Anti- Telemarketing Methods

so when a telemarketer calls your house what do you usually do to them to make them stop calling or hang up? everyone i know does something different and it would be cool to share ideas :)

 

We just let the answering machine get it. Since it has Caller ID, we never have to worry about telemarketers. It filters family and friend's phone numbers from all the other crap. Telemarketers don't stand a chance. :sly:

 

Here they never call. They don't dare.

They'll figure out the line's gone dead sooner or later.

 

I tell them if they call me again, I will hunt them down, rip out their throat and feed them to the coyotes.


or I threaten their families...either way they dont call again.

 

I hang up. They are annoying pests who are trying to steal my money. IT'S MY MONEY, GO AWAY EVIL TELEMARKETERS!!!

 

Because they'll have serious problems if they do.

 

I tell them that my parole officer needs to sign off on all telephone transactions in case I'm in contact with gangs/warlords/politicians. That usually makes them stop calling....or just check caller Id....

 

telling them "Place my number on your DNC list" also stops them, because that means you can sue if they call even one more time after that ^^

"Hello, I'm sorry but you have reached the home of telemarketing haters, and we do try to hunt down everyone that calls us, and so far only have had gotten from us, so unless you want to be on the list to be hunted down, do not call this number again"

I usually listen for a few minutes until they stop talking or are asking "...hello? .... sir?" By that time I'm usually gone (even though I leave the phone on for kicks), or am laughing my ass off.

Sometimes I just hang up.

We let it run through voice mail. And at the begininng of the voice mail messege, it has tha "Bum Bum Bum" noise you hear when you can't reach a number. A woman voice usually goes after the noise when the phone is actually disconnected, "We're sorry. You're call cannot go through. Please hang up and try again later." Once that noise is heard by the phone, we're off the list because that means the phone is disconnected to the computer. BUUT it's not ;o

I like to make their plan backfire. Y'know

Telemarketer:"Hello, this is Rosa, I'm interested in sell-"
Me:"Hold up! I'm interested in selling you this authentic dresser for on 50 dollars, Rosa! How about it?"


Y'know that kind of annoying stuff they'd hate in every way.​
