Angelic Divinity

Ren grabbed both of her hands and pinned them above her head on the bed, "So it's like that, huh? Too bad...sweet looks and gentle words aren't loosening my tongue. There...is always other ways to make me talk..." he suggested with a slight smile curving the corners of his mouth up. Studying her, Ren leaned down until his lips brushed her ear, "Now...tell me what's really bothering you." He couldn't read Kaila, but nobody looked at him like that if they didn't have something more to say.

Penny gave him a defiant glare and struggled to stand, "I'm not giving up just like that. I have a right to my memories. You're going to answer my questions or so help me...I'll --" As soon as he'd started to speak, Regi slammed him against the tree with a rusted knife pressed to his throat, "You'll what? You don't know who you're threatening, human. Don't f--" He froze mid-sentence and turned, facing the forest and started to growl from his gut. "Miss...keep behind me." he ordered Tori.

Gaku landed, panting and ran through the school, practically screaming Kyrios' name.

Regi spread his wings to hide the humans and Tori. Out from the underbrush shot a black figure, shaped like a man and rammed into Regi. Holding fast, Regi snarled, letting loose a burst of green light and several vines from the trees reached down, wrapping around their attackers' throat and arms. The creature looked like a man made of darkness except it's face had a gaping mouth and two tiny red eyes, glaring malevolently at them. "Are you alright, Miss?" Regi made the mistake of turning slightly to look at Tori. It was obvious he was growing a soft spot for the girl he didn't even know the name to. The creature snapped the vines easily and tackled Regi to the ground, it's clawed hands tearing and ripping at his wings. Regi slashed vainly into the creature with his knife, but the creature healed as soon as the blade pierced it's skin. "S-Sangvile!"

Ren bit Kaila's ear lobe to keep her attention as Gaku ran past his room, shouting for Kyrios. He was growing tired of being ignored and pushed aside for others' problems. "Tell me, Kaila... he practically panted in her ear.

 

Kaila could feel her entire body turn a deep crimson. They had never been that close, especially in a bed. She could feel her heart pounding throughout her chest and everything became uncomfortably warm. She had to swallow in order to make any sound come out and the only thing to escape her throat was an embarrassing squeak.
"Uh-um..."
She took a deep breath and tried to call her nerves.
"Kadaj-kadaj came to visit me this morning."
Kaila closed her eyes so that she wouldn't have to look at Ren's eyes. She would lose all composure if she did that. There was something about his eyes that was just so mysterious and inviting.
"He wants me to get him a spell out of the book in the basement. To unleash his master. If I don't do it then the attacks on the school won't stop and he'll use his powers to control someone into doing it. Most likely a student. If I get it for him te school will be safe, but a great evil will be released. He'll get it either way."
Kaila bit her lip. She still refused to open her eyes. She didn't want to see the expression on Ren's face. Kaila knew it wouldn't be anything good. With news like that how could it? There was only one thing she wanted to do right that moment. Something she had been wanting to do for years.
She pulled her wrists free and cupped Ren's cheeks between her palms. Before he could say anything she pulled him in for a kiss. A very long awaited one at that.

Tristan rolled his eyes.
"I told you not to say anything."
Before he could say anything else the angel was standing in front of them. Tristan, with a lot of effort, stood so that he would be slightly less of a burden.

Tori's eyes widened at the sight of the man-monster.
"I think it's time to get inside! Hey!"
She pointed at penny who barely made it out alive from regi's attack.
"Help me carry him inside. Quickly!"
She hurried over to Tristan and wrapped an arm around his waist and threw his good arm over shoulder. She wanted to hurry into the school as quickly as possible.

Schuyler looked around the room curiously.
"Does anyone else hear all that commotion?"

When giselle finished with math she walked down to the cafeteria for lunch. She always brought her own lunch, but since she had been running late that day she didn't have time to pack one. She fished around her wallet for a couple bucks to buy the school lunch. She got in line by herself and then sat down at an empty table in the back of the room by a window.

 

"Yeah. Wonder what causing it." Sora replied as he looked toward the window.

Shane didn't really here much of it since it mostly just woke him up.

Once his class ended, Allen headed towards the lunch room and got in line. He got himself the basic lunch and left the line once he'd paid for it. While he was looking for a place to sit, Allen noticed Giselle sitting by herself. Giving it a moments thought, he headed to where she was sitting and joined her.

 

Ren stiffened as she kissed him. He hadn't been expecting that, nor the onslaught of her emotions. As decreed by Kyrios, Ren fed on emotions. He swallowed Kaila's emotions as if he were eating a cinnimon cookie. Pure instinct pulled a moan from him and he reached for more. More of her fear, lust, anger and whatever else he could find. Ren struggled against his hunger and his anger. Kadaj was manipulating Kaila into getting a spell for himself. It wasn't something he was about to let go so easily. Prying himself away from Kaila, Ren shut his eyes and pushed himself up, leaning over her. "K-Kaila...you...you can't do that without warning. Either way...why didn't you tell me sooner? Kadaj is dangerous."

Penny supported Tristan's other side and helped him hobble towards the school. He'd follow the angel girl's words even if she asked him to toss himself out of a tree. But letting her or anyone else know that wasn't going to happen.

Gaku skidded to a halt in front of Kyrios and quickly explained. "Ya see?" Kyrios growled, grabbed Gaku's scruff and hauled him outside the school.

Regi pushed upwards on the Sangvile in order to keep it's gaping mouth with lines of serrated teeth away from him and still the creature puckered it's lips and latched onto Regi's neck. Howling in pain, Regi felt all his strength leave his body. Frantically trying to keep his hands closed around the Sangvile's arms, Regi's face paled and his brilliant green eyes dimmed.

 

Allen had startled giselle by sitting down next to her.
"Oh! Hello. Were there no open seats?"
she wasn't used to people sitting at the same table as her. Not by choice anyway.

Kaila was out of breath and panting. It took her a moment to recollect all the necessary amount of air. She didn't want it to stop. It seemed like she could kiss Ren forever. Kaila reached to pull Ren closer. She disregarded his first remark and sighed.
"Ren, I am aware of the fact that kadaj is dangerous, thank you very much. It's not something new. How was I supposed to tell you earlier? You were acting strange and there were classes and ammitai was there. I tried to tell him, but it didn't come out right. It ended with him encouraging me to look at the book."
Kaila grimaced. Her heart was still pounding and calling to Ren, but she knew she had to control herself. Rumor had it he was forced to feed on emotions for kryios, but Kaila never asked. She didn't want to make him uncomfortable and right now her emotions were running pretty high.

Schuyler stared out the window curiously. After a couple minutes she noticed a familiar figure walking towards the school.
"Hey! Is that Tori? Who does she have with her?"

Tori stopped walking and turned to look back at regi. It was clear he wasn't going to make it. She wanted to run back and help, but knew it wouldn't do any good. She sighed and then continued towards the school.
"The entrance is over this way."
Tori led them towards the entrance kadaj had attacked her at.

Tristan didn't like being dragged along. It made him feel utterly useless.
"What's gunna happen to that guy?"

Tori looked at Tristan pained.
"I'm not sure. Hopefully help comes before it's too late. Or..."
She swallowed a large lump in her throat. Tori just couldn't get the other option to come out.

 

Ren sighed, "Whatever the cost...I will protect you from him, Kaila. You needen't worry about the Book or the attacks." He pressed his lips lightly to hers again, he could taste them again...the urge to drink down her emotions was nearly painful to suppress. "We are more than capable of fending off what he throws at us and the Book is more than capable of keeping itself safe." Lifting his head, Ren blushed. The flush of blood surprised him more than anything. "You...you were alone with the High Court Seraph?" Jealousy bubbled within him, gleaming in his yellow eyes.

Gaku and Kyrios met Tori, Penny and Tristan outside. Gaku grabbed ahold of Tori and covered her eyes, using a slight darkness spell to cover the human's eyes as Kyrios sent an inferno blazing towards the Sangvile. The creature shrieked and burned atop of Regi. Releasing Tori, Gaku sadly stared at his friend. Kyrios knelt next to him and touched a hand to his chest. "Are you alright, Regi?" Gasping, Regi didn't move, "Sir...my...my m-magic..." Kyrios picked him up like a child and carried him back towards Tori and the others. He sent a scalding glare towards Tori and the humans, "High Court angel indeed...leaving someone to die like that. Saving dispensible humans over a rarely obedient crow demon...disgusting."

Regi's cold hand touched Tori's briefly and he spoke to her mind, Thanks for listening to me.... Kyrios doesn't understand. I'll be alright, just out of commision for a while.

 

Kaila sighed, but didn't let her smug smile vanish. She was getting exactly what she wanted for the first time. She had never been so happy in all her years. Kaila felt greedy and selfish. It almost pained her to be so happy. Almost...
"I don't need you to protect me and yes I was alone with lord ammitai. Does that bother you?"
Her expression changed from smug to cocky. It was clear Ren was bothered by it when he had no need to be. The seraphim didn't experience emotions the same way and she looked at him as more of a father figure than anything else. The only seraph to ever catch her fancy was enan and the relationship she shared with him was a strange one. It was more of back and forth banter than anything. She didn't want this moment to end, but knew classes would be changing soon. They would have to part ways and teach the students. Kaila was afraid she would never get to have a moment like this again. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed something shining.
"Is that my charm bracelet? How do you get it?"

"Hey! Leave her alone!"
Tristan glared up at the seraphim angrily.

Tori's eyes were filling up with tears as she held her hand up to Tristan.
"Don't! Lord kryios is right, but I know as being a young angel with little training I would have served no purpose but cause greater trouble. I wanted to go back and help but didn't know what to do. I chose the path that made the most sense. I apologize for being of little help to keep sir regi alive. I feel awful about it."
She bit her lip to keep the tears from flowing out. She wanted to go back and help but didn't know what to do. Now Tori was about to pay the price for choosing the humans over a general in the dark court army. Kryios didn't seem to be of the forgiving nature. Tori let go of Tristan and kneeled.
"I'll take whatever punishment you wish to bestow upon me."
Her tears started to slowly slip out in fear as her head was bowed to the seraphim. She watched as they dripped onto the grass.

 

Ren followed her gaze, "Oh...yeah, I found it on the ground. I was going to give it to you...but things got in the way." He sat up, releasing her, "And if it does bother me? Amittai...isn't to be trusted. High Court angels, Seraphim or not, are dangerous. They think for their own benefit! Unless you plan on joining a Court other than the High Court; don't go near him." Ren wanted to keep Kaila beside him, mark her as his...but that was out of the question.

Kyrios snarled and lifted a hand...

Yves grabbed Kyrios' hand as he brought it down to slap Tori. "Problem, Sitnah?" He released Kyrios and knelt beside Tori, lifting her chin up, "Don't cry, my child. You did what you thought was right. And it was. Your survival comes before anyone elses." Yves touched his forehead to hers and lifted her arm with the ribbon on it. "You belong with the High Court. The Dark Court has no jurisdiction in punishing you. As for the humans...thank you for taking care of them, Tori."

Penny stared at the man and shifted Tristan, "Hey...d-do you...also see what I see?"

Regi was laid on the ground and from there he dug his fingers into the earth. "L-lord Amittai....Lord K-Kyrios...I present to you...Penniphalicious Cloud G-Grimm...and Tristan Abbadon Perry..."

 

Kaila sat up and delicately picked up the white gold bracelet. A frown grew upon her face.
"It's broken."
The chain had been snapped in one place so it wouldn't link together. She sighed as she looked up at Ren. It hurt that she wouldn't be able to wear it anymore. Kaila ignored what Ren had to say about the high court angels. She had known Uriel for a very long time and for the most part trusted her completely. Uriel had never given Kaila a reason to doubt her trust and she was the reason she was even teaching at this school. If Uriel hadn't asked her to teach, she would never have signed up.
"You can relax, I'm not joining the high court. The silly hatred between the high court and dark court can continue without me getting involved."
Kaila sadly stood to leave, bracelet clenched in her hand. She needed to get it fixed. The bracelet was the only thing she had left from her father. It was her oldest and most valuable possession. Kaila bent down and gave Ren a kiss on the forehead before leaving.

Tori sniffled as she looked up at the old seraph and nodded showing she understood.
"Of course lord ammitai."
She stood and wiped away the tears. Tori turned to look at penny curiously.
"And what exactly are you seeing?"

Tristan couldn't take his eyes off of Yves. He didn't even hear what penny was saying due to how focussed he was on the seraphim.
"Are you the man from last night? The one with the bloody hand?"
He noticed Tori picking at her gray feathers anxiously.

 

Ren slouched on the edge of his bed, "You should take it to Sanya...she'll fix it. A girl like that doesn't get away without knowing how to fix metallic items." he said, referring to Sanya's robotic arm and wing.

Penny rubbed his eyes, "This isn't real...no way. I'm dreaming...or I've been hit by a car and am in a coma. I don't believe in any of this. Angels...they don't exist."

Yves' golden eyes took on a sorrowful edge and he spread all six of his wings, along with popping Gaku and Regi's ears for the moment so everything was muffled to them. "My name is Yves. I am one of the four Seraphim of God. I'm very pleased to meet you, Tristan...Penniphalicous." Smiling at Tristan he nodded slowly, causing the beads in his jet black hair to click together, "Ah yes...I'm terribly sorry for frightening you. Fighting Lulu was a bit more than I could manage at the time along with a distance travel from the school and to your home. You're...still hurt... Would you like me to heal you, now that I'm at full strength?" His gentle smile faded for a moment as he watched a yellow python slither around Tori's legs, hissing, "How ssssssilly.... An angel whossssss heart beat beatsssss fasssster around a Dark Court warrior. You truly are doomed to live a life without a mate." Yves released Gaku and Regi and rolled his golden eyes, "Nana...let's not patronize my young Tori. Who she cares for is her own decision." Turning his attention back to Tristan he rubbed his forehead, "Is that all you remember me for? A bloody hand? How sad...I think I might die of heartbreak. I would've hoped I'd made more of a first impression than just that." he said with mock sorrow.

 

Tori set a hand on penny's shoulder, her wing brushing up against his side.
"You're not having a dream. Why would it be so hard to believe this is real? Does it look like I don't exist?"
She froze as the python began to circle her feet. Tori wanted to kick it or step on it, but figured she might be signing her death sentence since it was kryios's pet.

Tristan's eyes were wide and his mouth was dried out from it hanging open. He had to consciously think about swallowing so that he could speak.
"you can do that?"
He watched the python slither around around Tori's feet
"I'm-I'm sorry. I was already freaked out from the phone call I had received and then you talked the cop into leaving and there was a blood soaked handprint streaked across my window. I was rather shaken up. Nothing really good was taken out of last night. I didn't really remember anything positive happening when I woke up this morning."
Tristan's stomach started grumbling as he stood there in front of all the angels. He watched as a woman walked outside and joined them.

Kaila gave him a halfhearted smile.
"I'll think about it. We should get going. Class is in ten minutes. It's one thing for students to be tardy, but another for the teachers."
She walked out of Ren's room ahead of him. On her way back to the classroom she noticed the group of people outside the window. Kaila walked outside to see an assortment of people.
"What's going on? Tori why aren't you in class?"

Tori stood frozen as she was wrapped up by the snake.
"I..I uh.."

 

Penny flinched away from Tori an her wings without a word.

Yves smiled gently and picked up Nana, "But of course. If I couldn't do at least this, what kind of Guardian of our Father would I be?" He bent down with Nana coiling up around his forearm and placed a tanned hand on Tristan's chest. "It'll hurt for a moment." he warned before Tristan's bones melded back together and the bruising was healed.

Kyrios snatched Nana from Yves and picked up a struggling to sit up, Regi, "I don't have time for these petty conversations." Gaku followed him. Regi, however, had different plans. Shoving out of Kyrios' arms, he wobbled on his feet, letting Gaku catch him. "Sir, if you wouldn't mind...I'd like to thank the young Miss. She helped me...she listened when I asked her to leave with the humans..." His green eyes lit on Tori and he smiled, "Thank you. I owe you something wonderful."

Yves shifted closer to the young girl and patted her head, "You owe her nothing. What the Dark Court offers, the High Court declines. Now run along, Tori, class will begin soon. If I'm not mistaken...Archangel Uriel is going to teach everyone about weapons. I'll be along in a minute." Kyrios and Yves glared at each other, ignoring Kaila completely.

"So...her name is Tori...and the Seraphim are protecting the humans now...well that's no fun at all. I do hope Lord Kadaj will forgive me for playing with them for a while...after all...how much more damage could a Seraphim do to my broken body?" A man with matted black hair and piercing red eyes hunched behind a bush. His clothes were dark blue with lines of pulsating blue down his chest, arms and legs. His deathly pale face was masked with strips of white linen, binding his mouth shut.

 

Tori didn't notice penny flinch, but cringed when Yves placed his hand on Tristan, remembering the pain she felt two days ago as he had done the same thing to her. She smiled politely at regi. Tori didn't like being spoken for, but figured she didn't have much of a choice.
"I'm glad I could help."

Kaila hated being ignored, but knew it wasn't going to matter.
"Tori come along. I'll take you to class."
She waited for Tori to walk along before turning to ask a quick question.
"Ammitai, did you have any luck finding what we discussed?"

Tristan stood there in brief pain as his body mended itself. When the pain subsided he applied pressure to his leg and let go of penny.
"That's incredible!"
A large smile spread across his face.

 

Yves smiled happily, "I'm delighted that you are pleased. Oh, yes, Sanya has it currently." He continued to watched Tristan with curiosity. "Humans are so interesting. You break so easily and yet you are capable of such great joy." Yves reached out a hand tentitavely, "May I...touch you?"

Kyrios snarled and backhanded Regi to the ground, "How dare you! The ones apologizing should be the filthy High Court brats! You will never bow your head nor offer favours to a High Court angel again!"

Regi picked himself up slowly. His cheek was turning a dark red and a line of blood ran down his chin. "My apologies sir. It won't happen again."

 

Kaila nodded then dismissed herself, taking Tori indoors with her.
"Uriel's room is just down the hall there."
She set a hand on Tori's shoulder to stop her from walking away.
"Be careful. Getting involved with any of the courts is dangerous and requires a lot of responsibility. You'll loose a lot of freedoms you never thought you even had, and you loose friends. But you do make new ones. You make incredible bonds that last a lifetime. Just be careful."
Kaila turned to walk back to her classroom and second years. She was sure her students would be surprised that she was late since that never happened.

Tori walked the rest of the way to class in silence. She was so conflicted and didn't know what to do. Tori stared at the ribbon on her arm as she entered the classroom.

Schuyler was already in the classroom when Tori walked in.
"Look who showed up."

Tristan looked at the seraphim confused.
"I...I guess?"

 

Kiel jumped up when Tori entered and held his breath. "Tori..."

A whip cracked on the floor, "LISTEN UP! Zadkiel Uru, take your seat! Tori...have a seat, please. Now, in a few moments I'll be moving class outside. If you have any preparations before hand, do them now."

Yves tugged on Tristan's hair and pulled on his ears and cheeks. Circling him, he faintly traced his fingertips along his shoulders. "No signs...not a single one. That's good. You mentioned that you'd met a geisha woman before coming here and got a phone call from a strange voice? Yes? I would like to assign one of my angels to protect you when you go back to town. Would you agree to house and teach an angel of my choosing?"

 

Tori jumped when Kiel said her name. She hadn't been paying attention and he had startled her. She hurried to an open seat not trying to draw anymore attention. Tori grabbed a pen out of her pocket and wrote on her hand. There was a picture of two wings in the crevice between her thumb and pointer finger. She sighed as she sat there in the desk biting her lip. Tori chanced a glance at Kiel who had been acting different all day.

Schuyler noticed Tori looking at Kiel and rolled her eyes.
only the third day of school and already love drama. Figures.
She sighed and rested her head in her hand.

Tristan nodded awkwardly.
"Y-yeah that's fine. Will it be that girl?"
He looked over at penny who appeared to be in shock. He poked penny in the shoulder.
"You gonna be okay man?"

 

Kiel frowned and as soon as Uriel left, everyone started leaving class to follow her. He turned and sighed, awkwardly asking Schuyler, "She's never going to get it...is she?"

Yves' smile faded and he tugged hard on Tristan's hair, "Perhaps... Although...I'm quite worried for Tori, I might send another to check up on her every now and then. I think you'll enjoy teaching Tori, she's quite open-minded."

Penny swallowed, "Jesus Christ..." Yves chuckled, "Not quite. I am mearly a servant of the Lord. A Seraphim if you will." he opened his mouth to say more when a white bunny rabbit came floating down from the sky. Yves blinked, seeming surprised to see the little fellow. "Usagi...does our Father have something special to ask of me?" The little rabbit nodded and the flower it was holding shupped into Yves' chest. "I see... Hmm... Although I don't like speeding up my plans...if he requests it, then I must follow. Tori will go with you tomorrow morning and be your guardian from that day forward until directed otherwise. Mr. Grimm... A girl named Schuyler and a boy named Sora will be your guardians. As for your classmates, Giselle and Allen...bring them here, would you two?" Penny's jaw dropped.

 

Schuyler gave Kiel a small smile and ruffled his hair.
"Just be patient. It seems like she has a lot going on right now. I'm sure she'll come around. You seem like a sweet guy. Do you want me to talk to her?"
She looked at him curiously as they exited the classroom.

Tori walked out of the room in silence. She kind of wanted to know what Schuyler and Kiel were talking about, but figured it best not to ask. She was alongside Shane as she walked.

Tristan nodded. He didn't want to say the real reason he wanted Tori to be the angel he gets. He would have been plenty embarrassed saying that he had already developed a slight crush on her. Tristan looked at penny confused.
"Who are giselle and allen?"
He knew most of the people he went to school with, but being older than the rest of them and popular, made it so that he didn't know a few select groupings of people.

 

Kiel blushed and stood, "Ah...th-that'd be...well if...if you would..." Backing out of the room, Kiel followed after Uriel. He kept his eye on Tori as she walked beside Shane.

Penny shook off his funk, "Oh...they're a few of my classmates. They're kinda quiet and I don't talk to them much, so I don't really know them." He glowered at Yves, "So you want me to bring them here? That might be a bit hard..."

Yves just smiled.
