Penny glanced at Kaila and back to Schuyler, fear spiking in his eyes, "Wh-what's going on? Um..."

Sanya tugged at her hair, "Oh...um...I...I really shouldn't..tell you... It's...a teacher thing..." She nervously shifted.

Enan sighed, rubbing his face, "I'm always stuck with the ones that don't get it. The Summer Court already has a human. With two humans bonding to the Summer Court, it makes my Court weaker. I won't have any of that. You," he pointed a pale finger at him, "Will relinquish your bonds with this Summer Girl and willingly choose the Winter Court. Or...I'll freeze the girl until she dies."

 

kaila's eyes were cold. she could see the pain on schuyler's face and a small smile managed to creep out. it made her look sinister. she tightened her grip on penny, producing a burning sensation.
"schuyler, are you going to protect him or let his insides boil? it's all up to you m'dear."

"you wouldn't!
schuyler's eyes were filled with anger and her hair was starting to stick out from the electricity.

"do you really want to test that theory? i have nothing to lose from it."
kaila put up a wall as a streak of lighting came towards her and penny.
"too slow. but maybe next time you won't need so much encouragement."
she released penny and shoved him in the direction of schuyler as the wall disappeared.
"now sit. magic isn't that hard if you're willing to try. there are two forms of defensive magic: healing and nonhealing. nonhealing being like the wall i put up to protect myself from getting injured."
kaila turned to the board and started to draw a flow chart out of chalk.

tori looked at her teacher earnestly.
"i understand that professor, but my needing to know...it's kind of a seraphim thing. you can understand that, right?"
her blue eyes were pleading to the half-mechanical angel.

tristan's eyes were filled with remorse as he stared at jean. he didn't want to give her up, but he also didn't want to see her freeze to death. he turned to look at enan hopefully.
"i...i can't do both? i can't join your court and stay with jean? because i mean technically i met her before penny met schuyler so...yeah..."

 

Penny squirmed under Kaila's palm, "Ow...ow...ow...ow...ow..." Being shoved towards Schuyler, he rubbed his shoulder.

Sanya bit her lip, "I do... Kaila...gave the spell to resurrect Demise into his Imprisoned form and not his fully true form. But in order to do any of it...during the full moon, Kadaj will need a sacrifice to get the ball rolling. He's...he's made Kaila that sacrifice."

Enan snarled, his pale blue eyes flashing, "No! Staying with that girl means you're still loyal to the Summer Court." His head snapped to the side as if he'd been slapped by some invisible force and his eyes unfocused. "B-but...Brother Yves...I..." A tapping came from the window and Usagi hovered outside, holding three different flowers of the same light blue color.

 

schuyler grabbed penny's hand and dragged him back over to the seats. her voice was a whisper and her eyes filled with a new layer of sadness.
"i'm sorry. are you okay?"
the day was truly getting worse and all she wanted was for it to be over with.

kaila ignored their quiet conversation and continued making some notes on the board. they were all in a lot more danger than they knew, and she wanted to prepare them the best she could without letting on to what has happened.

tori's heart sunk and she now felt bad for her teacher.
"there's gotta be something we can do. right?"

kingsley bolted upright. he no longer cared about his own problems anymore. his teacher was far worse off than he would ever be. even if everyone suspected him of who-knows-what.
"you're joking right? she can't do that! why didn't anyone stop her?"

tristan jumped from the sound of the tapping on the window. he wrapped a bed sheet around his waist and got out of bed. he walked over to the window, opening it up, and watched the little rabbit come in.
this is a nightmare.

 

Penny sat and blinked, "Yeah...kinda harsh though..."

Sanya swallowed, "Oh...um...I tried to reason with her...but she wouldn't listen... She says she's fine with it."

Usagi quickly floated over to Jean, giving her a flower and then to Enan, giving him a flower and held out the last for Tristan to take. Enan's eyes widened and he fell to the ground. Jean smiled up to Tristan.

 

schuyler squeezed penny's hand and attempted a smile.
"yeah."
She stared down at the textbook and a tear dropped onto the pages.

"how can she be fine with it? We're talking about the professor giving up her life. To ressurect a monster!"

"kinglsey. You have to stop. If that's what she's chosen then that's her choice."
tori waved her hand for him to silence. She didn't like it any more than he did, but getting worked up wouldn't help anyone.

tristan reached for the flower hesitantly. Judging by jean and enan's expressions, things were in favor of them staying together.

 

Penny frowned and reached over to brush her hair behind her ear, "Hey...what's wrong? I'm alright."

Kiel shoved Penny's chair, "Schuyler....don't mind what Kaila does. We've got a lot to do."

Sanya flinched.

The flower shooped into Tristan's chest, "We've met before...I'm Yves. I've talked to Micheal and I've made a few arrangements. Enan is not your Seraph, Tristan. Tori is. The High Court does not say who you can and cannot be with and thus your relationship with Jeanie is alright...as long as you tell Tori you'll join the High Court. It's not that much of me to ask."

 

schuyler didn't respond to either of them. She sat there silently taking notes on healing magic and drawing diagrams.

tori sat there thinking silently. If what professor logos daid was true, they were in a lot of trouble.
yves...are you there?
It seemed that reading her teacher's mind was no longer necessary.

tristan's smile spread wide across his face. He turned to jean and was going to give some witty remark, but once he noticed the look on enan's face.
"hey man, i'm sorry. Better luck next time right? Maybe you'll find somebody else."
He shrugged and held tightly onto the blanket.

 

"Yes, Tori? Is there something the matter?"

Enan stood and left, feeling empty inside. Jean jumped from the bed, tackling Tristan. "We can stay!"

 

have you heard about professor camponella yet? Professora logos just told me.
tori sat on the cot trying to mask her concern while speaking to yves.

tristan fell to the ground with jean on top of him.
"yeah. It's pretty great."
He brushed her hair out of her face and kissed her forehead.

 

"Yes...unfortunately I have. Let me guess, you want to stop Ms. Camponella. If you want to stop her...I'd tell Mr. Leahpar. He seems to hold strong feelings for her."

Jean nuzzled him, still grinning, "It's great. I can't believe you get to join the High Court. The Summer Court will always be my home but I've heard good things about them."

 

all right...no one should have to die...
Tori frowned and noticed kingsley staring at her.
"yes?"

"what are you doing?"
He studied the look on tori's face with confusion.

"i'm not doing anything."
She looked away from him.

tristan ran his fingers down jean's back smiling.
"i don't care what court they want me in, as long as I can stay with you."

kaila turned to face the class.
"for tomorrow I want a two page paper on the different forms of defensive magic. Class dismissed."
She waved her hand and watched as all the books slammed shut.

 

Sanya cleared her throat, "If I might interrupt... Mr. Kingsley...would you hold Grey-sama?" she held the Book of the Grey out to Kingsley.

Jean jumped up and started pulling on her shorts, "I want to stay right here...but I have to go home. Keenan and the other girls will start to get worried." She tilted his chin up and kissed him soundly before pulling her tank top over her head.

Genesis stood, packing his books away and Kiel folded the extra notes he'd taken for Tori and stuck them in his pocket. "See ya tomorrow, Professor Camponella. Tori'll be here tomorrow, promise."

 

"ugh sure. I guess..."
He took the book from her and set it on his lap. Kingsley decided to keep it closed. After everything that happened he didn't want to listen to the book drone on.

tristan sighed. He didn't want to see jean go, but he had his own things to do as well.
"it's all right. I have stuff to do too."
He wrapped the blanket around his waist and waljed over to the other side of the bed to gather his clothes.

giselle stood quickly, still shocked by what happened in class.
"does stuff likd that usually happen? 'cause i'm pretty sure it's illegal to abuse students."
She didn't know what the rules were in tye angelic world, but they couldn't be that different.

kaila nodded at kiel wordlessly. She turned to the chalkboard and erased everything she had wrote on it. Her shawl slipped off her shoulder as she reached up and she bent down to pick it up.

 

Sanya frowned and pulled out a highly up to date iphone and flicked through it. "Efficient isn't he..." she mumbled. "Tori...are you feeling any better? I'd like to work on your healing abilities. Nothing more than a catscan and a few magical and mental tests. You won't have to lift a finger."

Despite what Kingsley might have wanted, the Book of the Grey wasn't one to sit idlely, "If you're willing to go to Europe, you could have a Forget flower by the morn." It flipped open to a 3D picture of the pink flower.

Jean slipped on her sandals and skipped to the door, waving to him and blowing kisses at Tristan.

Kiel slapped Penny on the shoulder, trying to maintain an aloof grin. "Not usually, but the usual is pretty boring. Plus, Penny's alright, right?" He watched the young human nod.

A hand picked up the shawl and held it out to Kaila. Attatched to the hand and muscular arm was a man wearing a black shirt and black baggy pants. His black hair was slicked back away from his face and he appeared to be around his fourties. "Ma'am." The second he spoke, Kiel and Genesis looked up and curiously watched him. They hadn't seen him enter the room.

 

Tori nodded confused at her teacher.
"yeah...i guess...but what healing ability."
She hadn't realized that she healed genesis the night before at dinner.

kingsley frowned down at the book.
"i don't think they are going to let me take an overnight flight to europe to pick a flower.

kaila looked at the man, curious about who had entered her classroom.
"thank you. And you are?"
She took the shawl and stood up. She laid it out over her shoulders.

schuyler noticed the guys stop and did the same. She tapped genesis on the shoulder and pointed to the man.
"who's that guy?"

 

Sanya tapped her mechanical fingers against the bedside table. "All Seraphim have healing abilities. Do you think Yves got around by waiting and sitting in hospitals for long periods of time? No. He healed himself right up and marched back into the battle field or meeting room. And you're going to do the same."

The book huffed, flipping pages until it came to a section written in blood red lettering. "Hmm..the only section I haven't looked in is the Dark magic section. But I doubt any of the angels here would help you with one of them. You'd have to talk to a Dark Court angel. Perhaps Mr. Leahpar would help you."

The man spread his single white wing and bowed to Kaila, "Angeal Hewley. I'm looking for Sanya Logos. We served together in the Battle of Nagasaki in Japan."

Genesis shook his head, "I don't know..."

 

tori nodded along as sanya talked about her healing abilities. She had no idea, but it made senve. He healed her and tristan no problem.
"oh. All right. Makes sense."

"i don't think he wants me using the dark magic or he wouldn't have mentioned the flower.
He frowned at the book. Kingsley thought about asking his teacher but could already see the answer.

kaila nodded to the man.
"kaila camponella. I'm free this hour, I could take you to her if you'd like."
She held her hand out to him. Another newcomer couldn't mean anything good.

 

Sanya smiled breifly before taking her hands and setting them on her ankle, "If it still pains you...we'll fix it right now. Focus...deep breath...and let it happen."

The Book of the Grey firmly slapped the Dark Magic pages down and flipped back to the picture of the flower. "Good choice... I wouldn't want to be around when those spells are out running around like maniacs. Devilish things...always sucking the caster into deals with Crossroads demons..."

Angeal smiled kindly and took her hand gently in his, "That would be lovely. It's been a long time since I've been to this school...I've forgotten it's layout. Oh...don't tell Sanya that, she'd scold me good." He laughed a hearty sound that made Genesis frown, "He's so...happy...even though he only has one wing. I don't get it. How can anyone be happy with one wing?!" He spoke louder than intended, causing Angeal to stop laughing and look his way with a perplexed expression dominating his face.

 

tori did as her teacher said. She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath. After a minute she opened them again and looked at sanya frustrated.
"nothing happened..."

kingsley let out a nervous laugh and pulled at his collar. His golden eyes stared down at the picture of the flower.
"yeah. Wouldn't want any of that."
He looked at tori who appeared to be frustrated in the cot next to him.

schuyler nudged genesis in the side with her elbow.
"maybe you can ask professor logos who made her wing. Then you won't have to have just one."
She looked at him reassuringly, but then ducked out of the classroom when she noticed her teacher coming near.

kaila managed a smile. Angeal was definitely handsome, but something striked him as odd. Nobody paid sanya visits other than kryios. It was a poor choice of timing as well.
"go on students. Out of my room. You wouldn't want to be late for your next class."
She ushered them forward and out of the classroom.
"so what brings you here now? This isn't exactly the best week for making unanounced visits."
