My friend looked up to Wikipeda about Sora's antiform.

He read that, throughout all of KH2, Sora was a heartless. In KH1 when he became one, and when Kairi hugged him, it didn't make him a human again. Just made his heartless in human form.

And throughout all that time he was a heartless until Roxas mixed with him at the end of KH2. Thus, Antiform was just him turning back into heartless form for a short period of time.

My friend, thinks this is true. However, theres a few problem with that huge threoy.

    1. Where's the heartless sign on him?
    2. Heartless can wield keyblades?
    3. If he was a heartless the entire time, what the heck are the downsides or limitations to being one?

What do you guys think of it?

Look at Shadows. Sora was a pureblood Heartless and only Emblem Heartless have the sign.
No. Well, maybe? I don't think Sora was technically a Heartless, just incomplete.
Otherwise, he'd be able to do Heartless stuff, I would think.
I heard somewhere that he was just a walking heart.

Oh yea never noticed the shadows don't have it >.>

I guess Sora was just incomplete. Anti-Form still remains a mystery then.

Well, it's the influence of his time as a Heartless affecting him.
Probably that mixed with this clothes Drive form ability is what brings it up.

Not many, if any, have actually come back after becoming a Heartless.

And some, because of BBS, think
    it's Vanitas influencing him

^ That sounds right to me.

This is really all that Nomura has said concerning it:

According to Nomura, it's simply a 'side-effect' of Sora's time as a Heartless, but the term on its own is vague. This is how it came out in my head.

As usual, I need to come up with some kind of TL;DR version. For now it's in a spoiler box with size-one text.

Remember when Riku was possessed by Xehanort's Heartless? His body was eventually returned, and he fought off the man's control, but he always remembered that it happened in his heart. The guilt and fear remained. When fighting Roxas, he fought his fear, brought the memory back up, and willingly allowed the darkness to take over once again. The side-effect of the possession changed Riku's shape into that of Xehanort's Heartless (but he kept his mind).

Anti-Form is the result of Sora's turning into a Heartless; the form happens because of the memory in his heart. Sora lost his body and soul (those pieces turning into Roxas) and his heart was consumed by the darkness. However, Kairi's love shaped for him a 'body' from the light that was in her newly-returned heart. So the Sora we see at the end of KHI and in Chain of Memories is a being comprised of light and a heart.

We all know memories are very powerful things. They can control personalities, friendships and physical abilities. Memories also brought Maleficent back from the dead - the memory of darkness can cause a huge, concentrated explosion of it, and the body can be affected by it. The effects can either be controlled by somebody who has learned how to (DiZ, for example, disguises himself) or not (Maleficent's return was unwanted and cannot be reversed).

In KHI and Chain of Memories, Sora has no body to be affected by the memory when it is brought up in speech, but when II starts, Roxas is returned to Sora. However, for a long time, Sora cannot consciously recall being a Heartless. The Anti-Form only occurs when Sora tries to call on a great amount of light - maybe his heart subconsciously remembers being a Heartless when this happens, and he is transformed into a dark, Heartless-like form.

Interestingly, when Roxas and Sora start working together (when Final Form is collected), the memory becoming a conscious one has no effect. I guess Roxas is helping to fight off the transformation as well, as he holds the element of Light.

    ...Go theory!

It's obvious that Anti-Form is related to Sora being a heartless. But I never heard of someone saying he was a Heartless for all of KH2.

    1. He was a Pureblood. Therefore, he did not have one. Even if this is true.
    2. Possibly. I believe Riku was being controlled by XH, possibly meaning that he was using Riku's body to wield the Keyblade. Since he's a heartless, I guess it's...possible.
    3. Weakness to the Keyblade? But if that's the case, he would've been torn apart by Riku(Land Of Dragons) and during the battle with Roxas.

    He'll probably explain later.

When Sora stabbed himself, releasing Kairi's heart, his heart was also set free. His body (and soul?) went to create Roxas. His heart created the Heartless that you controlled for that short period of time, and when he met up with Kairi & co, her light + her feelings for him created a new body made of light to hold his heart.
    Yeah, maybe he'll have
black hair, yellow eyes, armor that looks like Riku's, and a ridiculous lookingX-Blade

    ... Oh wait. :l

When Sora stabbed himself, his body, soul and heart got separated. (I'm assuming a soul is more accurately described as life, the thing that animates the body, while the heart contains the memories and consciousness of a person.) His soul animated his heartless body, creating Roxas. (Oh, and I'm ruling out anything to do with Namine or BBS, because they make it really confusing.) His heart became a heartless. Kairi then used her odd princess powers to make a new body and soul to store his heart in. He then continued adventuring for a while, until Namine screwed up his memories, at which point they got drawn to Roxas and Xion. This was why DiZ needed to get those two out of the picture before Sora could awaken. Xion was killed off, so the memories returned to Sora. Roxas was then lured to Sora, where they then recombined, giving Sora back all his memories, as well as Xion's keyblade. At this point one set of bodies+souls would get discarded. Presumably Kairi's makeshift body and soul she made for him. Roxas still existed inside Sora as a persona, so he decided to fight for control at TWTNW. Sora won, so Roxas gave up and decided to work in tandem with Sora, unlocking Final-form.

Antiform was presumably Sora's drive for power turning into corruption (power corrupts, after all).

This form makes sense, since in KH 1 you turn into a heartless, in this game you get turned into a heartless again without warning when you want to do something useful. the only crime is that the guide says that the anti form is weak when it obviously could beat a boss.
