Yep, that's right. My preference has ALWAYS been SEGA. And my favorite videogame hero has ALWAYS been Sonic. And he was my very first videogame hero that I was ever introduced to as a kid instead of Mario too. The reason I'm making this topic is because I'm on a desperate quest to find someone besides me who had SEGA as their childhood instead of Nintendo and prefers SEGA over Nintendo like I do. Because EVERY single other person I meet has just ALWAYS liked Mario and Nintendo more than Sonic and SEGA and ALWAYS had Mario and Nintendo as their childhood instead...

C'mon People! Surely I can't be the only one who likes Sonic and SEGA more than Mario and Nintendo and had them as my childhood instead!

I used to be a SEGA kid but then I diversified when I realised console waring is pointless, but I still agree "Genesis does what Nintendon't"

A lot of people were Sega actually.
    I was always Nintendo though.

I grew up with SEGA. I loved the old Sonic games and still play then sometimes.
Everyone else likes Nintendo but SEGA games really kicked their ass.

Finally my quest has come to an end...

I thought surely I wasn't the only one...I'm glad to know that I'm not.:)

Everyone's always talking about the old retro Super Mario Brothers Games and how great they are...But basically all you do in them is just play as a fat plumber and run and jump your way through a level stomping on Goombas and Koopas and avoiding getting killed in one hit while trying to reach the end of the level...What's so great about that?

I'm a Sega baby too. though I played Mario a little bit, Sonic had always been my favorite. I remember having like fourty or so games for the Dreamcast when it came out. I still them luckily, but Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 were the most epic Sonic titles of the day. Those games made history xD.

Yep, Sega was the big player for me. I played Sonic games with my friend, I was always Tails he was always Sonic. I just liked the fact I had two tails and could fly.

I have to agree, the two games aren't exactly opposite ends of the genre scale.

Because running in one direction collecting rings, not even using tactical moves, but more of just, running as fast as you can, hoping you don't die, is much better. And if you had tails, HEY! LETS FLY TO THE END OF EVERY LEVEL!

Anyways, I was always more of a Nintendo person. Not only was the variety of games better, but the controls were better, and it had Chrono Trigger, which alone makes any other console of it's time mean nothing. The Sega Genisis was fun and everything, but it can't really match up to the SNES.

To tell the truth, I never touched a Nintendo System until the N64 came out. My first system was a Sega Genesis. I played Sonic and Ecco the Dolphin all the time on that thing.

I had plenty of other games for it too, but those two I played most often.

I grew up with SEGA, I've always loved SEGA, Sonic, Aiai, etc. I like Nintendo too, but I didn't get into Nintendo till I got a bit older. The first console I ever had was a SEGA Megadrive, known as the Genesis here in America.

    *high fives*

One of my fave things to do was to get break one of those super speed boxes, crank Sonic to go so fast he went off screen, then died. That was an epic first for video games!

I grew up with Sonic since I was a kid. Since then, I've been collecting all the possible games I can play. Since I can't play stuff like Sonic 06 from a lack of 360/PS3 xD I barely knew Nintendo, all I did was play the gamecube and Mario. I focused moreover on SEGA though, I've been into it ever since.

Genesis Sonic Games and Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 are the greatest though.

I grew up with Sony. My first big system was a PlayStation that came with Crash Bandicoot 2 and Gran Turismo. Then I got Spyro the Dragon and was hooked on video games.
My first actual system was actually a GameBoy Pocket and Pokemon Red, but that was all I had to tide me over for a couple months until I got the PlayStation, which actually got me into gaming, the game in particular being Final Fantasy 7.

My first console was a Sega Saturn. I was very happy with the games on the console. I also soon got a SNES and enjoyed the games on those, then I bought a dreamcast soon after. I went to a friend's house to play Nintendo 64 but I have never bought one or a PS1. So yes, Sega was a big part of my life.
