Angelic Divinity

Kyrios stood and pulled Sanya and the Dark Hunter off to the side, murmuring.

Kallai ushered the remaining students into the dining hall, away from the blood.

Ren grimaced at the blood trailings, gathering it up into his bracelet again, Ren entered the dining hall in his pure white suit. The collar hung open and his midnight blue hair stood out starkly against it. "Everything alright, Kaila?"

Genesis pulled on a new pair of pants. He hated his white clothes and slid on a button up white shirt. "It's fine really. I'm used to changing in front of people."

 

kaila looked up at ren in a daze. it took her a minute to focus. she very rarely saw him in anything other than dark colors, so the adjustment hurt her eyes a bit.
"hm? oh...yeah. i just haven't seen this much blood in awhile. my do you look different. not used to seeing you in such bright colors. well i mean technically white is a shade not a color...but still."
she turned, facing the dining hall. it was like a sea of white had emerged in only a matter of a few minutes. soon the room would be completely filled and uriel would begin the speaking. it was going to be a long night.

tori was ushered into the dining hall, but then stopped to face the door.
"i told the human guys i would get them when dinner started. i'll be right back."
she tried to go quickly, but it was difficult trying to weave in and out of the groups of people entering the room. tori finally made it through the doorway and broke out into a running stride. she was thankful she kept her sneakers on.

tristan watched as tori came rushing into the infirmary. he had already been watching nervously since the doors had opened and closed on their own.

"it's time for dinner. please follow me quickly. there's a lot going on."
tori turned back towards the hallway, with the guys trailing after.

schuyler took a seat at one of the long tables in the middle. she was still horrified by the sight, but tried to shake it off. the room still seemed to be rather humid, and it worried her. it meant kallai was still very upset and she didn't want to see her seraph distraught.

giselle continued to have her back turned. talking more-so to the wall then to genesis.
"but i'm not used to people changing in front of me..."

 

Ren gave her a weak smile, "Yeah...it's not my shade...I don't look right in it, but...traditions are traditions." He truly hated funerals. He was positive later today everyone would be crying and screaming.

Penny followed after Tristan and Tori and rubbed his head, "You're wearing white? Is there some special occasion? Is somebody getting married?"

Kiel watched Tori leave, standing almost lost-like in the dining hall, simply awaiting her return. Figuring he should make himself useful, he sat beside the Seraphim that were present and watched them sit there, sobbing or numb. None of them ate. In truth, he didn't feel like eating much either.

Genesis finally fixed his shirt and set a hand on Giselle's shoulder, "Hey, I'm not that creepy looking... It's fine. Anyways, it's time to head to dinner. I'm going to ask you both to come along...since...well...hopefully the new Seraph is there...and the others will back me on this."

 

Kaila smoothed ren's collar before walking into the dining hall.
"it looks nice on you. You should dress bright more often."
She walked into the dining hall and took a seat at the professor's table.

Tori stopped to turn and face penny and tristan. She bit her lip to hold in a new wave of tears. She had managed to go a couple of hours without crying, but it was starting to overwhelm her again.
"it's...it's quite the opposite. In the angelic world, you wear white to a funeral. Not black. Whatever human misinturpretted that custome was a fool. Dinner will be quite dismal."
She lead them into the dining hall and sat down at the table next to schuyler.
"you should probably sit with all of us."

Tristan sat across the table from tori and schuyler. He noticed tori wave over to kiel. Probably a sign to sit together. Tristan wondered who died, most likely someone he didn't know.

Schuyler noticed tori sit down next to her and saw tristan and penny follow after.
"oh hey. It's pretty gloomy in here."

Giselle nodded and followed after genesis.
"okay."

 

Ren blushed a bit, "As if that's going to happen..." He took his place at the table with Uriel, Gabriel and the other teachers. It made him uncomfortable seeing the Summer and Winter Seraphim sitting huddled together with Kiel speaking to them and Kyrios grinned and stitching Sanya's cheek back together. He was unnaturally happy. Even if he hated Yves, he should've shown a little remorse. He figured Usagi would show up any second now and give him a message from Father, lecturing him.

Penny's eyes widened and sat down silently beside Tristan, on the opposite side of Schuyler. "I'm sorry...I didn't know. Can...I ask...who died?"

Kiel returned Tori's wave and gave her a signal for one minute and turned back to a deep conversation with Enan and Kallai. His face only showed frustration and dismay.

Genesis pushed open the doors to the dining hall and Kyrios shot him a glare that if looks could kill, his head would be rolling on the floor. Leading Giselle and Allen towards the other humans, he motioned for them to sit. "Tori...Schuyler...take care of these two for a while... I'll be right back, Miss Giselle...I should...probably speak to my Seraph..." He wasn't thrilled and walked slowly towards Kyrios.

 

Tori's face face was sullen and expressionless.
"lord ammittai. The seraphim you met this afternoon. He was killed by that dark hunter lulu. Other than god, he was like the head hancho. And now..."
She looked up quickly noticing genesis. Tori didn't really care for him, but was surprised by the sight of his missing wing. She had left before it happened and hadn't heard about it after.
"oh yeah. Okay."
She motioned for giselle and allen to take seats by the other two humans. Tori tapped schuyler's shoulder and was going to comment on genesis's missing wing until she saw the expression on her face.
"what's the matter?"

Schuyler looked like she'd seen a ghost. She couldn't take her eyes off the girl and suddenly remembered why the girl from the picture looked so familiar. She stood and poked giselle in the arm to make sure she wasn't imagining things.
"gi-giselle? Is that really you?"

Giselle's eyes grew wide as she stood there staring at schuyler.
"schuyler? it's been like twelve years. What happened? Your family just disappeared."
She was in shock. They were five-year-olds when schuyler's family mysteriously vanished overnight.

Tristan sat there super confused. He scratched his head and looked at the others for answers.
"is anyone else lost?"

 

Penny nodded, "Yup...super lost... Giselle's from school...but...you know an angel, Giselle?"

Kiel finally stood and returned to stand behind Tori's right shoulder, simply watching with a blank expression on his face. His mind was a million miles away. With Yves dead...and Kyrios trying to change the way the Seraphim do things...it's suddenly Tori's job to fix it? That's ridiculous... Worst of all...Tori...can't...fall in love with anyone after becoming a Seraph.... He felt his heart break a little as he stood there.

Genesis flinched when Kyrios stood. Nervously meeting his gaze, Genesis looked like he was about to pass out when Sanya jumped up and placed her hand on Kyrios'. He moved his hands and it was apparent now to Uriel Kyrios was abusing the poor child as he walked away, holding his arm close to his body. Without his gloves on, his fingers took a purple hue and one was bent backwards awkwardly. Genesis sat next to Tori without a second thought and set his injured arm on the table, straightening out his fingers one by one.

 

Tori wasn't sure what had her attention more, the poor shape genesis appeared to be in, or the conversation between schuyler and the human. Tori almost instinctually brushed her hand over genesis's, fixing it. It took her a moment to realize what she had done, but before she could comment aloud; giselle and schuyler started speaking again.

Schuyler was in a daze as she spoke. The words started flowing out of her without her knowledge.
"we were neighbors, until I was five. My parents wanted us to get as much human interaction as possible so we lived in a mortal enviroment. They enchanted their clothes so the humans wouldn't know when they went out in public and we lived next door to giselle's family until kingsley started to grow wings. He was seven. My parents called him a late bloomer. Mine started to come in a few months later. We had to leave because it was too dangerous once we started sprouting. It only took a matter of a couple hours for my parents to pack the whole house away."
She went to sit down and almost missed the bench. If it wasn't for tori, she would have fallen.

Giselle continued to stand there in awe. it was like her feet weren't working at all.
"you just left. Without saying goodbye. You were...you were my best friend and you just left..."

Tori stood and dragged giselle around the table to an open seat. She looked lost and confused. They both did and it made tori worry.
"here. Just sit. We'll sort this out later."

giselle managed to pull herself together long enough to articulate one sentence and she didn't like the look she got from it.
"where's your brother? He's here right?"

schuyler looked like she was about to crawl into a hole and die. She had do ne well at hiding her worry for her brother, but now she had to finally own up to it.
"i...i don't know..."

 

Genesis stared at Tori in shock and surprise. He closed his hand, flexing his fingers and Kiel set a warm hand on his shoulder. Glancing up at the boy, Genesis rested his head on his palms and listened.

Kiel spoke up from his place at Tori's shoulder, "We can worry about him and find him later. Classes will be post poned for the next few days so locating him should be easier. If Tori wishes it, I'll find him myself." He kept his face neutral even though he was concerned about the lack of classes would have on the student body. They'd be free and greiving and so were the teachers.

 

tori shook her head. She didn't,want kiel going anywhere alone not with everything that had been going on.
"we'll do it together."
She was about to say more, but it looked like the teachers were about to start talking. She pointed to the open seat for kiel to sit down. Both sides of her were taken, but it didn't mean they couldn't still be close.

Kaila turned her attention to uriel. She was a mess and kaila wondered if she would even be able to speak. Her voice was probably raspy from all the crying.

 

Uriel stood, her eyes red from crying and her white dress stained with tears. "Everyone...as you all might know by now....Lord Amittai...the High Court Seraph...has passed on. He is n-no longer wi-with us...and..." She broke off, squeezing her eyes shut.

Kiel didn't take a seat. Instead he brushed past everyone and stood in the center of the room, not facing the teachers but the students. "I'm Zadkiel Uru...a member of the High Court. I know what you're thinking...who is this kid who thinks he can speak on behalf of the teachers? Amittai named Tori the High Court's new Seraph and I her protector. Amittai was a good man, even if but kinda strange...but he always knew what to say. He promised me and Tori that he would always be there to guide us even though he would return to Heaven for good. He's always here...just not present. In our hearts, he continues to spout nonsense and in our memories he continues to live on. Once we ascend and become true angels we'll see him again. He promised and I think we all remember when Amittai makes a promise, he sticks to it until the need for it no longer exists." Gabriel chuckled behind him, nodding along with the boy. "So...we don't have to be sad and depressed all the time...cause...it's not like he's gone for good. I'm sure, by any means necessary...the old man will return in some way and continue to tell reeeeeally long stories." He grinned and a few students chuckled.

Kallai smiled, despite tears dripping from her chin and the atmosphere lightened. A cool breeze blowing through and cleaning the humid air.

 

Tori sat uncomfortably. It was strange watching kiel take control of the entire dining hall. He had an air about him that screamed leadership. She secretly wished he was the one becoming seraph and not herself. He seemed so sure of his surroundings and she envied it. There was no way she could just stand up in frony of everyone and start talking. Tori really hoped she wouldn't have to either. Something inside her knew that wouldn't be the case however.

Kaila watched the boy curiously. They would certainly see him lead for years to come, that is if they don't all die. Her mind was completely elsewhere. She couldn't get the book off her mind. It was an easy plan to get the spell when she thought it was ungaurded in the basement, but now sayna has it. Kaila really hated lying to people, but they would have to keep piling on. She took her attention off of the student and stared down at the table. She mutter quietly to herself, while the boy talked.
"damn you kadaj..."

 

Kiel touched the light blue ribbon around his arm and sighed. Just thinking about Tori's future hurt him. He didn't want her to change.

Ren touched Kaila's hand breifly and winced. He shifted uncomfortably in his chair, "Kaila...did Kadaj give you a time limit?" As if on cue the diniing hall doors broke inwards and a student stood with Nero the Sable at his side grinning like a mad man. "Give up the book...or the children will all die." the student mumbled. Nero pulled a set of mortal guns from their holsters at his sides and his metal extra arms took them and aimed at students too shocked to duck.

 

They all sat there frozen. Giselle recognized the man as the one from that morning. She remembered how she had no control over her body and actions.

Kaila stood slowly. She knew everyone would be watching, and possibly considering her as a traitor. She was fine with that, so long as everyone else was safe.
"leave dark hunter. I told your master he would get what he wants. In exchange for not harming the students, or using them as puppet. You can send him a message. Tomorrow evening at sundown. Where he sent that serpent to attack me. I will bring him the spell. But not the book."
She was certain none of the others knew where her meadow was. That small sanctuary had been destroyed because of kadaj and she hadn't gone back to inspect the damages. She always went there to disappear and hopefully she could once more.

 

Kiel narrowed his eyes on Nero and he watched from the corner of his eye as Genesis stood and moved in front of Giselle and Allen.

Nero happily clapped his hands and set them on the student's shoulders, "Then we'll be on our way. Remember....break this promise and Kadaj won't be happy. Oh and..." he jerked his head towards Lulu's crumpled body, "I'm taking her too. She is...after all...a fellow Dark Hunter and demon." He made a wide movement with his arm and Lulu's body rose into the air and floated over to him. "Adios!" All three of them, Nero, Lulu and the student disappeared into a black fog and streamlined out of the school rapidly.

Everyone looked at Kaila. Ren stood beside her and glowered at the student body and the teachers, daring them to accuse her.

 

Kaila sighed, placing a hand on ren's shoulder. She gave him a light shove to move back into the seat.
"don't. Please sit."
She looked over to sanya, remembering yves say she had the book.
"sanya, may I have a word with you."
Stepping away from the table, she walked over to the small angel. Kaila didn't say a word. Her eyes met with the dark court seraph for but a moment as she grabbed sanya's hand and pulled in the direction of the door.

Giselle looked up, seeing genesis step in front of allen and herself.

Tori sat there uncomfortably. She felt like she should be doing something, saying something, anything really. Just more than what she was doing, which was nothing. Her eyes locked onto kiel in the middle of the room. She wanted him to come back, leave the center. In case anything else happened.

 

Sanya nodded and went with her silently. She didn't have the energy to argue. "You want the Book...Kadaj has asked you to retrieve something from it...hasn't he? He never could fight his own battles." She sniffed and pushed open the door to her classroom. The Book of the Grey sat quietly on her desk.

Kiel felt a wave of exhaustion hit him. He wanted to protect the student they'd taken with them, but he wouldn't leave Tori alone. Moving back to Tori's side, he touched Genesis' arm on the way and the older boy relaxed. "They're not going to come back...and I fear that's even worse. Whatever Kadaj wants that Professor Kaila has to give him...it's not going to be good."

 

She walked into the room, with sanya at her side.
"yes. He wants a spell. A truly awful spell. If I give it to him...then there is little we could do to beat him. I thought maybe...maybe I could change the last line or something. To buy us some time. Catch him while he's trying to figure out why the spell wont work. That's about the best plan i've come up with. I've only had since this morning."
She as she approached the book. It was her first time ever being this close to it.

Tori sat there nervously thinking about the strange talking book.
"it's really old. I bet there is some ancient stuff in there."

 

Sanya took hold of the front cover and flipped carefully through the pages. "The page he's looking for...the one to resurect Demise and free him from his binds... I've studied it for years...it's written in a really old language. I've seen it before...Kadaj used to write his name in it all the time. He's never seen this page before...but as long as most of the spell is normal, Demise will rise. However...simply changing the last line isn't going to stop it... In all my studies I've found there's a second spell that unbinds Demise from his Immortal form. You see...Demise the Immortal and Demise are different. The Immortal is a monster...the source of all the monsters we've seen. Demise...is rather much like a big...man. He's the father of all demons...and letting him get out in either form would be catastrophic." Sanya stopped on a page with a crude drawing of Demise and the Immortal.

The Immortal's figure looked like that of a slug with weird scales and feet...and a giant mouth with rows of serrated teeth. But it had no eyes.

Kiel exhaled harshly, "Tch...why do we always have to be the ones that are used against the Professors... We're a reliability and it pisses me off."

 

Kaila studied the picture for awhile before speaking.
"he said to retrieve him the spell to bring his master back. Wouldn't the nonimmortal be at least a little better?"
She let out a groan and slumped to the floor.
"i don't know what i'm going to do. If I don't bring him the spell he will continue to send monsters to attack the school and use students to try abd obtain it. If I do bring it to him...well i'm sure you can tell what will happen."

Tori took kiel's hand. He was obviously worked up, which wasn't helping anyone.
"kiel, just relax. I'm sure the teachers will take care of it."
She looked at him worried.
