this is one of my all time favorites and almost no one has seen it ;__;
It's a little old ('99) and it wasn't a large-scale production so it really shows -- the animation can be pretty rough around the edges. In my opinion though it's a real hidden gem. Excellent music and the storyline is, to put it succinctly, Lord of the Flies... Iɴ Sᴘᴀᴄᴇ!
It's a Sunrise show but giant mechs aren't commonplace; it's mostly about the characters (they are trapped aboard a space ship and must try to survive together). I will say that it took me about 7 episodes or so to really get into it, but once it got good it was fantastic. As I recall, anyway. It's admittedly been a while.

I have nothing much to add because the good thread covered most of everything and I know you have watched some of the things I would recommend otherwise (thank you for downloading Tatami Galaxy).

That being said, try Ping Pong The Animation if you can deal with the unconventional art style. It is honestly anime of the season (sorry No Game No Life, I like you quite a bit but you are on the opposite end of the serious spectrum and meet another type of mood).

I downloaded Tsuritama yesterday so I will tell you how it goes. The first episode is cute and colourful.

And speaking of slice of life anime, you should watch Lucky Star if you haven't already!

Seriously though, Kubo writes comedy so well, why can't he just do that without the shounen?

 

Watch Puchimas first. It'd only take you about 4 hours to watch both seasons (Only about 2 mins per episode).

I'd agree but I dunno if iDOLM@STER is Nova's type of thing. I'd also recommend the manga (Even though it's just the anime I like the 4koma).
