Angelic Divinity

Gabriel smiled again and took up a position in front of the class. Since now every seat was filled except for one...he began his lecture. flipping oppen his book, a picture of what appeared to be a bright green river flowed through the classroom. "What you see before you is what makes up the earth. Some...if you're a video game nerd, would recognize it and it's name. The Lifestream. This stream of life holds each of the lives and souls of every human...angel and other creature in the heart of the world. It also has it's own language. It's...different than the language of the angels...and that of humans." A boy with dark hair lifted his hand, "Why don't you speak the language of the angels... If indeed you are one of the many Archangels." A muscle in Gabriel's face twitched ever so slightly and he sighed, setting his book aside, "Why you ask? Because...you would not understand me if I did. The language of the angels is very different from human speech. Vowels...consonants...syllables are not the same. In fact...they don't exist at all. In a manner of speaking...the language of the angels...does not exist. Which is why it's called the Language of the Forgotten." He handed out a basic syllabus and stared out a wide paned window while they filled it out. The boy on the other hand smiled at the sight of the pondering Gabriel and turned to face Tori. "Greetings."

 

tori looked up at the boy from her syllabus.
"hey."
she went back to signing the paper and reading over the course work.

schuyler looked over at the boy that was back talking the teacher. she could never imagine back talking a teacher, and was amazed how carelessly some of the other students did so.

kaila gave her students their books for the year and went over typical first day agendas. all the young angels new how things ran in her room from last year, but she informed them that this year would be a lot tougher. they were getting older and the stakes were much higher, so their ability to master magic would be more heavily needed.

 

The boy placed his hand over Tori's syllabus and gave her a lopsided smile. "Name's Genesis. I saw you talking with Zadkiel at breakfast...I'd prefer if you didn't hang around him. He's bad news."

Uriel's class of third year students immediately set to sparring and she closed her eyes, wishing the Seraphim wouldn't have come so early. The first years were hardly ready to be plucked and chosen. Each of the older students had a certain mark or token from the Seraphim, Uriel...thankfully, escaped her teenage years of being a High Court slave to being an Archangel. With higher status, came freedom from the Seraphim's desires.

 

"Thanks you." Diane said. "I'll keep him locked in my room most of the time." she said.

James merely looked at Shyuler. "James." he said in an Unfriendly-ish tone. "You're one of my sister's loser friends right?"

 

tori glared at genesis.
"well i'd prefer you didn't touch my belongings. who are you to tell me whom i may or may not be able to eat breakfast with?"
she turned to face gabriel at the front of the class and ignore genesis.

schuyler looked at james confused.
"i beg your pardon? oh wait...do you mean diane? you're the person she's looking for?"
she glanced down at the syllabus and then looked back up at him.
"i was being polite. she needed someone to be there for her so that's what i did. that's the kind of person i am."
schuyler signed the sheet of paper and opened the textbook.

 

Genesis smirked and narrowed his brown eyes at Tori, "Ah, don't worry little flower. You'll soon see why being around me instead of that...thing is better for you."

Gabriel turned his attention away from the window, "Genesis...don't harrass Tori. We must begin our lessons..." Commencing with the lectures on the different languages and giving them a reading assignment he sat at his desk and hurriedly wrote into a planner.

 

"If being polite was enough in this world, we would all be friends." James said without much intrest. "But thanks anyway. She always needs friends. Maybe if she had more back home whe wouldn't carry that stupid dog everywhere." James told her. He liked the prospect of his sister already having a friend.

 

Gabriel cut a cold, irritated glance towards James and Schulyer, "A little less chit-chat, a little more reading. This class will not be an easy pass if you do not pay attention!" Already he was irritated for the day and he hadn't even seen Kiel. A poster fell from the wall and the pins sunk into the textbook in front of James, open to the page he should read. "There are no second chances here. At the Acadamy for Angels, each class is a life or death situation. Learn, or be subjected to the cruelties of a life as a mortal. Stripped of your angelic powers."

 

"Ok, sorry." James said. What was it with all these wierdos? He never had an interest in other people, but Shuyler was different. "Maybe she'll know where Diane is." he wondered.

Diane sprinted to the english class. She was late. "Dammit!" she said.

 

kaila smiled happily at her students and showed them how to make a blaze of fire from a candle flame. it danced around the room and dwindled back down into a flickering flame.

tori skimmed over the page in the textbook and sighed. this was going to be a long year.

schuyler jumped when gabrielle reprimanded her. she wasn't used to getting in trouble and didn't want to start now.
"sorry..."
she mumbled and then went back to her book.

 

With a quick smile, Gabriel returned to his lesson, demonstrating the series of languages he knew... A half an hour into the class a black robed man burst rather clumsily into Gabriel's room. "Lord Gabriel...Sanya has collapsed again!" Gabriel nodded and closed his book, "That will be all class. Finish your reading..and tomorrow we'll pick up on any questions." He hurried out the door, leaving the black cloaked man standing in the room. Genesis cast him a cold glare and the man broke out in a cold sweat. "G-G-Genesis...y-you should l-learn to be more c-c-courtious to your elders."

 

Diane slowed to a walk before she entered the classroom. She went in and she saw Shuyler and... James? She couldn't believe it. She went to the Teacher. "Sorry I'm late. I had some trouble I had to take care of." she told him.

Great. She's late. James thought. He hated his sister's clumsiness. He decided to ignore her until the time was right. He did love her, but she was still too immature for her to know why he had left.

 

schuyler and tori both watched as the teacher exited the classroom. tori was quite confused about this boy genesis, but didn't really want anything to do with him. she wasn't a fan of people telling her who she could and could not be friends with. especially when the person telling her doesn't even know her. tori got up to leave since the teacher was already gone. gabrielle was peculiar, but he seemed like an all right teacher. she walked out the door before she could be stopped by genesis.

schuyler looked at diane who walked in right as gabrielle was leaving. she looked up and smiled politely.
"class is over sweetie. you might as well go."

kaila handed her second years their homework for the day so that they could get started before the class ended.

 

Gabriel couched over Sanya in her classroom and passed a hand over her body, "Sanya...Sanya... Hey, you alright. C'mon...now. Dilly-dally-shilly-shally."

Genesis watched Tori leave and scoffed.

Kiel spotted Tori leaving class and swung out of a random room to walk beside her, "Having fun? Hopefully class was...alright. You okay? You look like your feathers are ruffled."

tori pulled her wings in tight behind her back and turned to look at kiel.
"is there anything you should be telling me? like why you didn't come to the very first class of the year. i mean we hardly know each other and i already have people telling me i shouldn't be around you."
she slowed her pace to a stop. she put her hands on her hips, cocked an eyebrow, and glared at him.
"spill"

schuyler got up from her chair and placed her supplies inside her bag carefully.
"i'll see the two of you in the next class. mkay?"
she walked out the door and headed down the hall, stretching her wings as she walked.

 

Kiel frowned, "Alright...I didn't go to class today cause...Gabriel is a suspect in an investigation I'm doing. My mother told me my father was an archangel that taught here. The only males I've encountered here have been Gabriel and Ren." He shifted from foot to foot, "As for people telling you you shouldn't be around me...I've no idea. I don't know anyone here. Maybe the guy just has the hots for you Tori...jealousy will make a man do crazy things."

Sanya opened her eyes and scowled at Gabriel, "Don't you Dilly-dally-shilly-shally me, Gabe. I'm not wasting time brooding like Ren or you and Uriel. I...don't know what happened." "You passed out, dear. Again. In the middle of your class."

The Seraphim of the Summer Court passed by Schuyler in the halls. Her broad, white wings glowing with summer's warmth and heat. The passed through Schuyler's wings easily and warmed her. "So you're...Schuyler, are you?" She turned her face towards her, her hood pushed back to reveal her lovely sun-kissed face and bright blue eyes that had dolphins swimming in them and sun-bleached blonde hair, "How would you like to join the Summer Court?"

 

schuyler felt her wings grow warm, but not hot like a fire; more like a beautiful summer's day. her bright eyes looked up at the seraphim in wonder.
"yes that is me, but i'm sorry. what is the summer's court? my parents told me a little about the seraphims, but i never really learned about the four courts."
she smiled and looked at the woman in curiosity.
"i would greatly like know more."

tori looked at kiel confused.
"what are you talking about? don't be stupid kiel. what's there to be jealous of, and the hots? are you kidding me? why on earth would anyone have the hots for me? you're ridiculous! if you don't want to tell me the truth that's fine, but don't lie to me."
she stormed off down the hallway to the next class.

kaila dismissed her class for the day and prepared the room for the next group.

 

The Seraphim smiled and her wings turned visible. Six of them. One set crossing at her ankles, another framing her face and the last just like a pair of normal wings at her back. "Then let me teach you. Join the Summer Court and you'll learn many things beyond what you already know."

Kiel ran after her, "Alright, alright, if you don't believe me, that's fine. I barely believe myself. But...I've never met anyone else here. Maybe he just...knows me from family? He smiled, "Plus, if you hadn't noticed, you're very beautiful Tori. Say...where'd you get that ribbon?" He motioned to her wrist and the pale blue ribbon there.

Ren stopped in Kaila's doorway. "Kaila...Elena told me you were there that night... You shouldn't have seen that like that. I know it's not pretty to see someone fight, and I apologize."

 

schuyler watched the seraphim in awe. she was magnificent and schuyler couldn't take her eyes off her.
"i would love to join."

tori looked down at her wrist confused.
"what? oh yeah...i don't know. i woke up in the middle of the night and it was just there. i went to bed without it and then i don't know. i was in such a hurry this morning i must have forgotten about it."

kaila watched ren walk into her classroom. she turned away and wrote some spells on the chalkboard. she kept her tone very flat and matter of factly as she spoke.
"it's fine. you have nothing to apologize ren. you were just doing your job. we all have our own duties to do in this place. some are more dangerous than others. you may go now."

 

"Can I join too?" Diane asked. She followed Schuyler because James had just left.
"Diane... you're so stupid." James said as he walked to the bathroom. He wanted to pick a fight really badly and let his feelings loose.
