xD Sorry. I was actually gonna say something to make it ontopic again but I couldnt think of anything else.

    And lol. spoilers.

ANYWAYS YEAH. There are tons of things about Death Note that can be taken into consideration. Hell, when me and dad were talking, things got to the point of where we believed Watari could be the human embodiment of a shinigami xD

Yes, since I am one of the only Light fans. It was amazing how beautiful the scene was when he died, topped off with the appearance of L standing over him signifying that in the end he had won. I always liked L, too, and thought that was excellent that they added that.

Before I saw the end, I believed Light would have a more "God-Like" death, though Near's quote of Light getting confused with a murderer and a god, not him being shot by Matsuda and then having a heartattack when Ryuk writes his name down. I knew that would happen, because of the quote, "When you die, I'll be the one writing your name down in my notebook." Still...

The ending was very well done. I'm sure Light fans and L fans are both happy, well, maybe just L fans. I imagined all the L fans laughing their butts off at the end. I kinda chuckled 'cause my dad came into the room when Light was running (outside, with his gun wounds) and making those noises and he was just like, "Shut up." He thinks that Light was mentally retarted just because of that >.>

Anyway, I was very pleased. I was hoping for a Death Note sequal, but it's kinda set in stone. There is a manga, and the anime is based on the manga. Since the end of the manga was Light's death, there could not be a sequal. A sequal might be repetetive and lose a lot of hard-core death note fans like me. Heck, I started to watch the first episode on youtube and I told myself when the openning was playing, "I am not going to like this show a lot, I'm sure." I was obssessed by the end of the first episode, lol.

Man, I feel like Repliku. I'm gonna end my post with this:

I must make my brother watch Death Note. The series will live on :D

Light screwed up at the begining when he started taking the people chasing him personally.

It started with Lind L. Taylor. If he had let that one slip by, L would have totally overlooked him.

Then he made it worse when he took out the FBI agents.

He screwed up at the begining. Light is portrayed as some sort of Evil Genious, but in reality he was just obsessive and arrogant, rather than intelligent.

He deserved what he got. You play with fire, and your gonna get burned.

Oh, I forgot to say this in my earlier post. Is this really Light, or are you just saying that? I've seen that scene with this Shinigami, but...it was raw japanese. I couldn't find it with subtitles.

well , to be honest the ending was so beautiful, and amazing

though i laughed so hard when light was rolling on the floor , he was, like

"what are you waiting for mikami!!!", he looked like an idiot rolling around.

but otherwise such a beautifull ending, though, one thing would be good, a sequel were more than three people got the death note and they faced off or something similar.

It is heavily hinted at in the end of the Director's Cut episode that that shinigami is actually Light.

F Light, His view was too biased for a new word, the fact is killing is wrong in every way its executed, Light transformed from a smart young man into a cold blooded murderer who didn't deserve such a fitting end :\

    But, if he didn't deserve it, then the end wasn't fitting =_=;

I agree, at the end, he was nothing more than "a crazy serial killer" as Near puts it. I think that one of the most interesting things about Death Note is the gradual loss of sanity that Light undergoes. In the last episode, the idea that Light hates to lose is reestablished, as he runs away from the handcuffs, the warehouse, and makes several stupid moves. If he had been more subtle and taken more time, he may have been able to write down Near's name, but he had completely lost it at that point.

Out of everyone, I felt the worst for Mikami. He saw how pathetic, insane, and mortal his god was, that he felt so distressed, confused and betrayed, all he could do was commit suicide. I've heard people say that he did it as a diversion so that Light could escape, but that's a bit of a stretch. Knowing how devoted Mikami was to "god" before this episode, he probably would have committed suicide with a smile if he knew it would help god. But considering all that happened moments before, Light acting like a lunatic and ending up flopping around like a fish bleeding in a puddle, I don't think this is the case, especially since we see Mikami's disturbed reaction to all of these things. Mikami didn't commit suicide so that Light could escape, Light simply used Mikami's death as a chance to run away.

I have to admit that I have similar morals as Light. I believe that by killing someone who would intentionally kill a person (excluding self-defense) or purposely ruin a person's life completely beyond repair, the world would benefit. People who fall under this category include murderers, sometimes rapists, and on rare occasions, thieves. However, I don't believe in killing people who commit lesser crimes than that.

Light had a pretty good idea, but like most protagonist's of Greek Tragedies, he had one huge flaw: arrogance. His first mistake was trying to change the world on a large scale and establishing himself as a god. Maybe it is okay to kill some criminals....some. What he tried to do was scare people into no longer committing crimes, that's a pretty heavy load to dump on people; it even makes the innocent afraid.

His second mistake was killing innocent people who chased after him. As soon as he killed Lind L. Tailor he was no longer the least bit justified. Plus, no one would have been able to catch Light if he hadn't done that, and the Japanese would think L was crazy for suspecting that Kira was in Japan XD

His final mistake (I know I left quite a few out, but I wanted to talk about this one, since it relates to the last episode) was his self-confidence. There wasn't a single doubt in his mind that he would succeed in killing Near, the task force and the SPK. The way their meeting was set up, either Light or Near would end up winning; there was almost no possibility that they would all walk out of there just as they had walked in. In this kind of situation, you would think Light would have a backup plan ready. He was so confident that his plan would work that he didn't bother considering the possibilty that Near would see through it. It didn't even have to be anything too complex either. Maybe he could have Mikami take a single page from the notebook and hide in a seperate place when he sent the five pages to Takada. Or, even better, tell Mikami to bring a shotgun or two XD Write that the first person dies of accidental death, just in case somebody starts faking a heart attack, and if nobody dies, start killin' the old-fashion way (hehehe, it's fun to plot >:D).

Well, I feel that he got what he deserved. I did feel really bad for him though; he was completely humiliated, even though he did it to himself. I love the final scene of this episode. When he was running, he looked so pathetic, and you can almost see him think "my dream is crumbling." It was amazing when he saw his past self walking in the oposite direction. I think he somewhat realized in that moment how far he fell since he picked up the death note.

Finally, his death scene was incredibly peaceful. Light looks incredibly sad at first, partially because he knows he lost...mostly because he knows he lost. However, I think he also regrets what he did, regaurdless of how small that feeling actually is. His long drawn out death allows him some self-reflection, and as the scene progresses, he goes from looking somber to regretful to an eventual acceptance. In fact, when he sees L looking over him as he dies, I'm pretty sure I saw Light with a subtle smirk, even though he's not smiling.

Light would have won if Mello had not have kidnapped Takada and made Mikami go to his box, and if Mikami would have trusted and obeyed light through and through, then Mikami would have no need to go to his bank box and made Near change his plan. I agree 100 percent that Light was way too self confident and that he should have had a backup plan. And why couldn't(in the anime) he just secretly turn his back, open the watch, and quickly write Near's name in the notebook? Still Light was a corrupted man with a totally wrong view of justice and therefore needed to be stopped

Ugh don't even get me started. I totally happy that Light finally got caught. What he was doing was wrong. I really couldn't stand him especially after he caused L to die. Everything he did was shallow and low.

Couldn't find the whole thing... but its part of it... listen to the goggled Shinigami's voice...

In this scene he is asking the other shinigami's to meet Ryuk. And Ryuk... not recognizing him, tells him the story of Light, in exchange for an apple.

That is a more complete link... only its not translated. At the end he calls the other shinigami Light.

hmm was light really evil. in the beggining all he wanted to do was help. but through out the power that came with the note corrupted him. but being corrupted by power is nothing but human nature. can anyone really say that you wouldnt be completly power crazed with something like a death note. i know its only an anime and i know im looking to far into it but im impressed that light actually stayed sane for as long as he did. and as for the question, i almost did feel bad for light because though it was through his own choices he was brought to his downfall, it was also because of power to great for anyone to ever handle controling him that he commited his actions....if any of that made any sense lol.
