    Well, this is certainly interesting.

    A woman who walked into glass doors is suing Apple, asking for medical expenses and other things. Really, lady? You should have watched where you were going. Some people are just stupid.

    I can see the lawyer's closing statement now....

    Think putting a glass wall won't cause people to walk into them?
    Think they won't sue you?

    Think Different, Apple... Think Different.

    ....that lady has got to think things through a little more. I mean, sueing Apple because she herself walked into glass, as well as making it 1 million dollars

    I'll admit that this is all a little people will sue each other for these days . . .

    Fortunately, if she does end up somehow winning this case, it's not like Apple doesn't have the spending money.

    Just because.

    She's an old lady, her eyesight isn't probably the best--

    ... She's stupid. It's so funny how people think they can sue for anything that has ever happened.
    If she does get the money, I will laugh quite hard.

    Be right back guys, I'm gonna go sue that damn McDonalds on North and Wells, cause I didn't notice the 'pull' sign on the door, and tried to in stead push in such a hurry that I crashed into the door and bumped my head ;.;
    Or maybe I should sue Second City, since they've got rugs in almost all classrooms, and I like to fall down a lot during sketches, and now I have horrible rug burns that haven't left my body in over nine months D,;

    This is absolutely ridiculous. Take some responsibility for your actions lady, even if you ended up hurting yourself cause you didn't pay attention.

    It's amusing to see all of you jump the gun on this. Let me quote a little story on a lawsuit that a professor of mine once spoke about.

    Some time ago, a customer at McDonald's ordered coffee. Said customer accidentally dropped it and ended up getting some nasty burns. It was the guy's fault, right? He sued McDonald's for the injuries. Guess who won? The customer. McDonald's was heating their coffee up to higher temperatures than other businesses and was forced to pay up and lower the temperature of their coffee.

    I don't see the old lady getting a million out of it but with a good lawyer she can make decent case out of this. I'm hoping she wins. Despite owning an iPod, I really don't like Apple.

    £75 000 to fix a broken nose? Are medical expense really that steep? Dayum.

    I'm also surprised that she managed to break her nose. Did she run into the door or something?

    I'm kind of on the fence on this one. She strikes me as a bitter, entitled old lady with the amount that she is asking for but on the other hand, those glass doors annoy me too. They are accidents waiting to happen for old people or other sight-impaired people. |:

    How you break your nose from walking into a glass door is the same as how you break your nose walking into a pole. I mean, you either have to walk fast enough, or she was running.

    Really? You want her to win just because you don't like Apple? I mean, I'm not a fan either, but it's not like they should lose 1 million over something this trivial. I actually want to see if this seriously goes to court. After all, a good percent(I did learn that percent, but forgot it) of cases that get sent to court don't actually make it through because they're not important enough, or something like that. And besides, I really don't see how she could win. It's her own fault for walking into the glass

    I think this is just 'Suing for the sake of suing' I mean think of many people have walked in to glass doors because they didn't think anything was there? Also breaking her nose? I guess at her age that is possible if she was running in to it, and an 83 year old going in to Apple? I'm all for older people using stuff we young-en use, but I just don't see it, I dunno why I just can see an 83 year old using something made by Apple, maybe she was buying for a younger family member.

    I thought someone might bring this up, I couldn't get your opinion on it from your post but it's a common story to mention in these sorts of situations so:
    If you guys research the infamous "hot coffee" incident, you'll find some pretty shocking information. The story, first of all, was incredibly spun by the media and made to be another "haha, look at how stupid people are" anecdote. This case was almost entirely McDonald's fault and reflects horribly on them as a business.

    The woman in question (can't remember her name) was not driving her car, but was the passenger in it while I believe her son-in-law drove. She did indeed spill the coffee on herself, burning her legs, but it was not while the car was in motion (they were stopped in the McDonald's parking lot), nor was she operating the vehicle with the coffee cup between her legs. The cup was being held between her knees as she attempted to remove the top to add cream and sugar. She sustained third degree burns on over 6% of her body, was held in the hospital for over a week, and had to undergo skin grafting treatments. Don't look up the images for this because they will honestly make you lose your lunch. She attempted to settle for $20k, which McDonald's refused.

    McDonald's had a number of cases in the years up to this event but never did anything about it.

    McDonald's had an illegal policy that required their coffee to be heated and served at 180 degrees Fahrenheit, as opposed to the safer, legal temperate of 140 (82 and 60 respectively, for Celsius). Had the coffee been at or even slightly above that 140 degrees, there would have been no major burns.

    While the settlement was indeed large (it was equal to a day or two of coffee sales for McDonald's), it was partially cut because the woman was found partially responsible, and I believe that she didn't get very much in the end due to limitations on settlements in court cases. But I'm not positive on that and it's an entirely different issue.

    To get back on topic, yes people do stupid things, and suing over walking into some glass doors is pretty ridiculous, but do some research before you just say "oh, what a stupid woman! it's obviously all her fault!"

    That being said, Apple is not exactly hemorrhaging money, haha. What's $1mil to them?
