends and family getting married and having children, alone for like 20 years.

    That's an interesting perspective.

I somewhat have an issue with that? I mean, idk. Everyone on this forum is relatively young, lol. I was dating someone on KHV for a while, and now we live together. I pay for everything. Every date. I also paid his way for school. I recently got a car, and I drive us everywhere. Before then, I paid for the bus. I bought him a bus pass. At one point, I gave him my money, so he could pretend to take me on a date and I could pretend not to be paying for it. /lame

He took me to prom last year. I paid for his tux and shoes. I paid for my own flowers and corsage, excluding everything else I paid for. I paid for his plane tickets. I pay for the groceries, gas. I bought him a new wardrobe, bed, etc.

I was fine paying for everything, starting out. But honestly, 9+ months of catering to someone who makes no effort whatsoever to do anything... yeah. That's kind of a bother. I'm independent and can pay for my own things, but I guess that I'd prefer an equal partnership. I can't psychically or financially depend on him for squat. I guess, for me, it would actually feel nice to be taken care of, at least once, for one day.

That's not quite what I mean. I think both the guy and the girl should pay for there fai part. It is ok for a guy to occasionally treat a girl but at the same time they should let the girl pay for some things.

I think what you mean is, both people in the relationship should be self-sufficient, but never should rely on the other completely, nor baby the other at the same time. Right?

Agreeing, to an extent? That's what I'm saying by partnership. Whether it's for some of the more serious things that I mentioned, or just for dates and stuff, I would prefer either us both paying for ourselves, or treating each other from time to time. I don't think it should just fall on the guy, nor do I think it should all fall on the girl ... in my case. lolol. But I am not opposed to being taken care of in any case.
