Are you Emo just becuase you listen to My Chemical Romance?

I listen to mychemical romance but i am not emo!A lot of people are saying if you listen to them you are emo though..Is that true?


The only reason i am so mad is because people are calling me emo..I only have 2 mcr songs on my iPod any way...Welcome to the Black Parade and Helena...

But lots of are saying that if you have fall out boy and panic at the disco you are really emo!I don't understand really!

Emo is a word. No-one knows what it means. There is no exact definitions. Why should you even care what they say? If they are that obsessed with stereotyping and grouping you you're better off not knowing them.

EDIT: And in answer to your question, no it doesn't. My mum listens to MCR sometimes because she likes a few of their songs. Does that make her emo? No. Liking certain music doesn't make you anything.

Many emos listen to MCR, many non-emos does listen to MCR.
Music clings different in peoples ears no matter what 'genre/group' they put themselves in.

True emo music is nothing like the bands that are labelled with it these days.

True emo is much more on the shouting/screaming side where you shout out your emotions and anger. Some what similar to the old says of punk.

It means emotional hardcore, and last time I checked MCR or Panic aren't in the hardcore genre. =/

Strerotypes say yes you are emo if you like MCR, but most sterotypes are wrong and are only said as an insult or to annoy you,

 

Though generally most emo people do listen to MCR you could say that.

But no, you aren't what you listen to.
