Angelic Divinity

Ren walked calmly down the hall, still clutching the pulsating pocket watch in his palm. His bracelet of bones jingled and conformed to create a sword, promptly with a skull on it's hilt. Heading outside, Ren took off into the sky, heading for the edge of the forest closest to the cliff facing the sea.

Kiel shook his head, "You really think it's that simple? The only other way to try harder would be to whip his sassy red coated butt in a fight during class." He mulled over the first option Tristan gave, "If she doesn't like him, well damn, she sure fooled me."

Gabriel huffed and returned to instructing Penny.

Genesis stood as soon as he saw Kiel return with Tristan and Jean.

 

kaila stalked after ren slowly. She figured she'd let him take care of his business first and then talk to him after. she needed to get him alone to to talk to him. kaila needed him to remember, or defying kryios would have been for nothing.

tristan shrugged as everyone came into view.
"yeah, I don't know. Women are hard to read. Never being able to make up their minds and all that."
he gave her a half-hearted smile.

schuyler waited for gabriel to finish instructing penny. She had been holding back and really wanted to let out all her anger and frustration. She wouldn't hurt him, but she wanted to intimidate him. Maybe then he wouldn't act so rash.

 

Landing softly at the edge of the cliff, Ren stared at the rolling waves of the sea. Shifting his sword to his left hand, he lifted his right to the sky and up with his hand a ball of water emerged from the ocean. Letting the water fall away, a large fish with razor teeth and sharp scales hung suspended in the air. Snapping his fingers, Ren called down a bolt of lightning, striking the fish....and rolling off it's scales, dispursing the energy in the air around it. It seemed to laugh at him, making odd 'raw raw raw' noises.

Jean hung her head, "I'm sorry..." Kiel waved to them before Jean spoke and left to head off Genesis.

Gabriel stood back and Penny twirled the staff around in his hand. "Great...this should be lots of fun."

 

kaila stood a slight ways behind ren and took in the sight of the sea. It was something extravagent, even if aomething bad was happening. She stood behind a tree waiting patiently for him to finish off the fish.

tristan glanced down at jean, keeping his arm wrapped tightly around her.
"you have nothing to apologize for. It's my fault. As soon as you can think of something for me to make it up to you, let ne know. I want to prove myself to you. You shouldn't have to do anything."

schuyler smirked and watched penny.
"it should be lots of fun. Are you ready?"
She kept her eyes on him as he prepared.

 

Ren touched a hand to his temple and frowned, returning his sword to his dominant hand, "You're boring." he commented dryly and launched himself off the cliff towards the fish. His sword created sparks as he drew it along the fish's scales. It rounded on him, teeth gnashing together and Ren shoved his sword into it's mouth and through the roof of his mouth, through it's head. Still the fish closed it's mouth, serrated teeth piercing into his arm. Wings flailing, Ren jabbed the toe of his boot into it's eye.

Jean looked up at him, bewildered as to what she should ask him to do.

Penny tensed, "Yeah...let's do this."

 

kaila hurried to the edge of the cliff, watching ren lunge himself off of it. She watched him float above the water and called out to him.
"hey! Are you okay down there? I wouldn't want you to get hurt!"
She jumped off of the cliff and fell until they were at eye level.

tristan gave jean one more kiss before heading over to the class. He looked back at her smiling.
"my one and only."
Tristan looked over to allen and carried the sword with him.

giselle poorly shot an arrow and it headed in the directiom of genesis.
"sorry!"

 

Ren turned in her direction, his eyes bright for once, but not clear of the cloud of Kyrios' influence. "Miss Camponella, what are you doing out here? It's dangerous. The sea..." he wedged open the fish's mouth, "Is not..." tearing his sword forwards through the top of the fish's head, he watched it fall back into the sea, "Calm."

Genesis deflected the arrow, his blue eyes warm, "I'm alright. Giselle..." he felt the need to say something, anything to the girl, but nothing came out of his mouth.

 

kaila smiled down at him and jumped off the cliff to join him. She spread her wings when she had reached the same level as ren.
"i'm a big girl. I can handle myself. I did save you from that spider last night."
Him not remembering was killing her, but she hoped she could trigger those memories. You can't permanently take someone's memories, but you can use a good deal of magic to repress them. Kryios appeared to have done a good job, but she loved ren too much to give up.

giselle dropped her gaze and fumbled for a new arrow while tori collected the other one.

tori picked up the arrow and held it out to genesis, smiling.
"here. Why don't you work with her now. I'll take kiel since he's back."
She shoved the arrow into his hand and nudged him in giselle's direction.

tristan looked down at jean, before joining the class.
"so what are you gunna do now?

schuyler smirked at penny and waited for him to make a move.
"feel free to hit me any time."
She wanted him to swing so that she could lunge in while his arms were up.

 

Ren returned his sword to it's natural position as a bracelet. "I don't mean to sound overly egotistical, miss...but if I were attacked, I think I could manage without your help." Frowning, he returned to solid ground, taking Kaila's hand and taking her with him. "I have an odd feeling...about you. I can't tell whether it means your trouble or something good for me. I'm confused..."

Genesis nodded, taking the arrow back to Giselle. He stood before her, "It seems you're better at aiming at me. I want you to try harder than you have with Tori, Giselle." Taking a few steps backwards, he held his sword out away from him, "We'll start simple. Can you hit my sword with an arrow?"

Jean shuffled her feet, "I don't know... Keenan has rejected me as his Summer Girl so...I don't have a place to go home to...besides the Summer den...and there's always Dark Court angels there...they frighten me."

Penny lurched at her, feinting left and reaching under the staff, grabbing a handful of her clothes and pulled her in close. "I'd rather not hit on you unless it's in a romantic gesture."

 

kaila held tightly onto ren's hand. She tried to smile at him, but there was hurt in her eyes.
"ren, you don't remember. Kryios took your memories, because I hurt you. I love you. I'm sorry you don't remember our life together."
She let go of his hand and wrapped her hands around his face, pulling ren in for a kiss. It was the only thing she could think of to help jog his sleeping memories. If it didn't work than she was out of options. All those fairy tales echoed in her head. True love's kiss can vreak any curse.
please let it be true.

tristan tucked jean's hair behind her ear.
"i'm sorry. It's because of me isn't it? Because you told him off."

giselle glared at the sword. She was trying. She was just no good at it.
"probably not."
She mumbled and drew back the string of the bow clumsily. Working with genesis wasn't on her top things to do list for the day. Giselle was only embarassing herself. She wasn't skilled like everyone else. She was just wasting thier time. The arrow went flying to the right of genesis's sword, hitting the grass.

schuyler rolled her eyes and stuck the tip of the blade lightly into penny's neck. She didn't understand what changed in him earlier, but now it bothered her.
"you're becoming less attractive every time you open your mouth."
She pulled the dagger away and yanked her shirt out of his hand, backing away.
"why aren't you the same person I met yesterday?"

 

Ren set his hands on her shoulders, trying to stop her, "Miss Camponella, please. What are you doing?"

Jean shook her head, "No, I'm quite glad he left me... I'd rather belong only to you."

 

kaila dropped her hands from his face. Her chest was constricting and she was resisting the desire to sob again.
"i was...trying to make you remember. It was the only option I could think of. I'm sorry for hurting you. I just didn't want you to go through all that pain, but if this is what hurting you makes you become; then maybe...maybe you're better off. I can live with being the only one that feels sorrow."
She turned away and flew back up the cliff. Kaila collapsed between a few trees and began crying again. She wanted to be alone, so with what little energy she had left; she apparated into her now destroyed meadow, summoned a blanket from her room, and put up a barrier around the meadow. She was sure enan or even kadaj could still walk right through, but she prayed that they didn't.
"i'm a failure. I've failed everyone. No one is safe, only hurt, because of me. I'm sorry Father. I tried my best. I don't know what to do anymore. Please forgive me. please..."
Kaila just wanted the pain to go away. To be like ren and have a fresh start, even though a fresh start wouldn't last for long. She hiccupped and closed her eyes, burying her face into the blanket.

tristan kissed jean's temple before turning to face the class.
"i feel the same way."
He walked off to join everyone in practice before it was too late.

 

Ren watched her tear herself away and flee from him. He couldn't understand why she was so sad. His head hurt. A pounding settled behind his eyes. "Why...why does her emotions affect me so? " Following after her, Ren stopped at the edge of the meadow by sheer chance and watched her cry, his eyes wide as the sky opened up and poured down on them. Assuming their Father shared the woman's pain, Ren felt devastation settle in his chest and staggered to her side. Grabbing her arm and hauling her to her feet, rain dripped from his hair into his eyes, "Why? Why do I feel this way? Why do I feel like this when I look at you?"

Genesis dropped his sword and walked behind her, straightening her arm on the bow and pulling her other arm back with the string in her hand. "Don't let it intimidate you. Take a moment when you draw an arrow back and steady yourself. No one expects anything great out of you. The process of learning combat is a slower process and takes time and determination."

Penny rubbed his neck and sighed, "And here I thought you wouldn't notice... I guess I am stupider than I thought. I'm not...myself when I'm jealous. Guys are hanging off you, even if it was a joke. I don't like the idea that I can make you mad enough that someone else could swoop in and steal you from me. I know...I'm a stupid, selfish jerk and I should just go away..."

 

kaila's chocolate eyes were wide as ren grabbed her arm. She dropped the blanket and could feel her clothes begin to stick to her from the rain.
"kryios took your memory away, because I hurt you. You...you love me. You told me you want to marry me someday. But something terrible happened, so I thought i'd try and spare your feelings by saying we shouldn't be together. I love you so much and you believed me so easily."
She dropped her gaze, ashamed. The rain ran down into her eyes, blending with the tears.

schuyler smiled at penny and shifted the knives so that they were both in one hand. She grabbed his hand with her free one.
"you're right. You are stupid, but that seems to be a guy thing. I can't blame you for that. I'm sorry. I'm not really mad at you, not completely. It's just been a really stressful morning. And I didn't get to eat breakfast."
She took a step closer to him.
"if you're willing to start over, then so am I."

tori was about to take a swing at kiel when she noticed genesis helping giselle. She smirked and nodded her head in their direction.
"i guess i'm better at it then you are. Giselle seems rather...fragile...yeah. I think that would be the best word to describe her. You have to be delicate, not forceful. I know you had good intentions earlier, but you went about it the wrong way. Genesis needs someone to believe in him and giselle needs someone to protect her. She seems like the kind of person that's prone to having bad things happen."

giselle had a strange warming sensation spread through her body as genesis wrapped his arms around her to help. Her face turned z slight pink and she hoped her couldn't see her blushing. She nodded and tried to do as he said.

 

Ren frowned and gripped his head, "It sounds....so familiar... Why would he do that? My Seraphim...Kyrios, a man that I've trusted since I was young...has been playing me for a fool? I...I love you?" A memory wiggled loose from the haze and flashed Kaila lying in his bed before his eyes. "You were in my bed? But I...shouldn't I remember something like that?" Irritation colored his voice and panic settled in his chest. If Kyrios had stolen his memories, what else had he taken from him?

Kiel shrugged, "I suppose you're right. But I'm not very good at reading girls anyways..." Kiel lifted Tori's hand to his lips and brushed his lips across her knuckles gently, "I should have listened to you." Accompanying his words with a smile, Kiel leaned down to her, he wanted to kiss her but was uncertain how he would be recieved.

Genesis nervously tucked his wing tightly against his back and knocked an arrow in her bow, "Aim for the tree beside Zadkiel. He's quick on his feet..he'll dodge if you miss it. Having something thick to aim at is better than starting with moving targets." He had to suppress the urge to back away. Closing his eyes, he took comfort in her quiet position. Instead of being like Schuyler and being noisy and talkative, she was quiet. He enjoyed her presence.

 

kaila bit her lip. She could see the confusion and frustration ren was experiencing and it only hurt her more.
"you've never trusted kryios. You only joined the dark court to protect your late wife. He's completely altered your memories. No one like kryios, including yourself. He only took your memory about an hour ago. you still loved me an hour ago. And i'm sorry. I didn't want us to break up, but I didn't want you to go through the pain of watching another human die. Kadaj intends on using me for a sacrafice and the night before...michael is ripping away my wings and powers...i'm sorry for lying to you. It hurt me too. I love you so much."
She kissed him before he could protest this time. If he remembered one memory, maybe they would all come back. He couldn't just be a hollow shell.

tori smiled at kiel. She could see what he and felt he deserved at least a little one. They were still in class so it couldb't be anything major. Tori leaned in and gave him a light peck on the lips.
"that's all you get...for now. Let me see your stance again."
Her blue eyes sparkled in the light and she held her sword out at him.

giselle turned her head around to look at genesis. There was concern in her eyes.
"but what if I hit him?"
As much as she wanted to focus, all she could think about was him saying he had a girlfriend. It bothered her for some reason. The bow shook in her hands and she was glad genesis was there to steady it.

 

Ren closed his eyes to her kiss, a few other images and memories of kisses just like this filled his head. But the mention of a late wife confused him. The most he got was a letter Y and black hair framing a pale face with sapphire eyes smiling at him with love. Why was there so much Kyrios had taken?

Kiel's smile spread across his face and he lifted his sword, twirling it loosely in his hand.

Genesis gave a tight lipped smile, "I promise he'll move. Plus...he could probably do with an arrow in his rear for a turn of events. Zadkiel will be fine. It's your unwillingness to release that I'm worried about."

 

kaila pulled away, frowning. She shook her head in dismay and collapsed on the wet grass.
"it didn't help did it? I thought maybe...but it didn't work. I don't know what else could make you unforg-"
Her mind ran back to the angel from overseas. He brought sanya a forget-me-not. She didn't know what sanya needed it for, but it was the final shot.
"we need to go to the infirmary."

giselle's face seemed to drain of emotion as she let go of the string. She didn't look as the arrow soared and dtuck into the tree.
"i'm more proan to accidents than to fixing them."
She drew another arrow and shot it into the tree next to the other one.

 

Ren frowned, "What for? I...I remember kissing you other times...which doesn't make any sense unless Kyrios really stole my memories...which would be cruel of him."

Genesis smiled for once as he watched her lodge arrow after arrow into the tree, and Kiel's shocked expression made it more enjoyable. "But you're doing wonderful. You needn't be afraid of making a mistake. With a bit of magic, things can be fixed."

 

kaila stood again, looking hurt.
"he did take your memories, because that's the time of person he is. I...you don't think i'm trying to plant fake memories in your subconscious...do you?"
She sighed and more tears began to trickled out. Kaila turned away from ren, in the direction of the school.

tori chuckled at kiel's expression.
"apparently she was better than she let on."

giselle shot another arrow and rolled her eyes.
"what's so great about magic?"
She turned back to look st him in frustration.
