I feel sorry for Light, but only after watching how pathetic he was in epsidode 37. Before that, I truly hated him. He was an utter ******. He killed innocent people just because they got in his way. He simply used Misa for her Shinigami Eyes, and after Mello managed to steal the Death Note he lashed out at her even though she was trying to help. She loved him more than anything, and in the end he just threw her aside in favour of Takada. So, I feel sorry for Misa. Then, when Takada is kidnapped and left cold, alone and scared, Light kills her. So I feel sorry for Takada. He got rid of those two women wo loved him in exchange for Mikami, who in the end he blamed for his own failings. L was just about his only friend and he had him killed without a second thought. Finally, when the game was up he tried to twist into his favour the last person who ever believed in his innocence - Matsuda. Light was so obviously sick and corrupted that the mild-mannered Matsuda forgot about justice and tried to kill him. On Soichiro's deathbed, Light tried to get his dad to write down Mello's name. We all feel for his dad, and we're glad that Light managed to trick Soichiro's Shinigami Eyes. His dad died believing in his innocence.

The end of episode 37, however, shows Light's remorse. Running away from Near, he reflects on the day he discovered the notebook. Every day since he'd become more twisted and evil, killing for his sick sense of justice. Finally, Light collapses alone in a warehouse to breathe his last. After being shot, he calls for Misa and Takada, realising with cold clarity that if he hadn't shunned them then things might not have turned out so badly. Finally, the last person who was even close to his ally - Ryuk - writes down his name. As Light dies, he sees L standing over him, mocking him. Because in the end, Light didn't defeat L. L defeated Light. The whole series had been L against Light, even after his death. L lived on in spirit through his successors. Light had no one to live on through, no one close to him, no one he trusted. He was alone. As Light dies, he realises this. Finally, he dies, but not as Kira. He dies as Light Yagami.

Yah..I have to agrree with ya. Even if he was psycho and out of his mind I still liked him...Although if I could I would rather have that one guy at the end (The one who stabs himself witht he pencil lol) to live over Light. He had the sweetest pencil swishing action ever lol

Ugh... was that skeleton looking guy really Light? It just couldn't be. I guess yall are right. I still can't stand Light. I mean you guys said all the horrible cruel things he did, but I guess he thought it was all for the best. I guess it's like what that guy from StarWars said. "Those who are evil don't think there evil, because they see that the things they do are for the better and people who don't agree are the only ones who see them as evil." Light felt he was doing things for the better of the world, but he let it go to far that he saw anyone who didn't agree with his cause were the truly evil ones.

Light was a bit of a psycho at the end, but I kind of felt sorry for him because he was actually doing the world a favour. I liked Light better in the beginning.

As long as he did? Light was insane from like episode 2! Remember his face in the Linde L. Tailor scene?
I lost all respect for him after he killed the FBI agents. It was stupid and totally uncalled for. He could have gotten away completly if he simply let them over look him.

If he didn't kill Ray Penbar, then Penbars wife would have dismissed her suspition (per Penbars request) and overlooked it.

At that point L had no suspition that Kira could kill in ways other than a heart attack. He would have never have suspected Light. Lights stupidity got him caught.

Yes... well... most of the Shinigami's look like skeletons... but Light was the one with the goggles.

I'm going to work backwards on this.
Light HAD to kill Raye. Think about it; he had no way of knowing that Raye had dismissed his suspicion towards him; Raye kept it completely between himself and L. With this in mind, Light also had to kill the FBI agents. L could easily track Raye back to Light.
Naomi was suspicious anyway because of the bus jacking. But you're right, she probably wouldn't have acted apon it if Rye hadn't died. Oh joy, saved us 2 episodes of walking and talking.

Oh, and on the note of shinigami!Light, there's something about him that just makes you believe its him, you know? I think its the antomical structure of his shoulders and torso.

I don't see a justification of Raye though...

He wouldn't have been suspitios... L wouldn't have figured it out. At this point L thought you could only die of a heart attack... and Raye thought the busjacker could have lived... and wouldn't have reported it to L, because it would make him look bad that he comprimised his identity.

Raye wasn't a genious. Naomi was a better detective...

L is a genius, but a genius can't solve a case if no information is heading his way.

Also, Light KNEW that they were investigating more people than him. He could of let the whole thing blow over, without doing anything suspitios... kinda like he did in the infamous patatoe chip scene. Finally, Light KNEW that Raye no longer suspected him... otherwise Raye wouldn't have introduced himself.

It sounds like you've got some things mixed up. Raye didn't find anything suspicious about the bus jacking, that was Naomi Misora, his fiancee. But if he did, he would have reported back to L. Raye's not a child afraid of getting yelled at by his teacher XD

And the potato chip thing didn't get him into trouble, in fact, it made him look less suspicious.

Despite this, I agree with you. Killing the FBI agents didn't solve anything; if Raye suspected Light and then died a week after reporting his suspicions, it would only make Light apear more guilty. Also, consider a scenario where Penber was the only agent and was only investigating Light (I know, it's highly unlikely that L would narrow down his list of suspects that early on, but this is just a hypothetical to show how much Light left to chance). Penber could have lied about the other agents, and once he died, Light would have been f***ed.

Today you can just walk out onto a city street and see a lot of people that the world could do without. Light was right to do what he did, in the sense that he found he had power, and used it for good.Anyone who did not share the ideals that the world is in a sorry state would've used the death note for personal gain, in which case we really would've been screwed.

Also consider this; In the manga, when L died, he got a full page dedicated to him dying. When Light died, he got a 2 chapter rant about how what Kira was doing was the right thing, A full four pages of him dying, a 2- page flashback, 2 pages of completely black, and then the last 3 rules of the death note written out of context.
