If you like vampire books I recommend Vampire hunter D, but be warned it is a bit more mature of a book.

Tamora Pierce is a great author if you want to look her up. She usually writes heroine stories that place in the middle ages. Knights, theives, and magic. It's a pretty young read too.

And if you like the old fairy tales (lil mermaid, snow white, etc.) try looking up the fairytales retold series. It's a collection of authors who rewrote the fairy tales into short books (around 150-200 pages or so.)

Just Like Ice Cream- it has more of a religious feel to it but it's really good. it's about a girl that get's pregnant in high school
In the Miso Soup- it's a murder mystery that was originally wrote in japan and then translated into english. it takes place in tokyos 'night life' district so its rather graphic and i suggest it only for a mature audience.
Heart Breakers, Love Rules- phenomanol<sp? book. it's about these 4 girls that're best frndz and 3 of them all lose their boyfrndz on the same day and the other girl was single to begin w/ and then make this code the -love rules- that they are all supposed to follow afterwards. it's very interesting and has a few obvious twists and turns but still good.
Water For Elephants- its about this old guy that's in a nursing home and it switches between the present him and flashbacks to his life in the circus.

I literally just finished a book called Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. It was very true to its title, and so lovely. I adored it to pieces.

Why is it that whenever I see these topics, I can never think of a list of books I love, even though I can think of them at any other time? I guess I can add more later.

For a unique fantasy, go for The Bartimeaus Trilogy. Give it a try.

    Bo-bo-bo-bo-bo-bo-bo is a great book.

It's manga, and it's really random, the annoying thing is, there is only one English copy, because apparently
"It's to crazy for the English!"
    ^^Seriously??^^

Another good book, is the Diamond Brothers books by Anthony Horowitz.

OHMYGOD... my fave books... that's a hard one =P I have a whole bookcase of books and read EVERY SINGLE ONE.

Well I like Black Beauty, and I like the Inheritance Trilo-- CYCLE (I was really annoyed when I found out it was a cycle.. and like 10 days after it came out..(i'm a hardcore reader =P).. now I have to wait about THREE YEARS for the last instalment =P) I like the SAGA of Darren Shan(especialy the first one, "Cirque Du Freak", The Hiccup books, The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness ("Wolf Brother, Spirit Walker, Soul Eater, Outcast, Oath Breaker and GHOST HUNTER!!!!!!1 (can't wait for that one)) and loads more but I'd bore you telling you all of their names =P

    ^ That actually sounds...entertaining. xD

If you're into a kind of sick, crude humor, read WHY WE SUCK by Dennis Leary. It makes fun of all the reasons America is ****ed up, but not in a "I want to get out of this country but I'm not leaving" way.

Other than that, Marley & Me is an amazing book, as is From Baghdad, With Love: A Marine, the War, and a Dog Named Lava. If you're a dog person I highly recommend those.

Might be kinda lame, but The Great Gatsby was actually good, one of the few books I actually enjoyed reading for school. The other was The Demon in the Freezer, which is about smallpox. Great book, but not for the faint of heart.
And for an awesome sort of look at the universe, read A Brief History of the Universe by Steven Hawking. Black holes, string theory, dimensions beyond the fourth...great stuff. 8D

I've been reading the Maximum Ride series and they're really good!
The only problem is that I read VERY fast and complete the next book I get in two night of reading them........

I really need a BIG book to read because I've read practically every book in the house - even my mum's!

I'm weird and I loved The Lord of the Flies when I read it in school. Same for Fahrenheit 451.

One of my favorite series of all time is the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld, very great books.
I also LOVED the novel Battle Royale, despite it being really long. Seventy-nine chapters, I believe.

Oh, and the Percy Jackson series. The last one just came out in May. ;D
