Now now, while it might be a while since last I did my yaoing, I'm pretty sure it doesn't qualify when it's a man and a woman.

Love Lab was actually my top choice for the year.

Oreimo I found was really funny. I really liked the second season the best (for the OVAs, take them as you will).
Nagi No Asukara. Good story driven show and a lot of beautiful backgrounds, character designs, and other great technical details.

I don't know about last year, but this year I've been really loving Space Dandy. It's the only anime I can think of that can be described as funky fresh, baby.

Oh, and Shuffle! is an okay older anime. It's based on a hentai visual novel, but don't worry because it's not actually hentai.

Dangan Ronpa: The Animation was decent.

Other than that you've already downloaded my other recommendation, which is Attack on Titan, and that's really good, just way too overrated.

I didn't really watch any from last year, but Steins;Gate is really good. It has a bit of a slow start though.

it's not from last year and you may have already seen it but i'm going to recommend Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings. it's a fun show with over the top action set in feudal japan.
