Angelic Divinity

Tori's eyes filled with rage at kiel's insensitivity. Her hands flew over his shoulders, covering his mouth. "Why on Earth would you say something like that?!" Her temper was only subdued by the sound of Angeal's voice. "oh...okay thanks. Angeal, are you talking about Professor Logos? I ugh...I saw the way you acted around her this morning. You really care for her, don't you?"

schuyler stopped pulling on penny's shirt and just sat down beside him. she moved in real close and tipped her chin up, batting her eyelashes. "Will you please where the shirt? There's a bathroom in the corner there so you can have privacy, or i can draw the curtain here." she pointed to the dull blue sheet that had been drawn back around his cot.

giselle decided to admit defeat and nodded once. "i guess it has. sleep would be good. i didn't get a lot of it last night. what with the freak storm and all..." remembering the lightning made her skin crawl. she couldn't stand storms and genesis never came back like he said he would. being scared was easier to handle when you weren't alone. the storm had been terrifying and she was in a new and unfamiliar place. that made it even worse. she squeezed the jacket tightly and started to follow genesis in the direction of his bedroom. the school was far too confusing to figure out on her own. finding his room by herself would be damn near impossible.

kaila shook her head and gave ren a kiss on for forehead. "it's not what you think. on the contrary, i've been doing these things because of how i feel for you. i didn't want you to suffer. you've already gone through so much. i can never express to you how badly i feel for what i said this morning. i did it, because i didn't want you to have to go through the pain of watching me become human, and then dying at the hands of kadaj." she curled her wings tightly around her body and laid down on the bed beside him. "michael, has taken away my punishment for assisting kadaj. i'm grateful that he's gone soft. there's some things i need to do, in order to help stop kadaj, and make sure that no one can ever hurt you again. i'll probably be gone a lot, in the next couple of weeks. i love you, and i'm glad you haven't forgotten who i am." she moved in closely, careful not to hurt his shoulder, and pressed her forehead against his. his warmth and the smell of his breath felt perfect. being there with him was the right thing. kaila wouldn't let anyone else hurt ren. not again.

 

Kiel's eyes bugged out of his head and he pulled Tori's hand away from his mouth, gasping for air. "You tryin' to kill me or what?" Angeal mearly chuckled at Tori's question, "You see quite a bit...but alas...Sanya loves another and she's like a younger sister to me. Out of several angels that have lost their wings...she is the only one to craft a mechanical one and live as she deems fit." He turned halfway, bringing out his project for them to see. In his hand he held what looked to be the start of another mechanical wing. "I decided to start making one for Genesis using Sanya's design. If he wants it, that is. I've made my peace with my one wing...it's quite nice. One less hole in my shirts."

Genesis observed her quietly, "You are...afraid of storms?" He couldn't fathom such a thing...mostly because of his ego.

Penny snatched the shirt, giving an embarrassed glare at the group and made his way into the bathroom. Shutting the door, he grimaced at the sight of the shirt in his hand. Wearing her brother's shirt...it was weird... Peeling off his own, he tossed it in the garbage, seeing as it was covered in blood and torn. Stiffly, he pulled it on and quietly listened to the conversation outside.
Jean smiled sweetly, "I think he's shy. How sweet..."

Ren grit his teeth as he listened to her. It was always like this...he wasn't involved enough in the real world to know what was all going on. Instead, he was too absorbed by his dreams of his dead wife. "I will not have you risking your life for mine, Kaila. Now...I have a bone to pick with Kyrios. Sealing my memories...such cruelty is beyond him."

 

tori shook off kiel's question, her mind lost in the past. She thought about the night kadaj had attacked them. He was after kiel for some odd reason. Hitting him over the head with a rock reminded her of her parents. It was sick. When she told the professor, sanya got so worked up. The little woman loved the fallen angel. poor angeal. tori shook away the fog clouding her mind of the present. it's "so sad..."

tristan chuckled and gave jean a kiss on the top of her head. "i didn't realize. With how big he talks, shyness didn't seem to be a possibility."

"shut up tristan. There's nothing wrong with not wanting to change in public." she folded all the dhirts up neatly. Kingsley wouldn't miss them. His closet was almost larger than hers. Her brother was strange like that. "i admire that reservation."

giselle glared up at him. There was no need to be so blunt about it. Being afraid of storms was embarrassing enough the way it was. "do you have to say it like that?" there seemed to be no filter with him. He just says whatever he wants, however he wants.

kaila gave him a kiss and grimaced. "don't. As much as I hate kryios, I truly believe he did that to help you. I hurt you, and he took the pain away. You seemed better that way, no longer suffering. I...i would have left you like that, if it wasn't for uriel...and enan... Watching you pain free over what I said...that was my punishment for hurting you. Kryios was only trying to help you, in his own weird way. I'm sorry." she sat up on the bed. Coming here was a mistake. There was no way she could leave unnoticed if ren was watching her every move. Now, he probably will be.

 

Angeal's face became serious, "Depending on how you look at it...yes, it's sad...but to her...it's hardly a sad thing." He closed one eye and smiled, "Though we seem to be having two different topics floating around here. Are we talking about Sanya's love? Because saying losing a wing is sad would probably just make her mad."

Genesis recoiled a bit, "Uh...is there something wrong with the way I said it? I'm only asking a question." He'd never understand. Genesis' only fear was of certain people....and for good reason too. "Giselle...there's nothing wrong with being afraid of something. It's what makes you human. Plus...it's not like storms are my forte either. But when you go to a school where when a certain teacher gets pissed and a storm magically rolls in, you learn to live with it."

Ren grabbed her wrist with his one good hand. HIs yellow eyes intensely focused on her face, "Enan...you mean while I've been under a spell, you've let Enan cozy up to you." Jealousy burned in his yellow eyes and he struggled to sit up, "I'm not going to allow that man to control you with sweet promises, Kaila. He's all lies, I know he is." Ren was grasping at straws, he had nothing on Enan. "Kaila...there's nothing more that I want in this world than to be Ren and stay with you. Kyrios taking my memories...making me believe I was Raphael again...was a nightmare."

 

"um no...no...i believe professor logos is a very strong person. She manages just fine without her wing." tori moved closer to the one-winged mechanic, examining the robotic wing. "can I see what you're doing?" she held onto kiel's hand tightly as she looked over the large mechanism.

schuyler walked over to the bathroom door, knocking lightly. "penny...are you all right in there? Did you get the shirt on okay?" he seemed to be taking a long time to change.

"i just don't like them, okay? They're loud, dangerous, and bad things happen during storms..." she trailed off, thinking about her childhood. Storms were used to cover up the fights. They were loud and scary.

kaila's expression grew grim. It wasn't like that. She was helping enan for the sole purpose of helping everyone else in return. He promised her nothing. She was the only one making promises, promises she probably couldn't even keep. "ren it's not like that. I love you. I help enan because he's the only seraph besides ammittai that I ever liked. He hasn't promised me anything. It's my fault kryios even had the ability to make you back into rapheal. That's why I have to make things right." she shook her head, tears slowly starting to build up. if you knew what I had to do to bring you back, you'd be even more angry. Nothing happened with enan...kryios, kryios is another story. just thinking about it made her heart wretch.

 

Kiel glanced over her shoulder to watch as Angeal took the nail out of his mouth and set it in the hole it belonged in, "Are you interested in my work? This is the base of the wing I'm working on. If you look at someone's wings...the base is where they connect to your body. It's crucial to working any part of the wing. This one, however, will not connect into the body, like Sanya's does. It connects into a harness I made. Since...Sanya went through years of surgery and therapy to implant her wing and connect the nerves and muscles to the joints and gears. I doubt Genesis would want to go through all that...so, I made a harness to strap on."

Penny jerked away from the door and pulled it open, his face turning scarlet from embarrassment, "I got it just fine..."

Genesis tilted his head to the side, curiosity pulling at him, "Bad things...happen during them? Like what? Despite the whole...lightning, severe winds...and heavy rain."

Ren hated seeing her like this. "Alright...I...shouldn't jump to conclusions. But Kaila...I don't want you doing things that will harm you. Please...let me deal with Kyrios now."

 

tori watched intensely. Her eyes followed every move angeal made, with wonder. It was so fascinating for some reason. "that's really cool. Could I...could I help?" it was the first time since they arrived at school that she felt as if she had a purpose. Her mind was engulfed in thoughts of mechanics.

"that's good." schuyler gave him a once-over and smiled. "you look nice. why...why are you all red?" she was confused by what could have been so embarrassing about changing in the bathroom.

giselle shook off the question and stood outside his bedroom. "it's not important. Really." she forced a smile to hide her discomfort from him. Talking about things wasn't her forte.

kaila moved closer to him and brushed away at his hair. "i'll do my best. Can't you just stay here? At least for the night? I'd even be okay with scraps curling up next to us if that's what you want, or it could just be the two of us." she smirked, wipe away a stray tear, and wrapped herself around him.

 

Angeal smiled gently at her, "Your help would be greatly appreciated. I could use a pair of slender fingers to pull the wires through." He rummaged around his crowded desk and held up an unfinished piece, "This portion here...will connect to the base I've created. It'll be the first joint of the wing. Unfortunately, I need to run a few wires through it and all the way to the tips of the wings in order to transmit the proper signals." Pointiing to the thin blue wires just barely poking out, Angeal set the piece in her hands.

Penny ignored her question and looked to Tristan and Jean, "Why're you two still here? This place is getting crowded." "You can say that again." Sanya's voice came from the doorway. Her golden eyes scanning each of them before settling on Angeal with a frown, "Are you still doing that? I told you...Genesis isn't going to want a mechanical wing. Kyrios won't let him. I know having a Seraph dictate what you can and can't do is foregin to you, but you still have to respect his wishes, Angeal." Angeal looked hurt as he set down the piece he was working on. "Yes...I apologize, Sanya. Perhaps not having a Seraph has made me foolish. So...what did Michael say?" Sanya folded her arms across her chest, "He agreed to think it over. I haven't seen him for a while...or Kaila. Perhaps...he changed his mind and went to tell her so. I can only hope my begging changed his mind..."

Genesis opened his door for her and shook his head, "Well...I guess I shouldn't be so pushy about it then. Anyway...you can take my bed again. I should catch up on my school work." He took a seat at his desk and flipped through pages of ancient text from Gabriel's class. Learning the old language was difficult.

Ren shifted himself around so he could at least half hold her with his good arm. "I know how much Scraps creeps you out. Even though he is a good boy, I guess skeleton dogs aren't that adorable." Closing his eyes, Ren mumbled, "I won't be going anywhere for a few nights... There might have been some good to Kyrios stealing my memories. I've recalled a bit more of what I wish I hadn't experienced. Yuukki...was nothing like you, Kaila. She was quiet...always so gentle and obedient. Such a woman...her own personality that I adored so much...ended her own life."

 

tori released kiel's hand and took the pieces in her own. She was about to do as angeal asked, until sanya came in scrutinizing them. "professor, do you mean...the archangel changed his mind...about professor camponella?" she was genuinely curious, along with delighted for her teacher. tori slipped the wires into the wing. Even if genesis didn't want it right away, he would hopefully change his mind in time.

tristan rolled his eyes and turned jean towards the door. "all right, whatever. I get the hint. Lets go jean."

giselle set the jacket down on the bed and looked over to the bathroom. "actually, do you mind if I take a shower?" all she wanted to do was wash another horrible birthday away. Showers always helped make things better.

kaila snuggled up next to ren and buried her face in the crook of his neck. "as long as you know what's what, i'm happy." and as long as he doesn't plan on going anywhere, she can get things done.

 

Sanya smiled and nodded, "Brother Michael is much kinder than you'd imagine."

Jean followed Tristan, casting a last look at everyone. Even if she couldn't return to the Summer Court's Angel's home, she belonged beside Tristan.

Genesis flipped through the pages, waving her off, "Nah....it's in the bathroom..." It was only after he'd given her permission that his mind wandered away from ancient languages to Giselle taking a shower in the next room from where he was sitting.

 

Tori rolled her eyes and looked back down at the wires held firmly between her fingers. could'a fooled me. she already didn't care for him, but was thankful that he changed his mind so quickly. The professor seemed rather broken up about it that morning. her gazed moved up to angeal and she looked at him with hopeful eyes. "did I do this right?" sanya may think it's a waste of time, but to tori it wasn't. If he wouldn't ask for help he could at least give this wing a shot.

tristan held jean tightly to his body as they walked back to his room. "so what did you lady's do during your girl's night?" he smiled at her, genuine curiousity in his voice. What could they have possibly been doing that almost cost penny his life? Surely it was nothing exciting.

giselle nodded quietly and pushed open the bathroom door. She was going to call her mom again, only to realize she left her phone in her pocket. great... My clothes are in schuyler's room. she sighed and turned on the shower faucet. The small room was filled with steam before she had the opportunity to get in. giselle lifted her hands up to pull down the straps of the dress, then noticed that she forgot to lock the bathroom door. She turned the locked and stared at the doorknob for a minute before getting undressed. this feels so weird. I'm not used to needing the bathroom door locked, or having someone within earshot of the shower. giselle stepped into the stream of water and scruntched up her nose at the sight of his bath products. why do men's hygeine products always smell gross? Oh...this body wash is...good. It...smells like him. Or I guess he smells like it...i like it. she smiled as the liquid squeezed out onto a washcloth.

 

Angeal took the wing from her and examined it. Nudging around a few of the wires that were now sticking out, he sniffed, "Yup, looks like a solid job, Tori. The rest will be pretty delicate work. I'll give you a call when I can use your hands again."

Jean blinked up at him, "Last night? Oh, we were going to have a party for Giselle...but Genesis burst in...he kept saying that he needed Giselle to come with him. He was pretty scary. Giselle went with him...and then everybody else came, asking where you and Penny had gotten off to." She hugged his waist, "I've no idea what happened after that. Everybody just...left."

Genesis shook his head hard and slammed the book shut. "Focus...Genesis...focus..." Tapping his fingers on the cover of the book, he stood and rummaged through his drawers. Dragging out a more raggedy shirt, he traded shirts and slipped off his belt. He'd given Giselle his bed and thus...he'd have to find a comfy place on his floor to lay out the old japanese futon he kept.

 

Tori smiled, pleased with what angeal told her. "all right, thanks. Kiel, maybe we should go now. I don't think giselle is coming back." she turned to leave, anticipating that kiel would follow after. i hope everything works out for everyone.

tristan grimaced as jean squeezed him. "I'm sorry if i worried you. Penny just really wanted to see what you were all doing. Well mostly schuyler, then that crazy teacher appeared." he ran his fingers through his hair uncomfortably. Tristan opened the door to his room nano sat down on the bed next to his sword. "if i would have had this thing on me, we probably could have taken her." he held it up and stared at his reflection in the blade.

giselle shoved her face in the flow of water and turned off the faucet. The air in the bathroom was cold without the shower steam. She rung her hair out and stepped on the cool tile floor. Giselle shivered as she wrapped a towel around her body. i could use some clean clothes. I guess schuyler's dress will have to do. she slipped back into the dress and dried off her hair before returning to genesis's room.

 

Kiel promptly followed Tori without a word, leaving Angeal and Sanya alone. As soon as the door closed he could hear their raised, muffled voices. "Sounds like Sanya had more of a bone to pick with him than informing us Professor Camponella's punishment had been lifted."

Jean frowned, "I don't understand... Elena, the teacher that attacked you, is of the Summer Court. Why would she attack two humans bound to the Summer Court... Perhaps someone was controlling her?"

Genesis pulled at his hair and picked up a small snowglobe off his dresser, "I guess...I can't very well suggest we share the bed...huh?" Shaking the snowglobe, he watched the little fake snowflakes fall around a tiny figure of an angel.

 

tori sighed and shook her head in dismay. "yeah. sadly it does. he seems really nice. i can't imagine what there is to yell about." she pulled at the ends of her hair as they walked. at this point she could almost walk the halls blindfolded. her mind had gone completely elsewhere thinking about everything that was to come. they were trying to prevent an all out war, a war that no one was prepared to fight.

tristan shrugged. he didn't know the woman. he had never even met her before. for all he knew, the person everyone else saw was the illusion and the one that attacked them was the real version. she sounded pretty real, talking about how she had been waiting all that time. the other teacher didn't even look scared. confident, maybe, but not scared. "yeah, jean. perhaps. i don't know what else to tell you. she just came out of nowhere. i don't like that whole, 'jumping through space thing,' or whatever it is they do. it did not feel natural." he resheathed the sword and leaned it up against the nightstand. tristan patted the spot on the bed next to him for jean to come sit down. "are you staying here?"

giselle let out a nervous chuckle. did he seriously just say that? it appeared so. "i uh...i don't mind...i guess. sharing that is...or...i uh..." she pulled at the collar of the dress to shake away the heat. was she as red as she felt? she wasn't prepared for something like this. giselle swallowed the lump in her throat and wiped away at her forehead. "i uh...i could go back into that other room. the one...the one you had me stay in last night. th-then no one will get in trouble."

 

Jean nodded and sat beside him, "Well I don't exactly have a Summer angel coming to pick me up to go home."

Genesis waved his hands in front of his face, "Oh, that's not...I didn't mean... I've still got some homework to do. I don't mind if you use my bed. I probably won't be able to sleep anyways." That part at least was true. Who could sleep when there was a girl in his bed?
