Allen just stare at the white rabbit when it landed on Giselle's head. Looks like he made it out alright. He thought before the rabbit hand her the leaf. "What's on the leaf?"

 

"not sure. i'm assuming there's another message like before, but nothing is written on it and i don't hear any voices."
giselle sat there inspecting the leaf, twirling it around in her fingers.

 

Jean and Penny knelt beside Tristan. Concern pulsing off them in waves. When Kaila, Ren, Tori and Kiel entered the infirmary Kiel set Tori down gently and shoved Penny and Schuyler out of the way to inspect Tristan. "Hey...you alright, buddy? You have to get your head out of the clouds right now Tristan."

"I don't think that's where his head is, Kiel. I think the shock of Kadaj's threats are finally hitting home. That expression...it looks like he's lost someone important to him." Ren sat beside Gabriel on the same cot and thumped his fist on his friend's chest before Gabriel's blue eyes snapped open and he gasped for air. "Good morning, sunshine!"

Gabriel glared at Ren, lifting a shaking hand to his forehead, "You are such a thick-skulled dimwit. I hate you." "And I love you too, brother." Ren grinned at him.

The leaf flew out of Giselle's hands and hovered barely and inch above the floor and projected the image of a full bodied Archangel with a hood pulled low over his head. "Child of Evion...my decree of the old Law of Keeping, Ms. Giselle's protector will be one Genesis Rhaphsodos. As for Mr. Allen...you will be assigned to stay near Giselle and her Angelic protector." The image wavered and faded out as the leaf slowly burnt up and Usagi began a spiraling upwards flight around the room to no place in particular.

 

kaila set a hand on ren's shoulder. Her mood had changed to something light and airy.
"gabe, as much as I agree with you, you should be a little bit more appreviative. We did just haul your ass all the way to the infirmary from the front lawn. Although hitting someone in the chest that was struck ny lightning is probably not the best way to wake them up."
She stood with them joking around.

tori winced as she landed on the bed. She let the sword drop to the floor, creating a loud clattering noise.
"can I get like...a handful of painkillers?"
She let out a groan aa the pain in her calve intensified.

"i'm pretty sure a handful would make you overdose."
Schuyler walked away from the others to sit by tori's side.
"what happened to you all anyway?"

tori let out another pained groan, hoping the nurse would come look at her soon.
"genesis...he was being hung by a giant tongue...pfft...nnhn..i tried to help him before he suffocated. Cut the tongue of the monster. Pfft...he was too heavy for me to hold...so we fell like 30 feet. Landed on my leg. Thought I heard a snap. But I could have imagined it."

Tristan finally looked up at penny, still in a slight daze. He couldn't make eye contact with jean. It was too painful and he felt incredibly guilty. Like she was just the replacement foe something he could never keep.
"bet you feel bad about shoving him now..."
His gaze moved past the three people in front of him, over to genesis.

giselle watched the image fade away and rolled her eyes.
"like I didn't already figure that out on my own..."
She waved goodbye to the floating rabbit and pulled the blankets up to her chin as she sat there.
he's been gone an awfully long time...i hope he's okay...

 

Allen listen to the projection said and shook his head. It's not like I had any other choice. He took another look around before saying. "Man, Genesis has been gone a while now."

 

giselle nodded slowly. Her eyes drifted to the window. The storm appeared to have stopped and she breathed a sigh of relief.
"yeah. He said he'd be back in a couple minutes. I wonder if he's okay."

 

Penny's face mottled with color, "What....no...well, maybe a little I guess." Kiel relaxed and stepped back away from Tristan, returning to Tori's side. "How many times do I have to tell you to take it easy?"

Ren laughed, patting Gabriel's head, despite his growls of protest. "Don't complain, it doesn't become you. If I hadn't hit him, the preservation spell wouldn't have worn off. I keep Gabriel under close survelliance. After his stupid stunts with his last wife...I'm not going to be duped so easily again." He watched Gabriel turn his head away from him and mess up his face in a scowl.

Genesis lifted himself off the cot, barely getting his feet under him as he headed towards the door. "I have to go...I have to...protect Giselle...and Allen."

 

"i'm pretty sure this would be the first..nhnn...genesis you should get your throat looked at first. They're in your room right? So they should be fine. ffft...you can't protect someone if you're injured."
Tori let out another groan as she winced her face.
some hero...i'm the only one seriously injured.

kaila made a quick glance at kiel and then back to ren and gabriel. She whispered to them so that the students wouldn't hear.
"is that really something you should be talking about here?"

tristan stood up and grabbed his sword.
"jean, can you show me how to get back to the room I was given this morning? I'm kinda tired and have no idea where it was at."
He looked at her uncomfortably, barely able to make eye contact.

 

Kiel ignored Tori's comment and sat beside her as the Nurse hustled in, dropping a couple of painkillers in Kiel's hand and setting down a glass of water before quickly smoothing some sort of salve around Genesis' neck before he left the room.

"You did well Tori. Without you, Genesis would have died and Kiel would probably follow after. That creature is called a Hopper. It's not a very creative name, but it does it's best not to frighten those who hear about it. Hoppers are generally weak against fire of some sort...and a lot of bullets...though I've never used mortal weapons before besides swords. Decapitation seems to work the best. It's tongue is used as a sensor, like a snake. I'm only happy they can't speak. The mundane thoughts that run through their pea sized brain must be truly boring. The creatures live to hunt and kill. They're very fast...it's odd...the forest isn't a place you'd normally see them. Usually they reside inside large buildings...like Churches...or warehouses. Dark places with plenty of room to move. Something must have drawn it to the forest."

Ren scoffed, "It's alright. It's not like I'm telling major secrets. Gabriel doesn't have anything that serious he's keeping to himself." He missed the guilty expression flash across Gabriel's face and the confused glance he cast towards Kiel.

Jean nodded, standing and slowly walking out of the infermery. Her hands shoved in her pockets of her shorts and her head ducked to her chest. She felt awkward now showing so much skin.

 

tori laid down on the cot, resting her head on the pillow.
it was awfully dark in there. I mean i've never been there at night, but from the way it sounded it wasn't naturally that dark. maybe it was drawn out from it's original location because of how dark it was and the fact that since it's a forest it has a lot of room.
She stretched her arm out, reaching for kiel's side.

kaila caught the look on gabriel's face and sighed. She tugged on ren's shoulder as she turned toward the door.
"maybe we should go. Let gabe rest in peace."

tristan noticed jean attempt cover herself up and then felt even worse. They didn't look alike in the least bit. Alexis would never be that revealing. She always wore as much clothing as possible, but not in a frumpy way. As they were walking, tristan stopped and grabbed jean's arm, making her stop as well.
"jean...i'm sorry. You just remind me a lot of a friend of mine. Kadaj killed her a month ago."
He wrapped his arms tightly around her small body, not wanting to let go. Tristan held the sword outward so the cold steel wouldn't touch jean's back.

schuyler got back up and walked over to penny, who was now standing alone.
"hey. You okay?"

 

"It's possible...but I don't sense Kadaj's hand in this...who else could possibly wish harm on the school? Anyone I could think of would be Demise, but he won't rise until Kadaj finishes the spell during the full moon." Yves rolled his shoulders, stepping back from the hovering pool of light, he used to glance back down on Tori. Though his mental connection stayed strong. He grumbled to himself and shut the book he was holding.

Kiel pressed the painkillers in Tori's palm and closed her fingers around them gently.

Gabriel flinched, "Please...friends, don't call me Gabe anymore. I feel...like the name is...not me."

Penny chuckled, "Nah, I'm alright... I see...a lot of people here have found someone that they cherish. It's kinda like...inside relationships...or something less dumb."

 

"I'm sure he can handle himself." Allen replied.

 

"all right gabe-riel."
Kaila tapped the tip of her pointer finger on gabriel's nose, before walking out of the infirmary.

tori tossed the pills in her mouth and swallowed them dry. She had a worried look on face, but tried to mask it from kiel.
is that...is that what he wanted from professor camponella? A spell?

schuyler sat down on the cot and folded her hands together.
"my parents told me that the most time an angel usually spends with other angels is here at school. So most everyone finds the person they're meant to be with before they finish school here. My mom said they starred dating whwn they were third years. I think...i think kiel and tori were meant to be together. Like their future together was written before she fell into the dining room. Literally. Everyone's first impression of her was this girl who tripped walking into the dining room for dinner."
She let out a small chuckle thinking about it. Kiel had moved to her side almost immediately.

giselle nodded slowly as she watched the door.
"you're probably right."

 

Gabriel closed his eyes as Kaila and Ren left the room. His mind frantically trying to grasp at the lost memories. Was it Ren who locked his memories away? Or someone else? Was Kiel really one of his sons or was that a planted thought?

Penny watched Kiel and Tori. "I suppose that's common with your own species... It's a lot more convienent for you...just go to school and find your husband or wife.."

Yves nodded and glanced around Heaven. That spell was never meant to be given to him...had Ms. Camponella given it to him?

Genesis hobbled into his room and ran into the floating Usagi. "Usagi? What're you doing here?" he rasped.

kaila stopped walking when she realized ren had followed after her. Her ivory wings spread out behind her back as she smiled at him.
"so now what my dear?"
She rested her hands on her hips as he caught up.

Tori shut her eyes tightly as she reached out for kiel's hand.
ya' know...i never did get to show you my skills yesterday. The telepathy was the only thing that allowed me to make it here. I guess with everything that happened, there wasn't really time. I could try though...on the professor. To see what's going on.
"kiel."
Tori's voice came out in a broken whisper.

schuyler looked up at penny while shrugging.
"if you say so. I think it's kind of sad though. To know that the next four years would probably the most interaction i'd have with my kind if seraphim kallai hadn't approached me. To be pressured to find someone to spend the rest of my life with within the next four years. I fortunately don't have that problem, but not everyone is as lucky as me."
Her thoughts flashed to her missing brother. Her parents hadn't let either of them attend school until they were eighteen, adults, so that they were more likely to be safe. And yet her twenty-year-old brother was missing. It has been almost four days since she last saw him. They left home together and that was it. He could be dead right now, but nobody knew. Their parents didn't even know he was missing.

giselle was startled by genesis's sudden entrance. She had been staring at the door so long that she never expected to see him walk through it again.
"hey. He ah, had a message for us. I think he might have one for you too, since he's just been lingering. Are you okay? You sound oftly horse?"

 

Ren smoothed his hand over Kaila's wings, "Now....we do exactly what we want."

Yves directed his attention to another large shelf of books and ran his finger over it, speaking over his should to Tori, "If you believe you can handle it."

Kiel gripped her hand tightly, "Yeah? I'm right here, Tori."

Penny coughed, "Well yeah...oh, huh? Seraphim...Kallai? I take it...she opened a brand new door for you?"

Genesis exhaled a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding, "Yes...I'm...I'm alright. I...alright, Usagi?" The little bunny twirled around, landing on the bed again and created a leaf of its own, it glowed and replayed the events revolving around Genesis. He painfully watched how easily he'd been scooped up and strangled nearly to death. "It wasn't that serious, Usagi."

Jean stood limp in his arms, "No...I'm sorry Tristan... It's because of me you won't look at me."

 

Allen watched as the leaf replayed what happend to Genesis. I guess that what was keeping him. He thought to himself.

 

kaila smiled mischeviously.
"well how wonder. Might as well continue where we left off."
She tried to keep the conversation with kadaj off her mind. It wouldn't help anyone to dwell on it and she wanted to enjoy what prescious little time she had left with ren. It was just bad timing. She would have to talk to sanya again in the morning.
"oh. One minute."
She rushed back to the infirmary and stood in the doorway.
"mr. Uru, my classroom. Seven o' clock. Don't be tardy."
Kaila walked back down the hallway to ren.

tori let out a pained sigh as she opened her eyes to look at kiel.
"you should head to bed. I'll be fine and you clearly have to be up early. You can come check on me after detention."
She gave him a reassuring smile.
i can only try.

schuyler patted the cot for penny to sit down.
"yeah, kinda. I'd rather be doing something and meeting people instead of just sitting around doing nothing for the rest if my life."

tristan felt like the worst person in the world, but all he wanted was to make jean feel better.
"no jean. It's not your fault. You can't help the fact that you're incredible. It's my own problem that I have to deal with. I really do like you though. So don't think that that has changed."
He squeezed her a little tighter and have her a kiss on the forehead before releasing her.

a flash of horror spread across giselle's face as she watched the image of genesis getting strangled.
"it looks that bad..."
She tried to cover up her horrified expression to no avail.

 

Ren chuckled, "Always impatient. Kaila, is it really so bad that the boy ran after the girl he loves? Isn't that why you ran after me?"

Kiel patted her hand and stood, "Yeah...I'll see you tomorrow."

Penny sat, "But...y'know, m-maybe you would meet someone here in this school that you're meant to be with. I'm not saying he's an angel...exactly..."

Jean sniffed and tugged his hands towards his room, "You're tired... I...you should rest and tomorrow...I'm sure you've got a lot of things to do."

Genesis swatted Usagi away and the image, "It wasn't serious. I'm alive...I...I messed up. After all, I stand before you right now, don't I?" He rubbed his neck nervously.

 

kaila sighed, rubbing her temples as she walked.
"it has nothing to do with love. He was given an order and he disobeyed. He's risking everyone's futures by pulling stunts like that. If something happened to me, would you feel like there's anything else to live for? Because I could put money on it that if something happened to him, then tori wouldn't feel like trying anymore. Which would mean that kryios would have power and we'd have to wait for a new high court seraph. So before you try to undermind me in front of the students again, stop and think about the fact that there might be a method to my madness. Or i'll feed you to the spider."
She wrapped a hand around ren's arm and lead them towards the teacher's rooms.

tori nodded and watched kiel leave. She let out a loud groan. The pain in her leg was worse than she had been showing him. She didn't want kiel to see how badly it hurt. The painkillers were slowly starting to take affect, which helped, but they were making her feel dizzy. Tori gabbed onto the sides of the bed to make sure she wasn't actually finished.

schuyler smiled as she took penny's hand. She let out a small chuckle, unable to keep it in.
"yeah. Maybe I will."
She leaned over and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

tristan followed wordlessly. When they got to the room he blocked jean so she couldn't leave.
"do you wanna stay a minute? You don't have to...but I mean.."

giselle didn't respond. She just watched him uncomfortably. Not really sure what to say.
barely...if she hadn't shown up he wouldn't be sranding here at all.
