Angelic Divinity

Ren lifted one eyebrow and let himself be dragged away by her. "Oh? And here I was expecting you to have forgotten about the spider already. You must be jealous. A spider....a creature of the night...having gotten further than you with me. Jealous are we, Ms. Camponella?"

Kiel slumped to his room, feeling defeated. After today, he really didn't want to see Professor Camponella tomorrow. He'd slipped up earlier and gotten himself in danger. Tori was scared...and he would contintue to berate himself until he could make it up to her. So much for being her protector.

Penny flushed. So much for his cool composure. Girls weren't normally this frustrating or rewarding...so why was she? She was a puzzle to be sure.

Jean glanced up at him, "Would...would you let me stay? The night, I mean...I don't snore...or kick....so...." She hesitated and blushed, making jerky movements with her hands across her face and arms that sent sparkles skittering off her skin to the floor.

Genesis sighed and stood before Giselle and his bed. His exhaustion was starting to drag his limbs down. "I hope the storm didn't scare you too bad. There's a door beside my closet that leads into the other room if you want to sleep there. I need some sleep...just a few minutes..."

 

kaila let go of ren's arm and continued walking by herself.
"i am not jealous of a spider."
She opened the door to her room quickly and slammed it shut behind herself. The normal constant warm air in her room waa bone. It was chilly even though she could hear the cracking of wood burning in the fireplace. The room was enchanted to always be the perfect temperature and yet at this moment it was off. She stood in the entrance nervously. Kaila opened up a small drawer and pulled out a small handgun.

tori laid on the cot silently for awhile, hearing distorted bits and pieces of schuyler and penny's conversation. The pain meds were only allowing her to hear parts of it, but it wasn't like she was trying to listen anyway. Eventually the pills completely took over and she drifted off into sleep.

schuyler noticed the change in color on penny's skin. She kept smiling, finding it amusing.
"i should probably go too. Don't want to get caught out of bed after hours."
She gave him another kiss on the cheek before standing to leave the infirmary.

tristan smiled at the flying sparkles. He was glad jean wanted to stay, it meant he hadn't completely screwed everything up.
"absolutely."
He opened the door wide and then lifted jean off her feet, carrying her into the bedroom.

giselle slip off of the edge of the bed and walked ovef to the door silently. She didn't really know what to say anymore, there was just so much that happened and all she wanted was to be alone. When she opened fhe door, she spoke without looking back.
"sleep as long as you need."
She shut the door quietly behind herself.

 

Inside Kaila's room, Kadaj flicked on a lamp near the chair he was lounging in. "Welcome back, Ms. Camponella. I suppose you're wondering about the attack tonight. It was not my doing, like I promised. I'll leave destroying your worthless school to my master." Holding up a roughened box, he held it out to her, "Tolberone?"

Ren smirked at Kaila's response and headed back to his room. "i suppose anything planned has been cancelled."

Penny watched her leave in a more or less dazed silence.

Jean squeaked, her brown eyes lighting up with the life she had before. Hanging half out of his arms, she swung her head back and giggled uncontrollably.

Genesis watched her leave, feeling the usual twinge of worry before he collapsed onto his bed. Breathing in her scent, Genesis passed out.

 

kaila kept the pistol aimed at kadaj, but held it a bit more loosely.
"no thank you. If that wasn't your doing, then who's?"
She was expecting ren to come walking in after her, but was relieved when he appeared to not be coming in. it would be hard to keep her secret if he walked in on kadaj waiting in her room. She approached the fallen angel slowly, walking over to a nearby chair.

schuyler skipped down the hallways enthusiastically to her room. She started to yawn on her way back to her room. Schuyler couldn't wait to curl up in her bed. The sooner she got to bed, the sooner she could see penny again. It was strange. She had never felt like this before and the only thing that could make it better is if she knew where her brother was.

tristan set jean down on the bed and shut the door. He pulled at his collar nervously.
"i uh...i hope you don't mind. I'd rather not sleep in my dirty clothes. I mean i'm wearing boxers so it's like i'd be naked. But ah..."
He stood by the bed figiting with his shirt.

giselle walked into the adjoing rooming. She shivered a bit, it was colder in this room. Biselle walked over to the bed bed climbing in to warm up. She laid there for a long while before falling asleep.

 

Kadaj shifted slightly, retracting his offer for the chocolates, "I'm not sure...there seems to be another player to this game. Perhaps someone inside the school. I've seen no one and I watch the forests and town outside day in and day out. The one place I cannot see...is inside this school. I can't even get in anymore....that's right...I'm not really here, once again. Just another projection." He crossed his legs, shaking silver hair over his face, "However....what I do know is that it would take not just a spell but a combination of herbs to bring a darkness like that and lure Hoppers out of their natural homes. Next thing you know Boomers show up and the school goes...well...boom."

Jean smiled up at him, "Want any help?"

 

kaila set the gun down. It was of no use since kadaj wasn't actually there in person.
and why are you telling me? Wouldn't you rather we be weakened so that in a month's time you will have no problem succeeding?"
She was skeptical of his intentions, but she had reason to be. He was going to kill her in a month, so the thought of the fallen angel trying to help seemed ludicrous. Kaila didn't understand who would be trying to destroy the academy from the inside. She was trying her hardest to protect everyone within it and one of those people was attempting to undo all her hard work.

tristan fumbled with the buttons on his shirt shakily.
"ah um...s-sure..."
His cheeks turned a slight pink when he looked up at jean on the bed.

 

Kadaj tapped his head with a finger, "I would, on normal circumstances...but they're putting your life in danger...and I need your life for my Master. And I really don't like being accused for something I haven't done yet."

"Alright then." Reaching up, Jean helped him with the buttons on his shirt. She reached for his pants and pulled back on second thought. "Sorry...old habit. The Summer Court doesn't have a lot of rules but...one of them is that we shouldn't deny what our bonded angel requests... It gets a bit awkward. Especially for Keenan...and I...I mean...when you're bonded angel is in love with someone from the Winter Court...it gets a bit...strange being around them."

 

kaila leaned forward, closer to kadaj's image. Her voice was filled with sarcasm as she spoke.
"how sweet of you to consider my life's safety. Whatever could I do to repay you?"
She waved her hand questioningly as if she didn't already know what he wanted. She needed to live or someone else would have to become the sacrifice. That was something she wouldn't let happen.

tristan slipped off his shoes and socks, then proceeded to take care of his pants himself. When he was done stripping down he has on the bed beside jean. He rested one of his arms behind her.
"what do you mean? What does he request?"
tristan wasn't sure he really wanted to know, but he had already asked. It was obvious she had been around before, but he didn't want to know about that portion of her past. Although, he really did want to learn more about her.

 

Kadaj sighed and stood, his form wavering, "I have no time for the games of children. If this person sends more monsters to attack...do not leave the school."

Jean lifted her hands up as if to ward him off, "Oh, nothing like that. He'll ask a Summer girl to sleep in the same bed as him... He talks in his sleep...which makes it awkward. He talks about her...and...when I first heard him..it broke my heart. I thought....no, it doesn't matter what I thought. It wasn't true. I may not be the purest Summer Girl, but Keenan has never...er...been with me like that."

 

"sure. I'll get right on that."
Kaila watched as kadaj's form started to disappear. She stood and picked up the gun, carrying it back to the drawer she kept it in.
"anything else before you disappear?"
She kept her back to him.

tristan was pleased, but could see that jean was upset. She clearly cared a lot about her bonded angel and even though she had approached him first, he couldn't help but feel a little rejected. He let out a yawn, but wasn't ready to sleep. He wanted things to be better with her first.
"jean, i'm sorry. I'm just making everything worse."
He sat there uncomfortably, being almost completely naked next her.

 

Kadaj watched her, "No. That is all." Before fading off, Kadaj reached out towards her and seemed to decide against it.

Jean sighed, curling up towards him and resting a hand on his chest, "Not really...I feel comfortable with you. I like being around you." Shoving him back against the pillows, Jean pillowed her head on his shoulder and practically glued herself to his side.

 

kaila turned around in time to see kadaj attempt to reach for her and then stop.
that was strange.
She went to her closet and changed into some pajamas. Kaila slipped into bed as the temperature began to go back to normal. Trying to sleep, all she could think about was who might be trying to take down the academy. She wanted to believe it might be kryios, but no matter how evil he may be he is still a seraph. He lives to serve their Father. He wouldn't do anything to jepardize his power. Especially not now when he presumably has control over the courts.

tristan wrapped his arms around jean and closed his eyes. Her skin felt soft and warm against his.
"i like being around you too."
He started to dose off with jean on top of the covers. Not all of the glitter had been removed from the bed earlier, so he was bound to wake up sparkling.

 

In the morning, Kiel waited patiently in front of Kaila's room. Why'd my life have to get so complicated? This place...angels...Tori... Either way...it's one step at a time."

Ren tore apart a history paper that a student had written for him. Watching the devastated expression pass over her face, Ren kept his emotions from rising to the surface. In order to teach, he couldn't be these kids' idol that they crooned over. "Your paper is worth exactly what has happened to it. It's made history look like a silly children's show. When I assigned you to write the Fall of Lucifer in your own words, I didn't mean this type of flimsy glitter. That event was not something you can doll up and make it into a drama with romance...it was a serious and horrifying experience for all angels." He watched tears fall freely over her cheeks and her wings drooped.

Genesis woke with a cough and rubbed at his eyes with the backs of his fingers.

Kallai stood over Schuyler, waiting for her to wake up. "It's time to get up now, Schuyler. Summer angels wake with the sun, and a Dark Court angel is up earlier than you."

Kyrios leaned against Tori's cot, "And Yves thought you could become his replacement? I don't see what he saw in you. A good leader knows when enough is enough and moves their chess pieces in accordance to his enemies' moves. You...dash off like a child and never consider the danger you put yourself in. Just...like...Yves... Handling a Dark Hunter on his own...that creature is no better than our fallen brother, himself."

 

kaila walked up behind kiel. It was apparent how little sleep she received just by looking at her.
"oh good. You're early. Well come inside."
She ushered kiel into the classroom.

giselle woke up in a bit of confusion at first. After a minute she remembered where she was and what day it was. She would have to check her phone, sure that it would be full of messages. Her parents had made sure they would be home this weekend and would definitely worry as to where she had gone. Giselle climbed out of bed and walked over to the door connecting to genesis's room. She knocked lightly on it.
"can I come in?"

schuyler jolted awake at the sound of kallai's voice. Her heart was pounding as she scrambled out of the bed.
"l-lady kallai! Forgive me, I wasn't prepared to see you so early."

tori opened her eyes wide at the sight of kryios hovering over her. She tried to remain emoyionless, figuring that getting mad was exactly what he wanyed.
"well lord kryios, if i'm doing things exactly like yves, then wouldn't that mean i'm the perfect person to replace him?"
She at up, attempting to ignore the stabbing pain in her calf as she did so. She wouldn't give him the satisfaction of seeing her weak again.

tristan woke up, but didn't move. He was enjoying the fact that jean was still right next to him and didn't wany to ruin the moment. They had so many ruined moments already that he was determined to make this one last.

 

Kiel flinched, he didn't like being praised for doing something good when it was bad... "You'd think I'd be more inclinded to stay away...but after this, I'm off to see Tori. Ms. Camponella...I'm sorry about yesterday...but Tori needed me. What was I supposed to do if it was her hanging there instead of Genesis? Lord Amittai told me to protect her and that's what I'm doing."

Genesis turned his head so he could breath from under the pillow, "Yeah..." he slowly responded to Giselle. He truly didn't care that he wasn't wearing a shirt at the moment and that he looked like a mess. Brown hair tangled on his head, blue eyes bleary, one black wing hanging limp over the bed, though if he tried, it responded when he moved. His sheets were a tangled mess around his legs.

Kallai grinned, her blue eyes sparkling, "It's alright. I like watching people sleep...." she frowned and tapped her lower lip with a finger, "I hope that doesn't sound as weird as it does in my head... Either way, I wanted to make sure you were alright after last night. I heard it was a bit of a commotion down here. I'm terribly sorry I wasn't here to help."

Kryios' eyes were bland and void of emotion as he watched her. "You'd think...but there still remains that you're just a child and Yves was a grown man...his capabilities to handle the situation goes without question better than how you handle things. Such as that creature last night. You'd have done best to kill it yourself...or at least alert the High Court soldiers about it. Instead...my little Sanya is outside searching for it to protect her students and you...so she says."

Jean curled into a ball, her fingers twitching on Tristan's bare chest. After a moment, she opened her eyes slowly and blushed, "Goodmorning..."

 

kaila waved away kiel's excuses, not in the mood to hear them.
"i am well aware of your duties mr. uru. Just because i'm not in the courts doesn't mean I receive little information. I understand what you were asked to do, but you were also given an order. do you believe I would allow one of my students to be so easily harmed? She isn't ready for her position and needed to be shown that she can already do a great deal. Your rushing in with disregard to your orders were only putting her in danger. What were you expecting to do if something should have happened to her? You had no weapon, little to no training in magic, and you are currently without wings. How were you going to help?"
She sat fown at her desk sipping a cup of tea. Her eyes had bags and even though she had showered and brushed her hair, she looked rather dishevelled.

giselle entered genesis's room and walked over to her bag. She dug through it pulling out her phone. Just like she thought, it was full of missed calls, voicemails, and even a few texrs from people at school that weren't really her friends. Giselle went back to the other room to make a phone call. She clicked on the buttons dialing her mom's number and listened as the phone started ringing.
"mom! Hey. No i'm fine. I stayed at a friend's house last night. Sorry. You're right. No my phone died. I'm not surw. There's actually a lot of projects for school already. I don't know if i'll be home. No I know. I'm sorry. It wasn't my intention. You guys...you don't have to stay...i know you're busy. I'll see you soon then."
She hung up the phone and sat down on thd bed, wanting to cry. It was bound to be a bad day. The only thing rhat would make it better was a walk outside. Giselle pulled herself together and walked back into genesis's room.
"can we go outside? I could use a walk before breakfast..."

schuyler stood and straightened out her pajama's.
"i'm all right. There was a lot that happened, but nothing that will keep me down. Are you okay? You seemed really broken up about lord ammittai's passing."
She stood in front of her seraphim concerned.

tori kept her cool, even though she could feel her anger bubbling up.
"yves chose me for a reason. I may be young, but he believes in me. If I could have taken out that hopper that attacked genesis I would have. I would gladly go back out there searching for it if I were in better condition, although I think it might hurt professor logos's feelings. She seems to be the type of person that likes to jump into any possible battle. I knelt before you yesterday, willing to receive punishment from you that I didn't deserve, but I will not do so again. I felt bad about what happened to regi and I did what I could to protect genesis, if the professor wants to go rushing imto the forest then I can't stop her."
Her blue eyes turned to steel as she gazed up at the older seraph.

tristan looked down at jean with a smile on his face. She hadn't left at all and that's whT made him the most pleased.
"morning."
He brushed some hair out of jean's face.

{ooc: I finally figured out what i'm going to do with schuyler's brother so i'll finally be introducing him, but he won't be a main character. More of a side one that comes in every once in awhile.}

 

Kiel growled agains this better judgement, "I'd rather die than see Tori hurt. I'd have done anything possible if she were hurt. Weapon or no...I'd have found some way. Hell...I'd have bitten that thing's tongue in half to free her." The thought was revolting but the image of Genesis twitching just a few feet from the ground ravaged through his head and he bit back a cry of pain as agony speared through his head.

Genesis lifted himself up and rubbed his face, "Yeah...okay. A walk might do me some good..." He felt like he'd swallowed nails and drank himself half to death. The pounding in his head increased as he stood up to search for some new clothes.

Kallai's face clouded with greif for a moment, "Yes...he was a dear brother to me... I never expected this to happen...I knew he was getting old, but...to have him die like that..." she sniffed and blinked rapidly, "I'll see him when I go back to Heaven. He'll probably become some doddering old man...reading all those books up there....geesh...what a lazy bones he'll become."

Kyrios opened his mouth and narrowed his eyes as he was about to reprimand her when Gabriel's voice cracked the silence stretching between them, "That's quite enough, Lord Sitnah. I should think you'd be wiser not to bad mouth Yves or Tori in front of me...but apparently you've forgotten I'm here. I'm not going to lay here and let you do this to her. I'm still a member of the High Court and Archangel or not, my word goes along better with Micheal's than yours does. I don't think Father would listen to your sadistic ramblings anymore if Micheal were to speak up." Kyrios snarled at him.

Jean cuddled into him, murmuring her appreciation, "It's not so warm outside...so I think I'll stay here."

 

kaila narrowed her eyes at kiel and motioned for him to sit. She took another sip of tea before speaking.
"and what good would tori be had something happened to you? Running in defenseless to a battle you knew nothing about. Just stop and think for a moment. If something had happened to you, do you think she would have ambition to try? To do her best and work hard as a seraph. If something happened to you I don't believe she would have the strength to continue. So before you go rushing in recklessly, maybe you should prepare yourself."
She stood and walked over to him and placed a hand on a desk, the other still holding the mug.

giselle nodded and turned away to let him change.
"thanks."
She stared at the date on her phone and let out a heavy sigh.

schuyler had a small smile on her face. She was glad to see that kallai was in a slightly better mood.
"well um...if you'll give me just a minute i'll get ready."
She hurried over to the dresser and pulled out some clothes. Schuyler walked into the bathroom and changed.

tori let a smug grin slowly spread across her face. She tried to hide it from kryios, but she was sure he had caught it before she could wipe it from her face.
"thank you professor."

tristan smiled wider and wrapped his arms tightly around her.
"sounds good to me."
It came out as a whisper and he nuzzled his face in her hair.

 

Kiel's eyes flew open, "I know she wouldn't give up.... She's not that kind of girl. I trust Tori...and I'll admit I love her...but no way would she just give up because I got hurt." "Damn straight! No girl gives up that easily...." Kiel frowned, "Who...?" he hadn't realized he'd spoken aloud.

Genesis folded his wing around her in his version of a hug and stood beside her dressed in black with his red coat draped over one shoulder, "Something on your mind?"

Kallai waited patiently, flicking her eyes through Schuyler's belongings.

Gabriel winked at her before closing his eyes and Kyrios stood, obviously pissed and strode from the room. Gabriel wasn't sure if the stress of his job was getting to him or his high and mighty attitude just came naturally now that Yves wasn't there to suppress it.

Jean had closed her eyes when a rattling at the window made her scowl at the odd noise, "Now what could that be?" Prying herself out of Tristan's embrace, she pressed a kiss to his cheek and wandered over to the window. "Huh?"

 

kaila kept her eyes focused on kiel, not looking to see who joined them.
"i didn't realize we were having detention for two. Come."
She went back to sipping her tea and walked over to the chalkboard.

giselle glanced up at genesis. She couldn't help but stare at his lone wing.
"hm? Oh. No. not really."
She stuffed the phone in her pocket and headed for the door. Giselle didn't want to make a big deal out of today, especially since it hadn't been that important in the past.

schuyler slipped on a pair of jeans and a sweater. She had black boots on over her jeans and pulled her hair into a braid. She walked back out into the room as she finished braiding her hair.
"all right. good to go."
Her silver hair shined over her red sweater.

tori waited for kryios to leave the room before waving the nurse over for more pain meds.
"professor, are you feeling better? I can't imagine getting electrocuted being pleasant."

Tristan's gaze followed jean to the window. He watched her back in confusion.
