This reminds me of an old friend. I don't think this applies to every gamer, I mean, I play video games often. But I know when to step away from 'em. But some aspects are somewhat accurate in terms of the majority in these situations. The research makes sense. I don't think it should be a general statement, but I don't believe it's BS.

I just think it's a lack of self-control on the gamers part that makes them overweight. Plus, did they say that it was a random sampling of gamers? If not, then they can manipulate the statistics that they collected to show ONLY the negative effects.

Here are some examples of *somewhat* positive effects:

    -Wii Fit (lolfag)
-Rock Band drums (being able to control your feet and hands separately)
-God of War (just relieve some anger)

Now I know some of those examples are lame and such, but still, there are games out there that can positively impact someone.

Wii Fit is an abomination unto nature. Gaming and good health go together like fast food burgers and health go together. It's getting away from games that keeps you healthy.

But, it's still a video game. And it has positive health benefits...I guess...

Anyway, I'm pretty sure the study they performed was flawed to make video games seem harmful. They are in some cases, but to generalize like they did doesn't allow them to cover the entire spectrum of gamers.

Which is why I'm assuming that they slanted the data so that it was in their favor. Statistics is actually being used in real-life now!

as with a lot of things, you just have to use these things in moderation. of course someone who spends all their time playing video games will become overweight because they will have no time to excercise. but i really don't think a lot of people are like that. i don't think it's nessacarily video games that causes this, but who's to say that books can't cause the same thing to happen even though no one says anything negative about those.
