By the time we're able to travel to other solar systems, 120 trillion miles will be like 120 miles to us now.

The thing is, if this planet is pretty much the same as Earth, then there would also be a strong possibility of life. Further stretching the hypothesis, depending on how advanced the life if, they may be looking back at Earth with the same thoughts.

Anyway, this is all hypothesis as it is too far away for anyone to actually visit at present and there is no certainty that it even has an atmosphere.

Which means we could have an integalactic war on ours hands, forcing the countries to unite in order to defeat our most ruthless and challenging battle in the history of our itty bitty planet!

Well they did say it has same characteristics as Earth....so if say, they visit....and let say, no people but organisms living in that planet and like sure atmosphere, isn't it that when a rocket enter an atmosphere, it removes piece by piece? i think? can anyone clarify that?

Dang. Just about to post this.

As a science nerd, this intrigues me. This could be the greatest discovery in the history/prehistory of man kind! Even greater than PIZZA!!!... well, maybe not THAT great.

Don't count on it being called Earth II or something like that. It'll probably get a Latin name. I'd prefer "Terra Vivida(Living Earth)," or "Planeta Vivida Nova (New Living Planet)."

Man, I hope they can at least get pictures soon to see if there is any life.

    Really interesting stuff.

Wow, the Terra Vivida ain't half bad! and yeah i agree.....this maybe, the greatest discovery

Well, they did capture it while a satellite was roaming around it, so maybe there's more we're not seeing right now

Thanks. But, I'm not sure that the second one's grammar is correct. It might be "Nova Planeta Vivida." I'm not sure if "nove(new)" is adjective-noun.

Also, they didn't photograph it. The method they used is called "wobble-effect." Because of a planet's gravity, the star's body is slightly pulled toward it. Because of this, it is easy to figure out the position and mass of the planet. It's WAY too small and far to photograph with a satellite.

Here's something I don't get, they don't know if there's anything that can sustain us on Mars, but all of a sudden there's another Earth? That's just confusing. But hey, it would be cool to see what lies on 581c. Maybe there are already organisms living on it.
