...I did? No, Daddybusa I didn't! Because her response had nothing to with the posed question other than just saying NAAAAAW. Don't blame me for this.

Nah, I was presenting a legit example of today's problems and the ways it is being affected by the current changes in the viewership community.

But the thread asked if you liked any english dubs over the source. You didn't answer the question except with a paragraph that spelled out NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW

I explained why as a whole I disliked dubs because that matters to the topic. When you just look at I liked this one better or I liked this one better you overlook the reasons for this stuff and ignore what it all means and reduce it to people just throwing around baseless opinions and it becomes purely a matter of taste.

I was trying to ELEVATE THE CONVERSATION!

Baccano! Considering the setting of the anime, English is much more fitting.

As for the quality of dubs in general, I find it hard to compare the original and dubbed version unless I'm fluent in language of the original and of the dub. In the case of bad English dubs of anime, the Japanese ends up being preferable mostly because ignorance is bliss. The original could be just as bad but I wouldn't have any way of knowing.

Yet those kind of posts would be less likely to happen if this were in its proper discussion section. Posting this thread in the Spamzone actually attracts posts like that even more.

No they wouldn't. In gaming I sometimes actually say "Yeah, but you're wrong."

    Ask @libregkd . He can assure you.[DOUBLEPOST=1401503663][/DOUBLEPOST]
What you're saying is we need to dub Willy Wonka so people can understand it? Because I agree man

Oh, I got a dub I prefer far more than the source: Metal Gear

I wouldn't say we left civil.

Is that the only thing you say? If so, those posts should be deleted. The same thing can't really be said for posts in the Spamzone.

a bit more... polite? idk. people undeniably conduct themselves better in discussion sections
which is why the "i dont post threads in discussion sections because of this behavior" makes no sense when that behavior is almost exclusive to the spam zone

I have had some low content posts, yes. I think they can add just as much to a discussion as not. NOW WE HAVE NO CONNECTION TO THE THREAD. Instead of critiquing a discussion and further pushing this from something valuable... add to it?

We can agree 100% that Jiku would in fact eat me.[DOUBLEPOST=1401504108][/DOUBLEPOST]
    Eh .

It depends on what I hear first. I watched DB/Z as a kid and wholly prefer the English dub (though there are some voice changes I really don't like in Kai, lol). The same happened when I watched Gurren Lagann back in 2011; I remember watching the second movie and feeling kinda strange since the voices didn't match what I was used to. That said, I still had a ****ing kickass time and Simon sounded just as great in both sub and dub. Another instance of this happened with Code Geass; I had been watching the English dub up until the last three episodes I think? Then I watched the subbed version of the "ALL HAIL LELOUCH" episode and was just like "damn. DAMN." After that, I caught the dub episode and thought the delivery in that scene wasn't as good, lol.

So yeah. In the cases of where I've seen the sub first, I usually prefer that because it's both A). something I get to grow with while I B). watch it for the first time. Those two factors are probably the most important for me in whichever I like best.

I think that it's better this way. If you're going to be as repressive and standoffish about feelings and shit online as you are in real life you might as well talk to real people. The internet is a place of actions and a place where you are allowed to be more uninhibited and true to yourself. That's why I can get heated about an anime conversation without thinking in the back of my mind, "Oh yeah, better try to accommodate those people on the next table over because I'm being rude" or "Shit, Jeff got left out of the conversation, we should dumb it down for him."

    THAT'S THE SPIRIT!

I agree. That's something about the SpamZone I like- it's like the aggressiveness of /v/, but less hostile and with no anonymity. Forums in general don't usually cater to that because there's so much of a safety bubble and feeling like you have to add a certain amount to the topic while keeping to it. Here I replied to Below with "eh."

I agree with this entirely. Association and exposure are way more powerful than actual talent 90% of the time. But in that ten percent, sometimes you figure out that there's a better voice for a character than Johnny B.... It's rare, but it happens.
