For those of you who don't know, antimatter is identical to the matter we have all around us but with one seemingly minor difference, it has flipped charges. Protons carry a negative charge and electrons a positive. The only charge the same is the balanced charge of the neutrons. For this or some other unknown reason when antimatter and matter come into contact they both get annihilated and converted into pure energy. For a scale on this intensity think of the weight of a paper clip, about one gram, turning into a nuclear explosion. And that doesn’t even include the antimatter half of the set.

Now what do you guys think of this? Can we control it? Should we? Alternative Energy? Weaponry? Interplanetary Travel? Anti-universe? etc.

Anti matter is...unfortunately... a pipe dream to be utilized. A small amount could power cities, and it'd be so ideal for space travel fuel, since it's not run off of fossil fuels.

It's a matter of not letting it explode and coming into contact with things. That'd be such a hard task.

Is there any sources or websites on this? XD

There is such a thing...in a fictional story titled "Angles and Demons" by Dan Brown.

It's not a matter of if. We know it's there. It's more about what now?

And yes I've read that book. Dan Brown is very good and blurring truth and reality. He researches his books heavily but not everything can be taken at face value.

Seriously, I feel that when it comes to things like antimatter and such, humans in general should not mess with it. I haven't studied antimatter that much, but, from what you explained, mixt, this is something humans shouldn't have control over. People claim to know how to use things and then we blow a big huge hole in the ocean, and this shows how some people just go to far when it comes to things like antimatter. If it's like nuclear, no one should even think about using it. Sure, MAYBE we can find a way to use it, but right now, people just need to use other things for the good, not the bad.

Weird. I did I search before hand to check for thatm but I didn't see it then. Well if a mod feels obligated to, then lock/move/delete this I guess.

Anyway one of my friends at school came up with an interesting idea. Anti-plasma. Perhaps we could use it highten the effect even further.

seriously, humans shouldnt mess with this stuff if it can blow up in our faces (massively) i mean we are already fighting over oil and such like sugar addicts over the last lollypop. its pathetic... if we left everything to way its meant to be, we wouldnt be having the iraq war or an energy crisis or global warming. but then again, global warming was gonna happen anway and we dont have long till wme all melt from the heat which is going up my something like .3 degrees every year. antimatter could destroy the universe and time and space would start again. there would be improvements and stuff, so that it doesnt happen again. if it was created to explode then it was created to be LEFT ALONE! not to be TOYED WITH!!!
