Kiel glanced at the door, where a boy stood, leaning against the doorframe. He looked exactly like Gabriel...but younger and with blonde hair. "Who're you?" The boy's eyebrows rose up and a slow grin spread across his face, "Sorry for disturbing...I didn't realize this was detention. I smelt my little brother and decided to pay him an overdue visit. I'm Gabranth Learbag but everyone just calls me Gabe." Kiel jumped up, "Brother? What the hell are you talking about? You can't just waltz in here like you own the place and start calling people your brother!" Gabe grinned, "Yeah? And why's that? You think you're too good to be my brother? Pops not good enough for ya? Listen well, buddy, cause it's gonna hit you hard...family sticks together and whether you like it or not...I'm enrolling here. Mum's orders." Kiel frowned, dismay crossing his face, "Mum? What? I don't have a mother. She abandoned me! I don't know who you are...but you're no brother of mine...and I'm not your buddy!" Gabranth shook his head slowly, "Poor, confused, little Zadkiel..."

Genesis shrugged and followed her. His headache subsided to the back burners and he let the easy motion of following someone take over.

Kallai guided Schuyler towards the door, her robes rustling and moving as she did. "We'll be observing something I have found to be very interesting lately. Since those humans arrived...we've received messages from Micheal. He tells us Genesis is now the angelic protector of Giselle and Allen. He's such a...oh what's the word..."

Gabriel chuckled in his casual manner, "It certainly wasn't...but it didn't feel much like it...Ren's been keeping spells on me...it felt more like someone hit me in the back of my head with a baseball bat..."

Frowning, Jean turned away from the window, "I could've sworn I saw someone standing there...it must've been my imagination..." Worry lines creased her forehead and she glanced back, still the grounds were empty, Archangel Micheal? she thought to herself, questioning her sanity.

 

kaila set the tea down on her desk, rubbing her head.
"if you would please refrain from shouting mr. uru, I would greatly appreciate it. zadkiel, if this young man is who he says he is, then the odds are that it is true. Gabriel has lots of secrets, but some are a little more obvious than others. Come."
She picked up the tea and motioned for them both to follow her. Kaila wasn't in the mood, but knew that taking them to gabriel was going to be the only way to solve the matter. She walked over to the door and held it open for them.

"overacheiver? He's watching two by himself and the rest of us are paired up to watch one each. But I think he might like giselle actually. I feel bad about what happened, but I don't know how to talk to her anymore. It's been a really long time..."
Schuyler realized that none of what she had to say was related to the topic kallai was discussing, and felt stupid for opening her mouth. A look of dismay spread across her face.

tori's fingers prodded the back of her head and she made a disgusted face at how much that would hurt.
"ouch."
she took some more pain killers the nurse handed her and watched as she did some stuff to her leg. It was already feeling better, but still soar.

tristan noticed the expression on jean's face and sat up in the bed. He patted the place on the bed where she had been lying, signaling her to come back.
"who did you see? You look bothered by it."

once outside, giselle walked around silently for a little bit. She didn't really want to speak, just enjoy the nature. It was enough to get her through the day, seeing all the wonders outside of the building. Giselle was about ready to head back inside when she noticed a gray-haired boy come stumbling out of the forest. He made it a few yards and then collapsed.
"genesis look!"
She pointed at him, and before genesis could respond she was already running over to help.

the boy collapsed on the grass, his sticky blood-stained sword beside him. he had no memory of the last three days and all he knew was that he needed to make it to school. There was a small rectangular present inside his jacket wrapped in green paper and blue ribbon. When the girl knelt down in front of him, going about asking if he was all right, he pulled the present out and held it up to her. He was weak and out of breath. His face was dripping in sweat and he was covered in blood. Getting the words out of his mouth used up what little energy he had left.
"happy...birthday...giselle."
His arm dropped and his vision went black.

Kiel and Gabranth followed Kaila out of her room. Gabranth held a lopsided grin on his face and Kiel scowled over his shoulder at the obviously older boy. Why did he claim they were brothers? Was he really? Could Gabriel be his father...a father that had abandoned him when he was a child?

Kallai laughed a light sound and it echoed in the corridor as they walked down. "I suppose to others it seems like that. Genesis has become an overburdened child. Protecting two humans is difficult. You can't be in two places at the same time, now can you. Even if Giselle were to like him...his job would become harder...as he'd be more inclined to give her more protection and leave Allen alone. It would give an edge to the enemy." She frowned slightly, "It's a little odd...two humans...Penny and Tristan have seemed to chosen Summer Court members...be it a Summer girl...or a Summer angel. Giselle and Allen have yet to choose. We are at an advantage...but if those two were to choose the Dark Court, Kyrios and I...would have an even harder relationship. Tori has Kiel in her Court...even if he shouldn't matter...even a Nephilim counts as special. Though...I'm surprised she hasn't expressed any worry over the upcoming full moon and Cheshvan...I'd be worried he would be possessed by a fallen angel and turn on her..." Kallai had no idea how true her words might prove to be in the future.

Gabriel chuckled, "Yes...ouch. But as long as no loud-mouthed boys come bursting in here and disturbing me..I'll be better by dinner time." He sounded confident in his healing abilities as he crossed his ankles and folded his arms behind his head.

Jean sat beside him scratching at her hair, "I could've sworn it was the Archangel Micheal...but why would he come to Earth? He practically loathes the place... He likes it up in Heaven...or so I've heard...I've only seen him a few times."

Genesis followed her, pushing himself in front of her and taking the present in his hands, turning it over and over, "Giselle...you should be more careful. What if he was someone sent by Kadaj. He could've killed you in the time I was running over here."

 

"i don't think you're going to be so lucky professor."
Tori pointed toward the door as kaila came storming in followed by kiel and a boy she hadn't met before.

kaila blasted the infirmary doors open and she marched over to gabriel.
"gabriel! Deal with your problems. I'm not doing it for you."
She motioned to the two boys behind her and signaled for them to come over.
"if anyone needs me, which they better not, i'll be at breakfast."
Kaila walked out of the infirmary. Her head was pounding. She stared down into the cup. All that remained was a soggy tea bag. She had to stop walking to pull up her white shawl, which was falling down.

schuyler's brain was working overtime to keep up with everything her seraph was saying. She wasn't sure which parts intrigued her more, but she had questions on all of it. Schuyler decided to go with the part about the dark court, although the thing with kiel really bothered her.
"what exactly would happen if they both chose the dark court? I mean if it's a big deal then why don't we have genesis watch only one? There's plenty of us. The four of them could be easily protected,if they each have at least one person gaurding them, rather than half a person."

tristan wrapped an arm around jean's waist, pulling her closer.
"that would be strange. Maybe he needs to see someone. You shouldn't let it bother you though."
He gave her a kiss on the cheek.

giselle's eyes were glued on the present in genesis's hands. She wanted to take it from him, but if he were right, then it might be something meant to kill her with. Her gaze moved to the boy on the ground, he was older and there was something familiar about him. His eyes, the color of his hair, the sound of his voice when he said her name, and even the smile he wore right before he passed out reminded her of someone from her past. It didn't make sense, mostly because schuyler had said he was missing, but here he was. The most disturbing was the fact that he somehow knew she was going to be there and what day it was.
he remembered...he remembered I like green. After all this time...
She looked up at genesis in a daze.
"i'm sorry. You're right, but I don't think he's going to hurt me. We need to get him inside. Schuyler will want to know that her brother is okay."
She stood quickly, holding her hand out for genesis.

 

Gabriel frowned at Tori and his frown increased as the boys and Kaila burst into the infermery. "Aren't I supposed to be resting...and Gabranth...aren't you supposed to be in private school?" Gabranth cast him another crooked smile, "Hey, pops! Man am I happy to see you again. After sending me to that stuffy private school...jeez...all the girls there are so....long skirted...it's annoying. No flash of leg...only ankle... I could've gone insane, y'know." He glanced at Tori and his smile widened. Kiel stepped in front of her and scowled at him, "Back off." "Zadkiel...Gabranth means no harm. Gabe...Tori here is the new High Court Seraph. Be nice and pay your respects. Amittai passed only yesterday." Gabranth ran a hand through his blonde hair and adjusted a sword at his hip, "Sorry about that ma'am. Amittai was a stuffy old man...but he was cool. Taught pops all he knows," Gabriel huffed, "So did not..." "Well welcome to the extended family of being a Seraphim. The High Court sure is lucky to have a beautiful Seraph this time." Kiel growled and Gabe grinned, patting his shoulder lightly before having his hand smacked off, "Take it easy, buddy. It's not like I'm out to start dating a Seraphim. You know what would happen if I tried to get under her skirt...I'd probably be warped into a pretzel for a month...man...that would hurt."

Kallai stopped in front of a large window and stared out it, "Perhaps that's true...but Micheal has decided...and his decisons are final. Genesis...once he recovers from the shock of Kyrios' hatred and the attack on him...will be a fine warrior, capable of protecting both those humans. The reason why Kyrios shouldn't be allowed to have two humans in his court...should be simple... They won't last to see the final fight if they stay under his wings. Kyrios would expose them to the full might of the Dark Court and they would be drained of life and light by his Dark angels. I fear the worst for Giselle....she seems closer to Genesis than Allen."

Looking up at him, surprised, Jean's smile lit up her face, "Micheal...here to see someone? Please...that stuck up prick only ever leaves his home when the other Archangels beg for him to come. He'd send a message with Usagi...I think...it's just my imagination." She stretched her spine and tilted her head up to kiss his chin.

Genesis took her hand and still frowned down at the boy, "We shouldn't leave him here...but no one's going to be out and about for a while...they're all heading to breakfast." His headache slowly beat as he tried to think through the possible motions of dealing with the strange boy.

 

tori reached out for kiel's hand, tugging him.
"i'd appreciate it if you didn't speak like I wasn't present. Would someone care to explain what's going on?
She stared at the men questioningly.

schuyler's eyes were wide. She didn't know how to speak to her old friend anymore but she didn't want to see her die.
"is...is there something we can do? They can't just die because genesis was chosen to protect them."
There was no way she would standby and watch that happen.

"all right. If you say so."
Tristan slid down and wrapped his arms tightly around jean's body. He rested his head on top of hers, nuzzling into her hair.

giselle bent down to lift the man up.
"we have to get him inside. He's covered in blood. He's probably bleeding. There's an infirmary right? Pleade help me."
She grabbed one of his arms and lifted it over her shoulder.

 

Gabriel sighed and waved his hand at Gabranth, "Tori...Kiel...this is my first born son, Gabranth. He's an angel...but I sent him to a private human school because he kept trying to cause trouble with the girls here." Kiel stood beside Tori, still scowling at Gabranth, "He said I was his little brother. But that's insane. I've never seen this guy before in my life." Gabranth hooked his thumbs in the belt loops on his jeans, "C'mon now...I thought we'd gotten past this. We're brothers. You just don't remember. A dose of mum's good old tomato soup would knock some memories loose in that noggin' of yours."

Kallai tapped the window and glanced down at the sight of Genesis and Giselle carrying a boy towards the school, "Is he not your brother?" She'd wanted a way to not answer her question...in truth...she couldn't think of a way to save Giselle yet.

Jean bit her lip for a moment before sitting up slightly and kissing him firmly on the lips. She didn't like no for an answer.

Genesis nodded curtly before promptly picking the boy's other arm up and hefting most of his weight over his shoulder.

 

tori was glaring at kiel. He had no reason to be so defensive of her. His brother seemed harmless, only annoying. She gave another tug on his arm, pulling him onto the cot.
"professor is it true? Is kiel your son?"
They didn't really look much alike, but this kid was certain they were brothers. It had to mean something.

schuyler pressed her hands and nose to the glass; trying to get the best view she could. She could see gensis and giselle carrying a boy and could immediately tell it was her brother. Her voice cracked and his name came out in a whisper.
"kingsley..."
Schuyler turned her attention to the seraph and had to blink back tears.
"m'lady, could I..."

tristan rolled over to his side and wrapped jean's body up in his. She wanted to kiss him and he wasn't going to stop her. His fingers got tangled in her hair as he attempted to get closer.

kaila entered the dining hall as all of the late morning risers shuffled in. everyone waited til the last minute to get breakfast. She sat down at the teachers' table and started eating a small plate of eggs benedict. Her tea had been refilled and she sat there in silence.

giselle had picked up the sword as they started walking and tried her hardest to hold onto it. It was heavy and between the sword and kingsley, it was wearing her out quickly.
can't stop. Got to make it inside.

 

Gabriel squeezed his eyes shut and signaled for Gabranth to stop talking, "Yes...Kiel is my son. Gabranth's younger brother. I've kept it a secret from you, Kiel because I couldn't take care of you...and your mother rejected you when you were born. She didn't want you once she learned I was an angel. You're only half-brothers...unfortunately. I...we...Serah and I...were separated and...she was human. Her name was--" Kiel interrupted, "I don't care what her name was! She didn't want me...!"

Kallai swept her arm out, "Of course. Family comes first."

Jean clawed at his chest, clammoring on top of him and raining kisses along his face.

Ren waved his hand and the student bolted from his sight, tears still falling down her face. Heading outside, Ren walked down the halls. He barely registered that in his preoccupied state of mind, he'd stopped walking and was hovering barely an inch above the floor.

Genesis shouldered the door open, using his wing to prop it open long enough for them to pass.

 

tori pulled at kiel's shoulders, bringing him closer to her.
"kiel, kiel calm down. It's going to be okay."
She wrapped her arms around kiel, trying to reassure him. Overreacting wasn't going to help the situation, she had already learned that one.

schuyler tried to remain dignified and walk, but ended up breaking out in a running stride. Tears were already streaming down her face, making it hard to see. If she hadn't looked up she would have ran into ren.
"oh! Sorry professor."
She stepped around him and continued running through the halls, stopping just short of genesis and giselle at the entrance.
"kinglsey!"

tristan opened his eyes as jean kissed his face. There was a smirk on his face and he couldn't take his eyes off her.
"it's a pretty great view from down here."

giselle stopped walking as schuyler came running up to them. Her face was red from carrying kingsley and she spoke in rushed sentences.
"schuyler. He came walking out of the woods and collapsed. He was conscious for a minute and the just passed out. He needs to be looked at."
She felt a stirring as he cracked open his and squirmed in her and genesis's arms.

"kingsley!"

"ughn...sparks? Is that you?"
Kingsley's voice cracked as he spoke to his younger sister. His head was pounding and he was disoriented. Everything was a blur and he wasn't what was going on. the only thing clear was that it wasn't good. He was being carried and his body ached. His sister was in tears and for some reason she was wearing different clothes than when they left.

 

Kiel swallowed hard, but the words Tori spoke were drowned out by the rushing of his blood in his ears. His father was right before him and yet...he couldn't say anything...no questions came to mind...no feeling of belonging or joy or even anger. Just...blank, numbness.

Jean shushed him and kissed him feverishly.

"Hmmph, stay still!" Genesis barked at Kingsley and looked up to see Schuyler and then Ren behind her. Ren followed Schuyler, watching from behind her as she met the boys and Giselle. "Is something the matter? Another brought to the school in shreads?"

Kallai set a gentle hand on Schuyler's head. She'd used the sunlight to travel faster and appeared behind her young Summer Angel, "This is Schuyler's brother."

 

"kiel. kiel look at me."
Tori put both of her hands on his face and turned towards her.
"do you wanna leave? We can go somewhere. You just have to get me a wheelchair. You're upset and you have every right to be. We can go somewhere."
Her blue eyes bore into his, begging for him to focus on her.

tristan let jean kiss him in silence and he ran his hands up and down the curves of her body.

kingsley lifted his head to see the teacher and seraphim.
"hey professor. It's been awhile."
His voice was steady, but he was ready to pass out.

schuyler stared at kingsley in horror. He was in front of her, maimed and bloody, and yet he was talking casually. It was like there was nothing wrong. She didn't even look up at kallai as she placed her hand on schuyler's head.

 

Kiel blinked a few times before he focused on Tori's face and her words. Nodding slowly, he reached over and pulled a wheelchair from the side of the room and held his hands out to help her into it. "We should go...before I lose my temper." Gabranth and Gabriel watched him move stiffly and frowned at each other, "Take the time you need to absorb it, Zadkiel. Uru may be your last name but you are of my descent." Kiel flinched.

Jean let up, breathing heavily. "I...I shouldn't overstep my boundaries."

Ren peered over the student's heads and gave a half smile to the boy. "Kingsley...good to see you. You know you failed my class last year... You'll have to retake it."

 

tori reached for kiel's arms and clumsily climbed into the wheelchair. She looked over to the nurse and her expression turned serious.
"we won't be gone long. My leg still really hurts."
She tried to reassure her before they left.

tristan pulled jean down close to his mostly bare body.
"what boundaries?"
His voice was a warm whisper in her ear.

kingsley sighed. The pain in his legs was starting to fade, but he was still soar all over. He tried to stand up. It was shaky at first, but he slowly got his balance.
"so what? I have to take 2nd and 3rd year history? Or am I only allowed to take 2nd year history and fall behind?"

schuyler angrily slapped her older brother in the face. The fact that he could stand there and talk casually after being missing really irked her.

"ow! What the hell was that for?"

"how can you just stand there talking like it's no big deal that you've been missing for almost four days?"

"you're kidding right? It's only been like two hours since we left home. Which is why I don't understand how you're already in a new outfit."
He could tell from the looks on everyone's faces that she wasn't kidding.
"you're not kidding...? But I don't remember. That's a long time to forget..."
He was now talking to himself mpre than anyone else. Kkngsley didn't understand how the last three days could just be wiped from his memory.

giselle let go of kingsley once he appeared to be able to see, but she still hovered closeby in case he would need the help again. Nothing that had just happened made sense.

 

The nurse nodded and Kiel rolled her out of the infermery. Anger...shock....and resentment passed over his face. "How dare he....some stupid kid comes to our school and suddenly I'm his son?! Just like that and he expects me to freaking accept it?! Just like that! How much stupider can Professor Learbag get!?"

Jean felt warmth flush through her body, "You mean..." An excited smile spread across her face and she kissed him again.

Genesis let go of Kingsley, catiously holding his shoulder to keep him steady. "Take it easy now."

Ren held out a hand for the sword Giselle was holding, "I'll take that from you." Ticking off on his hand the three days, Ren mentally ran through a list in his head, "Yes....you'll be taking both history classes... As for your memory...I believe the Book of the Grey has a recipe for a Forget-me-not potion..."

 

tori sat in the wheelchair, silently listening to kiel's venting. He had every right to be angry, but she felt he should be happy to. At least he still has parents. She lost both of hers, because of their darkness.
"i don't know. And no one is expecting you to give in right away. It takes a lot of forgiveness for something like that, but at least you now know your family. You've been blessed with a new one. That's more than some other people."
She went back to her silence, thinking about her parents.

tristan let out a breathy yeah, and reached to pull off jean's shirt. His mind now had only one thing on it.

kingsley nodded and watched giselle hand his sword over to ren.
"all right. I'll look into that. Now if you don't mind, I can't think of a single spot on my body that doesn't ache. So i'm gunna head to the infirmary. Take good care of that thing. Professor camponella put a lot of enchantments on it last year."
His hand was shaky as he pointed at the sword. He looked to his clearly broken sister and the seraphim behind her.
"lady kallai, may I borrow my sister? I promise to give her back."

schuyler turned her head slowly to look over her shoulder at kallai.
"i promise I won't be long. I know we have stuff to do."

kaila left breakfast and was back in her classroom, sitting at the desk. Due to the recent change in events, the physical classes like magic and a.c.t would be more crucial than the academics. She had to change the lesson plans yet again. She let out a frustrated groan and stared up at the ceiling.
"ammittai I hope you're happy! This has ruined everything."
She knew yelling at heaven wouldn't solve anything, but if felt better to let out her anger on him.

 

Kiel stopped and knelt in front of her, placing his hands on her knees, "I know you miss your folks...and I shouldn't be complaining... But who knows what my mother was like...and now...whoever Gabriel's wife is...I've no idea if she's anything like him or what I imagine a good mother to be like." He pleaded with her with his eyes, "It doesn't matter...I'll always put protecting you first."

Jean rained kisses along his neck and pulled her shirt over her head before he could.

Kallai nodded, taking her hand off Schuyler's head and brushed by Kingsley, "Of course... Unlike you...your sister has been graced with the light of the Summer Court. It would serve you well to not try to take that light from her." She walked away, leaving Ren frowning after the Seraph.

In front of Kaila, two lean male angels blocked her path. "Miss...will you please come with us." it wasn't a question and yet still phrased like one.

 

tori ran her fingers gently down the side of kiel's cheek. her hands were cold from being in the infirmary and it felt nice against his warm skin.
"i don't miss them. don't ever confuse understanding and compassion with grief. they were awful people that were consumed with darkness. i'm just saying that you were given something. you have all the right to be mad, but eventually...eventually you need to forgive the professor and give them a chance. you don't have to like them, but you won't ever know how you truly feel towards them if you don't try to give them a shot. i'm sure professor learbag had his reasons for keeping it a secret and whether or not you want to know his reasons is your decision. i just want to support you."
she gave kiel a kiss on the cheek and then took his hands in hers.

kaila nodded silently and pulled her white shawl back over her shoulders as she stood. she stepped around the wooden desk and followed the two male angels. kaila knew what was coming. someone in heaven had surely seen her acts and viewed it as treason. she would be interrogated, most likely ripped of her wings, and finally condemned. it was a cruel fate, but she was willing to do whatever it took to protect everyone. she would die, but hopefully it wouldn't be until after they solved the Demise problem. ren would surely hate her for the secrets she kept, but hopefully he would understand.

tristan took in the sight of jean topless and a smirk spread across his face. his hands cupped her bra and moved to trail down her sides and back.
"you're so beautiful."
tristan panted the words and engraved the image of her body in his brain. even without being halfnaked she was gorgeous. he never wanted to forget this side of her, incase he were to never get to see it again.

kingsley mumbled something about shoving sonshine up her ass, but then glanced at his little sister and frowned.
"i'll look into professor. if you'll excuse us everyone."
he grabbed schuyler by the arm and started to walk away, only turning back to say something quick to giselle.
"i hope you like the present."

giselle watched them walk away and then slowly turned to genesis who still had the present. he remembered giving her a present, but it didn't make any sense. there was no way he could remember her birthday after thirteen years and especially not know she was going to be here. he had to know beforehand somehow. it made her feel nervous.

 

Kiel nodded and sighed. "Then I am in luck...your support is all I need to move forward. I've always wanted you to kiss me...the manner didn't matter. It's a pleasant feeling."

"This way, Miss." The two angels let Kaila to a dead end hallway with a large window at the side. One stopped before the window and the other ran his finger down a crease in the wall. Pulling back his arm...he rammed his palm into the wall and a door creaked open, spreading a cloud of dust on him. "Come..." They descended down a long flight of stairs, grabbing a lantern from the side and lighting the little wick inside. It cast an eerie glow on the steps as they walked. All around was pitch darkness and without a railing to hold onto, it was up to their balance to keep them from falling off.

Jean giggled, biting the tip of his nose, "And you're yummy. Like sugary rainbows..." she gazed at him dreamily, slipping her fingers under the hem of his boxers.

Genesis glanced down at the present in his hand. Was it really just a present? The boy seemed to be trusted and Ren knew him...so... He handed the present out to Giselle without a word.

 

tori let out a sigh and squeezed his hands.
"just try to cut back on the getting into trouble will ya? I can't always be there to save you. And plus, what purpose do you have if you're dead?"
She raised an eyebrow at him and gave him a quick peck on the lips before he could argue that he's the one that's supposed to be protecting her. So far it had been the opposite. She looked over, hearing footsteps, to find schuyler and some guy walking toward them. Something about the guy immediately set off flags. She closed her eyes, taking in a deep breath, and listened. There was nothing there. She could hear kiel and schuyler in her head just fine, but the other was muffled. Without opening her eyes, she turned her head in their direction. It was foggy, like someone had gone to a great length to keep his thoughts shrouded in a mist. It made her skin crawl and she opened her eyes just in time to see them stop next to her and kiel.

"hey guys."
Schuyler's voice was quiet and raspy, like she had been crying. Judging from her eyes, it wasn't a long shot.
"this um...this is my brother kingsley. Kingsley, this is tori and kiel. My friends..."
Her eyes were lost and expressionless. She looked empty, like finding her brother drained out all of her life. She barely heard tori's question.
"what? Oh. Yeah, the one that I said was missing. Genesis and giselle found him outside. We were just heading to the infirmary to get him checked out. How's your leg?"
She asked, but only to be polite. It was clear just by looking at her that she didn't care.

"it's all right. A little soar. The nurse did some stuff to it and gave me some wonderful painkillers. It makes everything look big and purple."
She tried to smile for her friend, but it was hard. Schuyler was clearly upset and the drugs made it hard to focus.
"maybe we should head back too. I'm starting to get a little dizzy."
It wasn't a complete lie, but tori mostly just wanted to check out schuyler's brother some more.

kaila stepped gingerly down the stairs, holding onto her shawl so it wouldn't be lost to the darkness.
"awfully dark down here."
She tried to make some polite conversation, but knew they wouldn't respond. Trained not to make small talk with the enemy.
"may I at least ask who has gone through all the trouble to see me down here? They must be rather high up to confine my punishment all the way down in the deepest depths of the school."
She was afraid of what the answer might be, but didn't show it. The dim light of the torches wouldn't show her expression that well anyway.

giselle fumbled with the ribbon nervously. After a minute she pulled it off and watched it float to the ground. She slipped her finger under a fold in the paper and snapped a piece of tape off. Giselle took in a deep breath before tearing the wrapping paper. A small photograph in an ornate frame sat in her palm. The picture was very old and showed three children standing together playfully. Two girls, one blonde and one with gray hair, and a slightly older boy with gray hair. The girls had on matching blue and green sundresses and the boy had a superman t-shirt with a pair of khaki shorts. Her eyes stung and her chest began to ache. She remembered the day perfectly. It was the last day she spent with them before they disappeared. She had woke up the next day excited to see her friends and the house was empty. It looked like it had been vacant for months. She didn't understand why he would give this to her, if it was meant to hurt her or if he really meant it as a caring gift. Giselle turned her head to genesis, biting her lip to keep back tears. The photograph was a horrible reminder of how lonely she had been after they left.

tristan was about to comment on the sugary rainbow thing when jean dipped her fingers inside his boxers. He was more then ready to get started, but had to briefly interrupt before he forgot.
"hold on."
He moved jean off of him and reached for his pants on the floor. He pulled the small square wrapper out of his wallet and turned back to her. Tristan pulled the covers over them as he laid alongside jean; kissing her and unbuttoning her shorts.
