tristan looked around a bit as they walked and shook his head. nothing looked like a potential sign that they were going in the right direction.
"i'm pretty sure we're lost bro."

tori raised an eyebrow at jean as she picked up the disheveled suitcase.
"sure. what can i do?"
she started tossing everything into the dresser drawers and skimmed through what clothes gabriel managed to salvage for something clean to wear.

kingsley walked outside and caught sight of kiel and genesis arguing.
"hey! you're my sister's friends right? have either of you seen her?"
he walked over to them, ignoring the tense mood.

schuyler pulled giselle into her messy room, which was just down the stairs from tori's. the first floor had it's perks, but her friend was staying up a lot higher. she silently dragged giselle into the bathroom before she finally spoke again.
"here, you can sit here."
she gestured to the toilet, which had the lid down, and started pulling some things out of the cupboard. giselle was naturally pretty, schuyler didn't understand what she could be so insecure about.
"ya' know, you have like perfect make-up skin. like any color would look great on you. hmm...maybe something light."
she pulled out a stick of peach lipstick and some cream colored eye shadow. schuyler started doing her make-up and smiled when she was done. she felt oddly accomplished by it and started curling out the ends of giselle's hair.

 

Penny frowned a little and kept walking. "I could've sworn my senses were telling me this way... Surely it can't be that hard to find...right?"

"Find what?" A woman's voice startled Penny and he jerked back from the sight of Elena weilding a wickedly sharp dagger in her hand. "Oh, my apologies...did I startle you? You boys shouldn't be wandering around here all alone. It's dangerous here without supervision." She laughed wildly and brandished the dagger.

Jean clasped Tori's hands and bowed her head, "All you have to do is pray. I've got what we're praying for."

Kiel half turned towards Kingsley, "Yeah, they all headed up to Tori's room...said something about a girl's night. Why...something the matter?"

 

tristan took a step away from he woman with the knife. something felt off about her and he didn't want to stick around to figure out why.
"oh um...nothing. it's fine. we'll just go back the way we came. it's not that important."
he pointed his thumbs back over his shoulder and started walking backwards.

tori shook her head confused.
"i don't understand. what exactly am i supposed to pray for? i'm just supposed to ask for a strengthened link or what?"
she sat back down on the bed holding her clothes in one hand.

kingsley smirked and glanced back toward the girl's tower.
"they all, huh? interesting. well while you two stand here bickering, i'm going to go find my sister in a room filled with presumably beautiful girls. i mean, that new seraph girl is pretty attractive and giselle...well she's already mine. we got married, ya' know."
he smiled smugly at genesis and shoved his hands in his jacket pockets. kingsley headed back to the doors to continue his search for his sister. he really needed to talk to her and what better way to do so then in the company of something pretty?

giselle sat on the toilet quietly while schuyler made her "party perfect," as she put it. she wasn't allowed to look in the mirror and had to trust that everything she did was to benefit her. Her long hair was all wavy and schuyler seemed to have loaded it up with all sorts of sprays and gels. She never tried this hard to look nice before. The bathroom was filled with so many different smells from all of the products that it was a little overwhelming. Schuyler left her in there alone for a minute, only to return with an arm full of clothes.
"here. try these on. i thought it might suite you nicely."
giselle took the clothes and stared down at the yellow sundress in her arms.
"i don't really wear dresses."
she watched schuyler roll her eyes and walk out of the bathroom, leaving her to change in private. she slipped out of her dirty clothes from the day before and pulled the dress over her head, careful not to ruin all the hard work schuyler did to her hair. the spaghetti straps hung loosely over her thin shoulders and she glanced down. giselle frowned. she didn't really fill out the bust of the dress the way the designer had probably intended. she was rather small and it showed. giselle gave a deep sigh and then slipped into the matching yellow flats. schuyler apparently put a lot of work into how she coordinated her attire. she had a few things to learn.

schuyler stared down at her messy floor trying to decide what to wear. she put so much thought into giselle's outfit that she hadn't really taken the time to consider her own. the clothes that she had picked out yesterday and then had to change out of were still sitting on the floor by the bed and she walked over to them. they were meant for her date with penny and he never got to see her wear it. schuyler changed back into the black skirt, red tank top and matching red heels, and the various black accessories she had out to go with it. she inspected herself in the mirror and smiled. picture perfect, as always.

 

Elena advanced towards them and roots broke through the marble floors behind them. Penny's eyes grew wider and wider with each passing second. "Holy.... L-listen...I'd rather not die like this... Um...a-aren't you a teacher here? We're...supposed to be the 'Chosen humans' or something...right?" Elena's green eyes flared, "That's right... THAT'S RIGHT! Chosen!? Ha! More like pitied! By chance you were picked. Your lives are worthless to me. What do I gain by Demise dying? NOTHING! Another few years of working in this prison before I'm discovered? No...that simply won't do. I'd rather die here...than die by those filthy, do-gooder angels!" Launching herself at them, the dagger flying dangerously close to Tristan's face, she tackled Penny and stabbed downwards.

Jean shushed her for the eighth time before there was a knock at the door. Hurrying to open it, Jean let in several Summer Court angels wearing bright colors and carrying food and drinks and a sound system.

Kiel growled and Genesis became even paler. "That 'new seraph girl' has a name and a boyfriend. I suggest...if you want to keep all your appendages you keep your hands to yourself. As for Giselle...well...I think she's Genesis' problem currently." Genesis shook his head slowly, "She's not...a problem... Just...a crush...it'll go away..." Before Kiel could snap back a retort a long whip wrapped around Kingsley's ankle and jerked him to a halt. "Going somewhere, Mr. Kingsley? You've been skipping classes since you got here and you've missed more than a few days of class. We wouldn't want you to fail now would we?" Uriel's tone was ice cold and her smile even more biting. Though she held the end of the whip in her left hand, her right rested on the hilt of her sword at her hip.

 

"Elena! That's enough!"
Kaila sent fire at the roots and kicked the other teacher off of penny. it was rather out of character for the quiet music teacher, and she noticed something off about her when she came to visit. she pulled penny to his feet and stepped in front of the humans.
"it was you, wasn't it? that attack last night? he tipped me off you know. told me it was someone from inside the school."
she shook her head in dismay. the gun from her end table appeared in her hand and she sighed, pointing it at elena.

tristan stood behind the teacher. he was shaking and didn't know what to do. just standing there didn't seem right, but he didn't know how he could possibly help.

tori watched all the angels walk into her room. she was awed by just how serious they were. she smiled and started walking to the bathroom.
"wow. you weren't kidding. if i ever need a party planned, you'll be at the top of my list."
tori winked at jean before closing the bathroom to change.

kingsley stopped walking and turned to see the owner of the whip. he smiled at his teacher in his usual happy-go-lucky attitude. even though her words were meant to be intimidating, he just brushed it off.
"oh professor, i didn't see you there. you're right. i was just going to go talk to my little sister quick, and then get all of my assignments from the teachers. probably spend the entire night in the library getting caught up. i suppose since you're here, i can find out what i've missed in a.c.t right now?"
he stepped closer to the headmaster, causing the whip to slack a bit. kingsley noticed her hand hovering over the sword, but he didn't care. he had no intentions of attacking anyone, so there would be no reason for her to strike him.

schuyler walked back into the bathroom, seeing giselle dressed and smiled.
"perfect. we should probably head back to tori's room. help set up and whatnot."
she watched giselle finally take a look at herself in the mirror and couldn't help but laugh at the shocked expression. it was like she had never looked in a mirror before.

 

Elena staggered backwards not only from Kaila's kick but the burning of her roots caused physical damage to her body. Burn marks appeared on what skin was shone on her arms. Her fingers turned a blackish color. She lowered her chin to her chest and chuckled darkly, "So you managed to seduce a hint out of him. He always was easy to provoke to any emotion...lust or anger." She didn't have the dagger anymore and her breath hissed through her teeth as she breathed through the pain. "I'm doing you all a KINDNESS! Relieving you of these...foul creatures that have taken our place in the lime light for so long. What's my soul...my body...my heart to all of yours. So go ahead and shoot me...but others will see....the truth, Kaila!"

Penny leaned against the wall, he felt chilled. Like winter had set within his bones. "Hey....is it cold in here...or jusssssme?" he attempted a smile but the slurring of his words caught him off guard. Blinking slowly he felt the only warmth of a certain wetness gliding down his pants. Slowly, painfully slowly, he lowered his eyes to find the hilt of the dagger Elena had held sheathed in his stomach. "Oh...well that can't be.....gooo--" his eyes unfocused and he slumped down the wall until he hit the floor, his breathing becoming labored as shock set within him. His hands fumbled clumsily around the wound as the dark stain of crimson spread on his shirt. The only thought in his head was how excited Schuyler was about being able to go on a date later. Had he disappointed her now?

Jean grinned after her and supervised where everything went. She mumbled orders softly and they listened intently.

Uriel's brown eyes glittered with challenge as she retracted her whip to her side, cracking it once on the grass and coiling it into it's place behind her. "You've been gone...three...four days? You owe me 96 hours of training....of blood and sweat. You're older than your sister...I expect the intensity of your class to not bother you." She drew her sword from it's sheath. "You'll be seeing no one until my time has been returned to me."

 

kaila shook her head and grimaced. she had always liked elena and witnessing the evil that she had succumb to was probably the most depressing part of the day, oddly enough. "you were doing a good job. you held out so long without slipping up. even showing me that thing with ren a few days ago and telling me about the man at the hotel, it was rather quite genius. shooting you would be too quick. you don't deserve something like that. it wouldn't cause you punishment, but freedom. i won't free you elena. i'm not that stupid." she heard penny talk about getting cold and instinctively thought of enan, then noticed the blood. kaila sighed and rolled her eyes. "you play dirty my dear." kaila shot twice at elena's forearm so that she couldn't cast magic and then sent a wall of water at her that froze as it hit the wall. "don't go anywhere hon." she grabbed tristan and penny's arms and reappeared in the infirmary.

tristan's eyes were wide as the hallway and the psycho teacher disappeared and the infirmary opened up around him. his stomach did flips as it settled from the magic and he was just geared up. "how was...that was...awesome!" he had a thousand things running through his head, but was brought back to earth at the sight of penny bleeding out on the floor. "oh." tristan stood there helplessly as the teacher that came to save them and the nurse shuffled over penny and got him up on a cot. "i can't stay and help. there's something i have to get back to right away. He watched the teacher disappear just as quickly as she brought them to the infirmary.

tori exited the bathroom wearing a pair of shorts and a button up blouse. she watched as her bedroom was transformed into a party room. "this is impressive. i don't know if we can fit all these people in here the entire time though." tori stood there by jean counting all the angels in her bedroom setting up.

schuyler and giselle walked back up the stairs to tori's room. when she opened tori's door to find her room full of other angels, she stood in the threshold gawking. "i didn't think we were gone for that long."

kingsley sighed and pulled his hands out of his pocket. "professor leahpar has my sword. he wanted to inspect it or something. can i go get it, or is there another one i can use?"

 

Elena shrieked in pain as a bullet pierced her arm and then again in fury as Kaila blocked the boys and herself from her. "I hate you! I hate you! I HATE you!" she shrieked to no one in particular over and over again. She glanced behind her, the rest of the hallway lie unbarred and she scampered down it, racing away from Kaila's magic and towards her classroom.

Penny swallowed convulsivly and shivered with enough force that he winced every time he moved too much. "This has to be...one of the most....challenging days of my life." he stammered out and the nurse placed a cloth in his mouth and told him to bite down on it as she slowly pulled the dagger from his stomach. Penny did just that, bite, cry and scream. The nurse paused with the blade halfway out and frowned. "I think it's pierced something vital. Mr. Grimm what can you feel?" she asked without taking her eyes off of the wound, but when he didn't answer she looked to his face and found his eyes closed. "Mr. Grimm? Mr. Grimm!!"

Jean smiled and waved the angels out the door, "They aren't staying. Go home now boys." They left shaking their heads and smiling. A few even set a gentle hand on her shoulder and whispered for her to stay strong. The Summer angels passed by Schuyler and Giselle and hesitated, taking the time to compliment her and paw at her. A few even grazed hands along her body. Nevertheless, they stayed clear of Giselle as if she were covered in poison. The color of her dress attracted them but they stiffened when they drew near as if she smelt bad. They looked at her with golden eyes of sadness, regret and pity.

Uriel twirled her sword in her hand...a nervous gesture. "Mr. Rhaphsodos...your sword to Mr. Kingsley please." Genesis jerked and clutched at his sword reflexively as if it were his security blanket. He seemed to cringe inwards, "But...Professor..." Before he could finish, Kiel stabbed his own sword into the ground before Kingsley. The black blade, the same one Gabriel gave him, glittered harshly against the sunlight and Uriel lifted her head in expectation. For the short professor, her battle stance was wide, her brown hair swirled around her neck in a nonexistant wind and her wings shone through into reality. They were white and fluffy and much larger than the average angels wings to compensate for her size or from her status as Archangel.

 

tristan stood there shaking penny's arm furiously. "hey penny! man wake up. wake up! how are we supposed to save the world together if you're dead? and schuyler...she just started to like you again." he was frantic and staring at the nurse desperately. "isn't there something you can do? that seraph guy healed me and i wasn't even dying."

schuyler was enjoying all the attention from the other summer angels, even the ones that made obvious passes at her. she was smiling at them and saying hello to each one of the guys that had shown interest. the only thing bringing her back from cloud nine was the look on giselle's face. then she noticed the looks the other summer angels were giving her. schuyler figured it had something to do with what lady kallai had informed her of that morning.

giselle stood there uncomfortably as all of the summer angels stared at her with pity. she couldn't help but try and cover herself up at their gazes.

tori was watching the summer angels leave when she heard a distinct noise. her eyes froze and she had to grab onto the foot board to keep her balance. "did anyone else hear that? it...it sounded like a gunshot." she pushed through the crowd in the doorway and started to hurry down the hallway.

kingsley picked up the black sword and inspected it briefly. "cool. not as cool as mine, but still cool." he watched uriel take her stance and he gulped nervously. he held up the blade defensively, but stopped when kaila came bursting out onto the field.

"uriel! forgive me for interrupting, but we have a serious problem." she ran across the grass quickly to uriel's side. kaila whispered to the headmaster about what happened. she didn't want to inform the students about what happened, but they were partially to blame. they were supposed to be protecting the humans and yet two of them were walking around without anyone to keep an eye on them.

 

The nurse donned a serious expression and nodded to him. "I shall do all that I can, but I am not in legue with the Seraphim's power." Her hands hovered in a triangle over the wound. "Grasp the hilt of the dagger. When I tell you to, pull it out. I should be able to stem the bleeding." A warm glow emitted from her palms and radiated into Penny's skin.

Jean slid her gaze to the floor as the angels left. She reached after Tori as she fled the room. "Tori, wait! A gunshot...but shouldn't someone go with her that can protect her?" She glanced to Schuyler since Giselle and herself were human. The Summer Angels set aside admiring Schuyler and ran after Tori. Apart of their duty to make sure the young ladies were unharmed.

Uriel listened intently to Kaila and shook with rage and disbelief. "This cannot be.... Kingsley stay here with Zadkiel and Genesis! I will not have this behavior in my school! Kaila take me to her. She's forgotten herself and her place here." Uriel sheathed her sword and snatched up her whip. Her wings faded from view and still power crackled in the air around her.

Elena shattered pots in her classroom, applying different ointments to her wound and even allowing a Blood Rave, a blood feeding plant, wrap it's roots around her wound and feed from her. It would serve as her bandage until otherwise. The plants in her room burst from their vases and pots and overgrew at a rapid pace, breaking the windows of her room and breaking down the door and spilling out into the hallways.

 

tristan wrapped his fingers firmly around the handle. there was fear in his eyes as he watched penny slipping away. he couldn't let him die. this wasn't something he was prepared for. "oh-okay." his hands held onto the knife shakily. he didn't know if he could really pull a knife out of his friend's abdomen.

schuyler stood there nervously watching the other summer court angels run out after tori. she wanted to go with, but knew how bad of an idea it was. "i'm sure it's nothing, but if it is something...well then i can't leave the two of you." she kept peaking her head out the door, watching the hallways for any sign.

kaila grabbed uriel's arm and disappeared once more, reforming where she had left elena. she didn't appear to be in the hall anymore, but there was a trail of blood. kaila inspected it quickly before turning in the direction of the blood. "i'm sure she headed for her classroom, judging by the trail." kaila lifted her gaze, seeing the young seraph running toward them.

tori slid down the hall in her shoes, finally coming to the sight of blood and her teachers. "what...what happened?" she was out of breath and holding her chest panting. judging by the look on the professors' faces, it definitely wasn't good. "miss harnest, i suggest you head to the infirmary immediately. your presence will be needed." tori lingered a moment longer, waiting to see if they said anything else. then, she started running again, but in the direction of the infirmary.

kingsley watched the teachers disappear and frowned. whatever happened wasn't good. he held the sword out to kiel, returning him his weapon. "i wonder what happened." his eyes trailed to the door and debated crossing uriel's command.

 

The nurse let a burst of power flow through her and into Penny and she panted one word to Tristan, "Now!" If the blade would be removed, she would have to work quickly and fight off the approaching darkness on the edges of her vision and close the internal wounds. If she failed, this boy would not survive.

Uriel dabbed at the blood and tasted it before spitting it out. "She is not bespelled... I never would've imagined Elena to fall this far. Then to her classroom we go on foot. I will not allow myself to be warped into a trap set by a master of plants." Uriel figured she'd come to them if they waited long enough in the right place, but she didn't have time to wait. If Elena was acting of someone else's accord, that someone else could be acting now too.

Kiel took his sword and headed towards the doors. Genesis yelled after him, "Professor Uriel told us to stay put!" Kiel glared at him hard, "Tori is inside...without a guard. Seraph or not, she shouldn't be alone without her protector. Plus...somewhere in there is Tristan, and he's apart of my responsibility. Giselle is inside too...shouldn't you be there?" Genesis tensed, "Allen is outsid with us. He is my duty also. Schuyler is with her...I trust her to look after her." Kiel nodded and continued towards the school. He shut the door hard behind him as he ran through the halls.

 

tristan ripped the knife out of penny's stomach on the nurse's command. he could see the blood pouring out quicker and he panicked, tossing the knife across the room. his hand felt like it was on fire and he clutched his wrist. the blood-soaked blade had imprinted itself in the front of his brain and it was all he could see.

kaila nodded silently and walked alongside uriel in the direction of elena's classroom. "i...i think she's been like this for a long time. that's how she spoke in any case." she shook her head slowly and glanced down at the gun still in her hand. it was the first time she had ever fired it and it was at a friend. what has this world come to?

tori sprinted through the halls in the direction of the infirmary. she hesitated at the door before finally pushing it slowly open.

kingsley watched kiel leave, claiming he needed to protect the new seraph. he sighed and then looked back at genesis. there was something about him that didn't sit right with kingsley, but he figured it would be best to overlook it. "i'm sure she's fine. my sister is strong and rather determined. i don't think she'd let anything happen to her. it's not in her nature." comforting the kid felt awkward, but some part of him felt the need to.

 

The nurse gulped down air, her eyes barely moving as Tori entered. Her legs shook and still the wound would not close. "I can't...." Her power faded and she slumped to the floor. Penny's blood filled his insides. "Without taking the wound unto myself...there is nothing more I can do. I cannot heal him."

Uriel glanced at Kaila, "A mortal weapon... I'm assuming you did well protecting the humans. When Elena refused to leave on a trip to the forests of Africa...I began to worry of her mentality. That was two years ago. Her refusal of owning any Forget-Me-Not flowers proved that she had stopped taking her trips to replenish her stock of supplies. Elena would never allow herself to be out of a plant...at least...the Elena I knew before wouldn't have." Uriel drew her sword as they neared Elena's hallway and found the sweet scent of flowers spreading into the other halls. "It's already begun. Elena's going to try to bring the school down with her plants. If we wish to interrogate her, do not use fire against her plants. Cut them down."

 

tori stumbled through the infirmary at the sight of penny on the cot. "what...what happened?" she watched the nurse give up on healing him and she rushed passed them. her hands were shaking as she pushed tristan to the side. she held them over the wound, not sure if she could actually do anything to help. "how...?" tori tried to focus the way she did when she healed her leg, but it was hard. there was something seriously wrong with penny, unlike the injury to her leg. it was even harder for her to concentrate on directing the repth out of her hands, rather than spreading it throughout her body.

kaila waved her hand and the gun was replaced with a large hunting knife. her weapons supply appeared to be endless. she held it out, steadily aiming it forward. "i'm not letting her succeed."

 

The nurse closed her eyes and wept. Her power was spent and the boy would die if Tori couldn't figure out her own powers.

Uriel's sword glowed and her wings reappeared, taking up most of the hallway as she rushed into the sickly sweet scent and immediately parried attacking vines and roots.

Genesis grew ever more hateful, fisting his hands he turned his back on the school and Kingsley. "I don't care if she can handle her own. It is my duty to protect them because Micheal has said so. I'm not about to disobey my Professor's orders to chase after a human girl when she has an angel with her. She....she doesn't mean anything to me personally." Though it tore his heart to speak such words, he wanted...needed it to be true. Despite what he'd told Giselle earlier.

 

tori bit her lip nervously. she watched the light leave her hands and get absorbed into penny's wound. "this...this might hurt..." she was saying it more to herself than to the unconscious human. it was what yves had told her when he healed her, so she only hoped that if she said it to penny as well, then she might actually be doing it right. she noticed tristan still shaking penny's arm and telling him to wake up. it was rather distracting, but she dealt with it anyway. "come on penny. come back to us...to schuyler. what's she gonna say if you just leave like this? we've spent all this time upstairs planning a party. i'm sure she's been thinking about dancing with you or something. you can't let her down." tori couldn't help but start crying. she couldn't let someone die because she was ill prepared as a seraphim.

kaila followed uriel into the room, hacking at any vine's that came at her. she had to keep herself from blasting them with wave after wave of fire, but it didn't stop her from freezing them. a freezing elena would be easier to deal with than one covered in burns or on fire.

kingsley studied genesis's back skeptically. he shrugged and slipped his hands back into his coat pockets. "why lie to yourself, kid? she's pretty incredible and you obviously like her. you'll have to fight me for her though." there was a smirk on his face as he started to remember part of the reason why he had been gone, along with a few other memories that he didn't realize were missing. "there's nothing wrong with how you feel, other than the fact that she already belongs to someone else. giselle just doesn't realize it yet." kingsley wanted to see how far he could push the guy before he got a real reaction out of him.

 

Invisible hands pressed Tori's into Penny's wound, through the layer of blood and onto the injured vitals. "We wouldn't want you to heal the outside before the inside. Do not fear Tori...the pain will bring him back. If you panic, your power will overflow." Yves chuckled lightly and the feel of a thousand wings fluttering against their skin created a shiver in the air. "He's here...you'd best work quickly my dearest Tori."

Uriel was obviously furious, her powers summoning several of the weapons from just down the hall to hack away at the plants. Finally they reached the doorway and a large multicolored rose blocked the way. Uriel lifted her wings and flapped once as she slashed at the rose. Sparks flew from her blade and Uriel disappeared. The flower fell, the bud disconnected from the stem onto the floor and withered away. Uriel stood behind it, scratches covered her skin of her face and arms. "She's not here. Elena's thorns lie beyond and not even she would stay and let them tear her to pieces. She's fled the school, most likely to report to her employer."

Genesis closed his eyes against Kingsley's words. "If you think you can provoke me into a duel for her....you're dreaming. I am Giselle's protector, nothing more. Who belongs in her heart...is her choice and her buisness not mine. I won't fight you over a woman that I'm not allowed to touch." Protecting himself against Kingsley came before the feelings in his heart. He swore he'd never bring her to the hotel and if Kingsley was what stood between the hotel and her then he would allow Kingsley to remain the wall that kept her safe from what he could not protect her from. "If you're so intent....then swear to me...give me your solom word that you will do all you can to keep her away from the Dark Court's Hotel."

 

tori sniffled and could feel her hands covered in blood. they were warm and sticky. it made her cringe. "come on penny. come back...come back..." she could feel the rush of blood slowing and she breathed a sigh of relief. i think it's working.

kaila sighed and held the knife to her side. she was covered in cuts and her clothes looked torn up from the thorns. "i think...i may know whom she went to see." she looked over at uriel stearnly. "we need to have a meeting right away. with all the other teachers..." kaila paused thinking of ren. "except ren. he wouldn't understand what's going on anyway. kryios took away his memories. he has no idea about what's going on anymore." her eyes were sad and she pursed her lips. she was going to do her best to help him, but in the end it would still only hurt.

kingsley rolled his eyes. the kid wasn't even willing to try. he wasn't going to him any favors if he wasn't willing to fight for her, even if it did mean keeping her out of danger.
