Just a question... Is Teen Titans an American production, or some other thing?

I think it's an American production. They just used anime style for the animation. Kind of like for Avatar: The Last Airbender's case.

ANYWHO!: Anime is like a spin off to something new and cool. It gives different stories, pluse most of the Janpanese writers are really good at making stories for the tv series. That's why I like anime.

It's all just personal preference. nothing really to it. some reasons people like it are: art style, better plots, most are not as child-friendly(because there aren't that many American cartoons for older viewers :/), or whatever.

that is true, there are quite a handful of anime that isn't kid friendly that they can't be aired or have to be edited.

I like anime because some anime shows can have amazing plots and character development to the point where they surpass shows that feature human actors ( Gilmore Girls for instance, or House).

Anime can also be very versatile. You can get shows like School Rumble or FLCL that are just very funny and for the laughs, and shows like Death Note or Noir that are alot more serious or shows that are purely action or purely romance. Anime includes nearly every genre available. It's a nice selection in comparison to Western cartoons or dramas.

I like it because of the weirdness of it. I've just always been attracted to things out of the ordinary, because I am myself, and just anime in general seems to fulfill this extraordinarily well.

In Europe, if you look at our cartoon channels on television, mostly anime is all they show, the main ones that are shown regularly are: Pokemon, Sonic, Naruto, Avatar, Death Note (no longer broadcast as the series ended) and many other quite popular anime's, so children in Europe don't have much of a choice but to watch anime as is it is all that is regularly shown, the American cartoons that are broadcast here in Europe are also quite old and very repetitive as they show the same episode every hour, so it probably puts some people off, whereas the anime broadcast here, one episode of one anime, the replay is played 4-7 hours after the actual time of the episode, sometimes even once a day, depending on the anime. So, sometimes the repetitiveness in some countries is what people are put off by American cartoons.

I, for one, enjoy anime, it is one of my loves, don't get me wrong, I occassionally enjoy watching American cartoons, but I prefer anime, because I liked the style of art, and the way they make it seem more like reality, i.e. character development and appearances, whereas American cartoons don't do that as much. Also, the storylines usually have more thought put into them, because most animes originate from manga, they have a basic idea of a storyline they have to reach, with the added addition of a problem occuring in the episode, though in American cartoons, you just get the problem and there is no climax or ending as such, and because I'm a nerd who likes books as well as anime, I tend to like to see some sort of ending/climax or a proper beginning.

Holy sh*t that post was long... Longer than my English essays O_o

There are quite a few animes with interesting plot lines; plot lines that you would never find in American shows. This is one of the things that attracts me to anime. It just has a different feel than american shows.

I don't watch things just because it's anime. I'll watch an American show just as quickly. If the show is good, does it matter if it's anime or not? But that's just my opinion.

I watch anime 1) because I love the art and 2) because I can actually get emotionally connected with the shows. Good animes can make me cry my eyes out and/or laugh until my side hurts, and they often suck you in so that your really feel involved/emotionally with the story. Most American cartoons can't do that; at least not the ones on tv nowadays.

Many modern American cartoons don't really require you to think, just to sit their and stare at the screen for thirty minutes. Don't get me wrong, there are a few I like (for example, Avatar (it's in the anime style, but it's still an American made cartoon), Danny Phantom, and Teen Titans), but if you really think about it, when's the last time an American cartoon made you cry/made you actually think or feel any sort of emotion besides "lol they said a pun that was funnay omg lol okay I'm over it back to staring at the pretty colors"? If you can think of one, is it still showing new episodes? Is it even playing on tv anymore? Notice how those shows I named have all ended/been cancelled.

So yeah, that's why I like it. Just because I'm American doesn't mean I have to pretend our cartoons are the best.

Yeah you can look at the art style of anime unlike american. You know it is anime when you notice the way the eyes move, either they are narrowed or water meloned featured. The mouth is another destinctive trait and the sweat drops from certain characters from anime. The detailed scenery instead of the sketchy one in certain american cartoons. Anime also has episodes that usually follow after the next. Unless it is a character arc then that is different. In regular cartoons they have the said character doing something completely different than they were doing in another episode.

For example lets say a character dies then the next episode they are brought back like nothing ever happened. That is american cartoons for you. Unless they have part 2 or 3 or so on.

Also another way to tell is see the credits where they have the japanese names and dubbed names along with it. An example of an anime is Pokemon, Death Note, Yu-gi-oh, Inuyasha, Dragonball Z and etc. They all have different genre cateogories or serious tone or voilence. Including story lines and some show emotional value to them. While it can be hated because certain distributors get the licenses from a said series and butchers it.

Like what some of the other fans are saying, I love my anime because of some of the really unique storylines you can find if yu really look under the suurface and the amount of detail they put into the animation can be absolutley breath-taking if put together with flawless animation.
I also love anime because of some of the interesting characters that have been created and the humor that can be involved.

And those who are saying they don't watch it because they cant understand japanese, its called looking for english dubs.

I have been watching anime for the last 10 years of my life and the only american cartoons i occassionally watch are the simpsons and family guy.
