Uriel struggled up, shaking her head to clear it. "It isn't meant to be funny, Tori. In order to motivate your training...it's good to see what you will be fighting. Demise's dormant form may be intimidating but with the right training it isn't very strong."

Penny nodded and took a few deep breaths to calm himself.

Genesis sheathed his sword, stepping to the side of Giselle.

 

kaila walked in the direction of the training grounds. She needed to speak with uriel and class would be ending shortly. Her throat was raw and itchy and her mouth tasted like acid. For being one person, she was dealing with a great amount of stress. The only thing she looked forward to about joining kryios at the hotel was hopefully having that stress taken away. He wouldn't let her die because she was already receiving far worse punishments, but odds are she would be hollow. An empty vessel void of emotion. Kaila wondered if kryios was going to try and steal her memories next.

tori rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. She walked over to kiel who was now wearing a blue t-shirt and grumbled some profanity.
"hate this..."

schuyler rubbed her hands on penny's biceps trying to comfort him. The illusion was just that, but it had still been frightening.

giselle looked at genesis next to her. She had calmed down, but wondered if he had as well.
"you okay?"
She bent down to pick up the bow and the sheath of arrows.

 

Kiel rubbed her shoulders comfortingly, "What on earth happened while I was gone? Penny looks like he saw a ghost...you're pissed and Genesis looks like someone sounded an alarm and then shut it off without telling him if it was an attack or not.

Penny shuddered, "Well that was...frightening. Jeez...that thing...was gross."

Genesis couldn't relax, "Yeah...I don't like it when the teachers do things like that."

 

tori shot penny a death glare, then glanced back at kiel behind her.
"sounds about right. Mr. smartypants over there said 'it's to take class seriously when he doen't even know what we're fighting.' So the professor showed him, but without saying she was going to. Plus she collapsed from it so it appeared worse than it was."
She brushed his hands off her shoulders and turned to face him. He already looked better in his new t-shirt.

schuyler laughed at penny's discomfort.
"well what'd you expect? Something cute?"
She pulled him in for a hug and stroked the back of his head.
"don't worry. I'll protect you. The big creepy monster wont stand a chance."

she set a hand on his shoulder. He was clearly still on edge and it made her feel bad.
"is...is there something I can do?"
Giselle's voice was soft and her eyes kind.

 

Kiel glanced over to Penny and over to Uriel who was already standing and glowering at a pair of students who weren't fighting correctly. "Seems like I miss all the good stuff when I leave. Maybe I should've just risked an awkward situation and stayed shirtless."

Penny brushed her off, snatching the staff from the ground, "Oh c'mon Schuyler...I wasn't expecting...that. I didn't think she'd show me what it was... A description...maybe a small picture...? But a life size illusion? Kinda...still way too new to me."

Genesis suppressed his flinch. He expected her to try to comfort him this time. Taking her hand in his, he let an easy smile slide over his face, "I'm alright. After all...I've probably seen scarier things in the Dark Court hotel." he laughed and it sounded tight and fragile.

 

tori smiled and held her sword up, pointing it at kiel's chest.
"yeah. Maybe you should have."
Her smile faded into a smirk and she winked at him.

schuyler was trying not to laugh at penny's dismay. She patted him on the shoulder smiling. If he could be well enough provoked, there was a possibility that he might be a decent fighter.
"it's okay hun. I understand. You weren't prepared for this kind of lifestyle. No one is judging you. You should just leave the monster fighting to me. I wouldn't want you to get hurt."
She nodded her head reassuringly, even though she was toying with him.

giselle nodded uncomfortably. He was mentioning that hotel again and she didn't really like thinking that he would want to spend time there.
"oh. Okay. As long as you're fine."
She held the bow tightly in her hand, channeling the frustration she felt into her grip.

 

Kiel gave her a seductive smile, tapping her sword with his finger, "Perhaps you'd prefer me to not have any good shirts."

Penny huffed and poke her head with his index finger, "Yeah, I'm going to let a girl fight for me. No offense, but I think it would be an insult to my pride as a man."

Genesis sighed, "Hey...class is ending. It's about time for dinner. I'd like to shower before dinner starts. That means you have to come to my room with me."

 

the corner of tori's mouth twitched upwards.
"perhaps."
She had been semi-focusing on genesis and giselle's conversation with her telepathy. It was mostly background noise, but something had finally caught her attention. She held her finger up to kiel and resheethed the sword.
"hold on."
Tori left him and ran over to the two of them, butting in.
"actually genesis, I thought giselle could come with me for a bit. She really shouldn't be in your room and quite frankly I don't like the way you've been hogging her. My turn. Right schuyler?"
She looked back over her shoulder at schuyler and penny and watched give a kind of forced uncomfortable nod. Tori smiled brightly at genesis, even though her tolerance for him has greatly diminished.

giselle stood between tori and genesis awkwardly. She didn't appreciate being refered to like a thing or as if she weren't actually present. She really wanted to spend some alone time with him and talk about what he intended for their relationshio, but the thought of possibly making friends delighted her. Tori seemed very friendly and harmless.

schuyler gave tori an awkward nod, then looked back at penny. Her plan had been working perfectly and if she poked at him just a little bit more, she might get a real attack out of him before class ended.
"well I wouldn't want anything to happen to you. You're not really fighter material yet. And that would just reflect poorly on my part as yout protector. Until you can take down one of them,"
She pointed over to genesis and then to kiel.
"you should just leave the fighting to me. I've been practicing for years and you have a lot of catching up to do."
Schuyler didn't want to hurt his feelings, but it seemed like it might be the only way to motivate him enough to really try.

 

Kiel shook his head as she butted in between Genesis and Giselle. Tori was unpredictable. First she wanted them together and now she wanted them away from each other. From the bummed look ond Genesis' face, he assumed he'd had something planned. But he wasn't about to feel sorry for him just yet. The guy had attacked him after all.

Genesis bit down on his tongue, even as he spoke the words were rigid and uncomfortable. "If that's what Giselle wants to do. I'd be trusting you to keep an eye on her while I'm not around." Now his back felt stiff and he was much too hot in his clothes. "I'll see you at dinner then, Giselle." Waving, he turned on his heel and headed back towards the school.

Penny frowned, though it seemed more like pouting. "Take down...one of them, huh? Alright...I'll prove to you I'm fighting material. Then...you'll be the one asking me to protect you. You'll see, Schuyler, you'll see." He fist pumped the air and headed over to Kiel, slapping him on the back, surprising him into flipping the poor human over Kiel's shoulder and onto his back on the ground. Penny lay dazed and turned a bright red. "Whoa, take it easy guy." Kiel gave him a little smile, "Sorry. I don't like people sneaking up behind me."

 

giselle watched how quickly he left and it was obvious that she was bummed out. She tried to put on a smile for tori, but it didn't go so well.
"so uh...what are we doing?"
She rubbed the back of her head and noticed the expression on tori's face. It made her feel sick.

tori smiled at her, but her smile seemed almost sinister as she dragged giselle back over to kiel.
"schuyler wanted to have a girl's night and we have yet to do so."
She glanced down at penny, lying on the ground and frowned.
"giselle wait here. Penny, should you really be taking a nap right now?"
Tori didn't wait for him to respond before running off again. She stopped in front of tristan and jean, smiling.
"i would like to steal jean. If that's okay?"
Unlike when she asked for giselle, the question was actually directed at the summer girl. Not tristan.

schuyler held her hand out for penny. It was cute how he tried, but failed so easily. If they were to stand any chance in a month, he would gave to cram in a lot more training.
"whatever you say."
She was smiling at him even though he so easily lost. There was no way penny stood a chance, not against kiel and nor with how little training he had received. A boy's ego was so easy to bruise, like a banana.

tristan shrugged his shoulders and shoved his hands in his pockets. He didn't want jean to leave him, but it was her life. He nodded his head at her, showing support.
"do what you want. I don't either way."
Tristan did mind. A lot.

 

Kiel chuckled, watching Penny rub his head and scowled up at him, Tori and Schuyler in that order. "I'm not napping...I'm pretty sure I was just subjected to some hostile attack." He jumped up on his own, winking at Schuyler and trying to brush off the incident. Kiel shook his head, "You call it hostile attack...I call it self-defense. We need to get you bucked up, man." He watched him sulk and out of the corner of his eye watched Gabranth poke his head out from the school doors and give him a thumbs up. Stupid guy...was he always so easy going?

Jean hesitated, looking between Tristan and Tori. She wanted to stay with him, but she'd never had actual people want to spend time with her. Biting her lip, her large brown eyes landed on Gabranth. Squealing with delight, she snatched Tristan's hand and dragged him towards the well-built boy standing in front of the doors. "Gabe! You're back!"

 

tori watched jean avoid her question and run off to kiel's brother. she decided to return to kiel's side before he murdered someone. The idea that his father was one of the teachers and his older brother just popped up out of nowhere really bothered him. She could understand. The wound was just to fresh to dig deeper into it.
"are you going to be okay?"
She took his hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze.

schuyler watched penny get up and then looked over at who jean was so excited to see.
"who's that?"
She couldn't remember seeing him before or understand why he would have walked into their class.

tristan let jean drag him along, but he suddenly felt insignificant. He understood what she meant now. Everyone likes angels better. He wondered what was so special about this gabe fellow that had jean so excited. Now he really wished she would have taken tori up on her offer.

 

Kiel narrowed his eyes at Gabe's presence and shrugged, "I'll be fine. It's class and he's visiting...it's not like I can get angry for a reasonable reason." Penny shrugged and Kiel smacked him in the back of his head, "That happens to be Gabranth. My apparent half-brother. He's Gabriel's son."

Jean stopped in front of him and Gabe smiled down at her, though the expression was tight and strained. "Mornin' Jeanie. I see you've got a new friend." he nodded to Tristan and Jean hugged Tristan's arm, "He's not just a friend. Tristan's...my real boyfriend...for once in my life...and he's human." Gabe chuckled, "Glad to hear that. Yer name's Tristan, huh? Well, Tristan, I'm Gabe. I graduated a while ago, but...Pa sent me a letter saying he wanted me to eventually meet my half-brother." he scratched his head, "But it's not like that matters to you. Sorry, once I get talking, I never stop." Gabe stuck out his hand towards Tristan.

 

tori let go of his hand and wrapped her arm around kiel's waist. Her wing brushed up against his back.

schuyler couldn't help but glare at gabe a bit.
"so I guess i'm not the only one that got to see their brother today.
She shoved her hands in her pockets and stared at the ground.

tristan had on a forced smile and held out his hand to return the shake. There was something about him that really irked him.
"nice to meet you. So how did you two meet?"
he kept his eyes on jean.

 

Setting his arm over Tori's shoulers, Kiel lifted one eyebrow at Schuyler, "What? Hey, you should lighten up. I'm sure...Gabe isn't...all that awful. A pain in the @ss yeah." He gave up for a moment, watching Tristan and Jean.

Jean looked down at the ground, "It...was a party. A few of the Summer angels wanted to meet the big, scary High Court angels and Gabe came. He was the only one that learned our names and called us by them." Gabranth reached out and touched Jean's back, "We had some good times at that party. Too bad Keenan kept you for himself." Jean's expression turned from happy to regretful and finally to disgusted as she stared at the ground. "I wouldn't say that... Keenan kept me because he knew it was for my best interest." she glued herself closer to Tristan's side, averting her gaze from Gabe's.

 

schuyler glanced back at kiel and leaned up against penny's side.
"my brother's awful. How can you go missing for four days; show up bloody, cut up, and bruised; and without your memory of the entire time you were gone and act likes it's no big deal? It's insane!"
Her gaze moved to giselle, who was clearly uncomfortable.
"what did he say to you? when you and genesis found him?"

giselle wished she could disappear. It was obvious schuyler was upset over her brother and she couldn't blame her. Giselle was still super confused as to how he would know that she was at the school and have a present prearranged.
"he uhh...he said happy birthday...and gave me a present."

tristan could tell this was a soar topic for jean. He wasn't going to pry, at least not in font of a stranger. The only way to fix the situation would be to end the conversation. He looked over his shoulder at the others as they gathered together.
"well it was nice to meet you gabe, but uh...it looks like we should probably be getting back to everyone else. Catch ya' later?"
He waved his fingers at the older angel and turned himself and jean back to the group.

 

Genesis curled his arm around her back, "It was very interesting how he would know she would be at the school. Giselle isn't an angel, the only question is how would Kingsley know she would eventually come to the school."

Kiel shrugged, half-heartedly, "Well he's back and Professor Logos is working on a potion to get his memory back. Isn't that what matters?"

Jean didn't wave back to Gabranth as they walked away, she could feel his eyes on her. "Thank you Tristan. I thought...he'd have forgotten about all that by now. Please...don't get angry."

 

schuyler shrugged at genesis's response.
"yeah. it's odd, but at least he's okay."
as much as he made her mad, he was still her brother and she loved him regardless.

tristan kept his arm tightly around jean's shoulders. he gave her a big grin and kissed the top of her hair.
"don't worry about it. i just want you to be happy."
he tilted his head down so his lips were to her ear and whispered.
"if you ever feel like talking about, let me know."

 

Genesis and Kiel seemed to relax visibly as they dropped the topic and Gabranth disappeared back into the school.

Jean nodded, happily adding a bounce into her step.

Uriel gathered the class together, "I'll conclude our practice today. Tomorrow one of you will fight against Gabriel. Head back to your rooms and wait for the dinner bell to ring."

 

Tristan and Jean seemed to have rejoined the group and Tori continued to smile at them. whatever happened with kiel's brother seemed to have upset them, but they were covering it well.
"so jean, are you going to come with us?"
tori kept her eyes focused on her, while she linked an arm with giselle.

tristan glanced down at jean when tori asked yet again about the girl's night. he sighed and gave her shoulders a squeeze.
"you should join them. we can spend time together later."
he gave her temple a quick kiss.
"i promise. plus you know where to find me."
tristan was smiling at everyone, who seemed to finally be getting along for once.
