Angelic Divinity

Kiel mumbled something under his breath, "That's...no, I'm fine. I just didn't think...well guys aren't really allowed in girls' rooms. The last time...I shouldn't have come in here."

Penny paced nervously. It wouldn't be fair for his stupid father's side of his genes to ruin whatever he'd had with the angel now. "Ah, thanks man. Schuyler...um, it's probably too late to ask this but...is that guy your friend? He just seems a bit...off to me."

Kallai and Kyrios held each other's eyes in a harsh glare until Enan shoved them apart. A risky move considering Kallai would scorch him and Kyrios would proabably rip him apart. "That's enough! You're acting like Cherubs at our Broher's funeral. Save your petty arguments for later, Sitnah. Kallai...I know you're upset, but please...keep a cool head for the students. Uriel and Gabriel are hurting too."

Regi sulked by the entrance to the school, watching the mournful mass of white. "This is my fault...if...if I was a proper Dark Warrior I'd have made sure our opposing Seraph was safe. I should've been stronger. Mea cupla...mea maxima cupla..." he mumbled in latin.

 

Tori rolled her eyes.
"you insisted last time. Whatever."
She grabbed the edge of the door and closed it in kiel's face, not intending to seem rude. but figured that's how it looked.

Schiyler took a deep breath, trying to consceal her frustration.
"more like an acquintance. We go to school together. I've only known him for a couple days. He seemed really upset and I was trying to help."
She crossed her arms, but attempted a smile. Schuyler wanted to give him a shot, so she couldn't be too mad.
"you should get the facts before freaking out and attacking someone. Genesis doesn't seem like the type of person you mess with."

Kaila entered the meadow and noticed the the former angel and his minion standing there waiting. She glanced at the student that was strangely missing patches of hair.
"quite the entourage you keep."

 

Kiel shook his head, dragging his hand down his face with a groan, "Girls...I'll never understand them. One second they want you around, the next, they just want you out of their face." He headed to his room for that shower.

Penny shrugged and tried a smile, "Sorry about that. Well..it is understandable. Normal guy like me...meets pretty girl in a school for angels...filled with guys that look kinda like they could be models. I can't help but be a little jealous of these guys."

Kadaj sighed, opening his arms out to her as if waiting for a hug. "Yes...yes it is. I'm afraid all my...angel and normal friends abandoned me when I chose to embrace our true Father. Did you bring my spell? I see no book."

 

Tori slipped her shoes off and crawled under the comforter, still in her sundress. She hugged the pillow to her face as she lied there. She didn't plan on making 'girls night.' Or even waking up for the rest of the night. Tori couldn't help but think about kiel while she laid in the darkness of her bedroom. Something yves had said to her at the assembly had been eating at her since she told kiel how she felt. Thinking about it frustrated her and and made the idea of this new responsibility even more awful.

Schuyler rolled her eyes, but with a smile on her face.
"what's to be jealous of? We're not that different. Kiel for instance, the only difference between the two of you is that he can do magic. The obvious differencr between he and I is the lack of wings. Which he got during class this morning, but the were go ne almost as quickly as they came...anyway, we're all just people. Creations of god. Humans are the ones that are supposed to be special, not angels. You saw what happened to kiel for saying otherwise. He got reprimanded by the headmastee pretty severely for talking bad about you."

Tristan left the two of them to go stand back by allen and giselle. He figured they could use a little time alone.

Kaila sighed as she walked closer to kadaj.
"yes, I brought the spell. But not the book. You have no need for that. I'm sure you can imagine I have a few conditions before I hand it over to you. One being that the child returns with me. Along with the rest of his hair."
She smacked nero's hands to make him stop.

 

Kiel stepped into his shower and let the hot water pelt him, trying to wash away the gloomy feeling he'd ammassed since Yves died.

"It's always been the wingless ones that don't read into situations as carefully as the rest of us do." Yves smiled at Tori from a comfy chair in the corner of her room. He lifted a hand in a wave and clicked his rings together. "Salutations Tori. I'm terribly sorry I couldn't speak to you earlier...I...figured it'd be best if we spoke in private."

Penny flinched, "That was because of me...? Oh...well now I feel really bad... Ah, but listen...I'm not...usually like this...or all that talkative. This is a first for me. After all...no one told me I'd wake up today and be talking to an angel."

Nero bared his teeth and snarled at Kaila and Kadaj lifted a hand. "Ah yes...the child returns with you...once I get my spell. As for my own conditions...I'm afraid...a sacrifice is necessary for my spell. You'll do nicely. Being pure and all...and a female..and willing....at least...if you want to save the school."

 

Tori bolted upright, seeing the seraph in the corner. She pulled the comforter down onto her lap.
"yves! I'm sorry....i don't know if I can do this..."
She stared down at the sheets not wanting to make eye contact with the dead seraph.

Schuyler smiled and poked penny in the arm.
"there's nothing wrong with being talkative. I like to talk, but there's usually no one to listen to me."

Kaila let out a deep sigh of remorse.
"i had a feeling. Well whatever it takes to protect the others...there is a flaw to your spell. You have to wait until the next full moon. It only works on the full moon."
She pulled out a pen and a scrap piece of paper.
"the school must not be harmed. You and your monster master can reign terror wherever you wish, but if I have to die, then you will not attack the school."
Her voice was like steel as she told the last part to kadaj. Kaila refused to let any more people get hurt. Seeing the meadow the way it was broke her heart, but she knew she couldn't let it show.

I handle the difficult things up in Heaven now. Your job on Earth at the moment is to keep Order. I was hoping for more time to teach you...but...you'll have to settle with a few mysteries. You can do this, Tori. I believe in you."[/I][/COLOR] Yves stood and walked over to her. He moved to tilt her chin up but his fingers went through her. "Ah...I keep forgetting I can't return to Earth... Being a Seraph is such a demanding job...but...if you accept my position...a new Seraph won't have to be born and in a way, you'll be saving me. If another little prick is born from that biased Tree of Life, I'll have to pack my heavenly bags and set out for the unending void of Purgatory. Please, Tori...be strong...and if you have questions, Usagi will come to you and you can send a message with him up to me." he winked and created a cloudy image of the little white rabbit usually holding a flower of some sort.

Penny shrugged, becoming quiet and kneeded the ground with his toe. "I'm...still sorry about the way I acted." He glanced over to Tristan and noticed Genesis behind him.

Genesis poked Tristan in the arm and spoke softly to Giselle. "Giselle...I'm back. Shall we return to my room so you can get some rest?"

Kadaj yanked his sword from it's sheath at his hip, "If a simple promise is all I must make for my spell...I'll be having that spell now." Holding his sword loosely in his hand, he held out his free hand for the spell.

 

Tori let out a deep breath.
"all right. I wouldn't want to disappoint you."
She looked up at his image optimistically.
"i promise to try my best...but um...at the assembly, you said seraphim can't experience emotions the same way as others...does that mean...i can't date? because kiel..."
She felt silly talking about this to the seraph, but she needed to know.

Schuyler followed penny's gaze and figured the only way to resurrect the evening would be to get away from genesis.
"it's okay, come on."
She grabbed his arm and pulled him away from the crowds of people at the funeral. She headed around the academy where it was quieter.

Tristan turned to see genesis behind him talking to giselle.
"oh hey. Feeling better?"

Giselle faced genesis, who had taken off before.
"um...sure. I guess so."
He was supposed to be watching them, but he had run away. Not a great way to protect them.

Kaila wrote down half the spell and then stopped and looked up at kadaj. She let out a small chuckle and a mischevious smile spread across her face.
"of course you can't fool me that easily kadaj dear. I need an oath stronger then your word. You can understand that right? Not trusting your enemy?"
She held the half written spell loosely in her fingers, letting it float lightly.

 

Yves chuckled, "Yes...I did say that and it's true. Your mind will be cut off from the cloud of foolish judgement by your emotions, but your heart will always belong to you. It's not like we don't feel our emotions...we just...don't recognize them. Kiel and you will be fine as a couple...if he can understand that you will not always show your emotions as you normally would. A smile will have to be thought to bring to your face...a tear shed...a simple blush...all thought about until they are expressed. It's quite challenging."

Genesis glanced at Tristan and back to Giselle, bowing from his waist to her and Allen. "Forgive me for taking off like that. I did not anticipate certain emotions from fellow classmates. And yes...I feel as I should now." He kept himself curt towards Tristan as he would towards the male humans. They seemed to be prone to agressive behavior.

Kadaj growled and Nero snapped a tree in half with a flick of his metal arm extension. "Do not test me, woman! Give me the spell!"

 

Tori frowned at the seraphim.
"that sounds like a lot of extra work."
She never expected that she would someday have to work to express emotion.

Giselle shrugged.
"it's okay. We just waited here for you to come back. You seemed a little distracted."

Tristan raised an eyebrow at genesis.
"for being a teenager, you talk like you've been around for a few hundred years. That would be lame, looking like a teen for two-hundred years. How awful."
He was really mostly talking to himself out of boredom. Once genesis leaves with allen and giselle, he would be by himself again.in a place he assumed didn't get cable. Tristan stuffed his hands in his pocket and stood there slouching.

Kaila stood her ground, unlike the others she wasn't afraid.
"not until I know for a fact that the school will be safe. I do not fear you kadaj and uou will not kill me. Surely you could find someone else to take my place as uour sacrifice, but good luck getting the spell. I burned the page from the book. That means I am the only way you can possibly learn your precious spell. If you want demise to rise once again, then you will do as I say.prove to me that the school will receive no further attacks, ori will kill myself to protect everyone."
She pulled out a small knife and held it up to her throat. Kadaj needed her, even he wojld have to see that eventually.

Schuyler stopped in front of a large garden.
"wow, this is beautiful. I wonder if it's professor ellena's. Let's take a look. She pulled him into a large row of cypress vines draping every which way.
"amazing..."

 

Yves nodded and leaned backwards on the bed. In this form he didn't have wings. "Perhaps yes. But it's better than becoming like the rest of the important angels in Heaven who don't show emotion. Even getting a few words out of them is difficult."

Genesis eyed Tristan, "No...but when you sprout wings when you're a child and your parents pull you from a normal school you didn't get along with before....you learn to speak in a manner that's different." He didn't really know what he was saying anymore. His brain hurt. "I have been...distracted, yes. Well, shall we leave?"

Penny rolled his shoulders and trailed a hand along the vines, "Yeah, pretty amazing I guess."

Kadaj jabbed his sword into the ground before him and growled impatiently. "This is exactly why I don't deal with angels that still obey Heaven's orders. Stupid creatures...fine...you want reassurance, I'll give you your reassurance." Flicking his hand in the air, Kadaj waited a moment and darkness surged up from the ground forming into a few monsters looking like a cross between rabid dogs and heynas. "Creatures that I would've sent to the school...without them leading the pack, the attacks will stop." He dropped his hand and they faded away. "There isn't much else I can do to assure you your precious school is safe. Now give me the spell!"

 

Tori looked down at her master curiously.
"sounds like heaven is boring. You could always come back..."

Giselle nodded and turned for them to walk away.
"sure."

Tristan eyed the one-winged angel sceptically.
"kay bye. Have a nice night."
He waved and then stood there suddenly very bored.

Schuyler stopped and turned to face penny.
"oh...sorry. You're a guy, guys don't like flowers. We can do something else if you want."
A quiver of sadness spread across her face as she realized how dumb she was being.

Kaila removed the blade from her throat and finished writing down the spell.
"here."
She slammed it into his and and then scooped up the student into her arms.
"i will see you on the next full moon. Please do drop dead."
Kaila smiled as she flapped her wings to leave the ground.

 

Yves chuckled and started pacing around her room. "Yes it is rather boring...but it's my duty to stay until I'm absolutely needed again on Earth. If Enan had allowed me to fade away..I'd be at enteral rest instead of once again serving as Our Father's Private Guard."

Genesis lifted his wing haughtily and led Giselle and Allen away from the funeral.

Penny shrugged, "It's not really that...I'm just more of a lily person than vines."

Elena poked her head out from a swath of leaves, "Did someone mention lilies? My lilies are beyond the hedges beside the roses. I haven't been able to tend to them yet. If you'd like to help...that would be very kind of you. Oh...Schuyler...please don't mention to Uriel that I'm still hanging around. She said I had to take a vacation but I couldn't leave my flowers alone."

Kadaj examined the spell and watched her leave. "Nero..keep an eye on the humans and that woman." The man scratched his matted, black hair and pulled on his bodysuit. "Fine...but I don't like watching these kids."

 

Tori shrugged.
"i guess it was worth a shot. So what am I supposed to do now? I don't feel very leadery."

Tristan stood at the funeral awkwardly by himself with his hands in his pockey. He didn't know what to do now that he was by himself.

Giselle followed after genesis quietly. He didn't seem to be in a good mood, so she figured it would be best not to make him mad.

Schuyler picked up some gardening tools as she listened elena.
"umm...all right professor, but who will teach music if you are on vacation? I can't imagine we have substitutes lined up."
She held a hand rake and a trowl and handed penny some trimming shears.

Kaila landed outside the school and quickly carried the student to the infirmary.
"excuse me. I need you to take a look at this student. He was taken by kadaj. He seems fine, other then the lack of hair from the dark hunter plucking it out; but figured we needed to get him looked at. He should probably br fine once the dark magic wears off him."

 

Yves yawned, "But now it's your turn to think of what to do. I shall watch over you, but the decisions are yours to make, Tori. The High Court is yours. Someday soon...you should expect a visit from our Brother Michael. He's like everyone else in Heaven...quiet, bland, and way too serious."

Gabriel stood next to Tristan, not drawing attention to himself as he watched the students slowly wander back to classes or their rooms. "What should I have done?" he spoke to himself, unaware he was speaking aloud.

Genesis lead Giselle back inside and back to his room. His mind busy on other things, he shed his white shirt and tossed his sword onto the floor beside his dresser. "You want anything?"

Penny held the shears loosely in his hand and plucked a stray leaf from the vine. Elena pulled him towards the flower fields and set him to work on pulling weeds. "It's alright...Uriel told me you'll be taking special classes in a few weeks to prepare. Along with the humans. You all are going to have a lot of magic and weaponry tasks ahead of you."

The nurse did a full examination and prodded the bare patches on his head. "It'll grow back. I'll send him back to class once he wakes up."

Allen shrugged his shoulders. "I'm good."

 

Tori's eyes widened.
"michael? Like the archangel michael? That's incredible."
She pulled the comforter off of her legs and sat on the edge of the bed almost in awe.

Tristan heard the voice behind him and glanced up at the older angel.
"you couldn't have done anything, unless you wanted to be apart of that interrogating."
He realized after he spoke up, that gabriel wasn't really talking to him.

Giselle shook her head.
"no that's all right."
She sat down in a chair on the other side of the room.

Schuyler followed after elena and penny.
"oh. Okay. Well i'm sorry to see you go. Enjoy your vacation professor. Do you know where you're going?"
She started digging up some weeds.

"sounds good. Thank you."
Kaika walked out of the infirmary and towards her bedroom. The pain of what was about to come was hitting her harder and harder as she walked to her room. Kaila was already in tears by the time she got to her door.

 

"Hmm...I wouldn't call him amazing to his face. Even though he's my little brother and older brother...I don't think he thinks he's amazing. After all...all those stories are true. Banishing Lucifer from Heaven...it was hard on him. Lucifer was all our Brothers. We didn't want to see him go but....ah," he shook his head, "I digress...it's much too complex. Back to the situation... When Michael comes for his visit, try to mimic him in expressions...meaning..be void of all emotion. The man believes there is no room for emotions in an Archangel or Seraphim's life. Don't be afraid to speak up against him. He does listen occasionally."

Gabriel glanced up, staring wide eyed at the human boy for a moment before letting a natural smile dominate his face, "Yes...you're right, of course. Saving my Seraph was beyond my control. Thank you Tristan...I'd forgotten the limits of my capabilities." Though he didn't seem very happy to admit it, Gabriel smiled anyways and patted the boy on the shoulder. "Anything bothering you? After all...we did just drag you into a funeral and problems that had nothing to do with you just a few days ago."

Genesis ruffled his hair, feeling irritated that the human thought he was interested in Schuyler. "Fine...I don't need the hassel anyways. You two get some sleep...I'm...just gonna throw back on my normal clothes and head out for patrol..."

Elena glanced back at Schuyler. "Oh not yet. Someplace in Ireland would be nice though...all those rolling green hills...and many handsome Summer Court angels live around there." She smiled sweetly and yet her soft green eyes were sad.

"Kaila?" Ren pushed off the corner wall and watched her pass by. She looked in pain over something. The Kadaj thing? Or had someone said something to her about being a traitor...?

 

Tori frowned a little bit. She wasn't great at being expressionless, but knew she would have to try.
"all right...i'll do my best. Will...will you be leaving soon?"
She didn't want him to leave, but he wouldn't be able to stay forever. Tori knew he would have to return to heaven soon, but she didn't want to watch him go. Not again.

Tristan was surprised that the angel responded to him. He turned a little to face him.
"um..no I dunno. I just don't understand how we're supposed to help. We don't have magical powers or training with weapons."
He rocked back and forth on his heels with his hands in his pocket.

Giselle sat in the chair uncomfortably.
"all right. Umm...be safe. I guess..."

Schuyler let out a chuckle.
"teachers dating is such a weird concept."
She sniffed the roses and touch a stem without looking, pricking her finger.
"oh shoot."
Her finger started bleeding and she put it up to her mouth to help stop the bleeding.

Kaila let go of the door handle and turned seeing ren behind her.
"oh hey hun. Have you been waiting this entire time?"
She wiped away some tears from her face, smudging her make-up.

 

Yves shrugged, "Probably...but it's not everyday you get to see your own funeral. It's...depressing actually. But I'll stay as long as you want me to, little Seraph." He held a barely visible hand an inch away from her head and made the motion of patting her head. "How's Kiel?"

Gabriel nodded, "True...but it's our duty to teach you then. We are, after all, guardians of the human population. How much use would we be if we sat around all day and watched you die? After all...we have a second home, you do not." Gabriel held his hand in front of Tristan and materialized a light-weight sword. "Keep this with you. At least for a while, until I find a better suited weapon for you."

Genesis knelt in front of her, holding his black sweater in his hands, "You guess? If you're uncomfortable staying here...I could ask one of the girls to let you borrow their room..."

Elena pulled Schuyler's finger from her mouth and touched it to a single black rose in the field of red and white roses. "Did you know black roses like the occasional taste of blood? The nutrients in our blood give them the extra something to make them appear black. Beautiful..."

Ren was not fooled by her words. "It matters not how long I've been waiting. What's wrong? Did someone say something to you?" He practically bounded across the small space with large steps to stand close to her and gently wipe tears from her cheeks. "You're upset...and this puts me in a less than friendly disposition. Tell me what's made you like this so suddenly. And do not lie and say it's the funeral."
