Angelic Divinity

Yves pushed himself up, "If you want to see it, all you have to do is ask, Kaila. Despite my earlier outburst...I rather enjoy you. Solitary angels are much more sociable and likable than ones under a Court..." He pocketed the sun crystal and leaned against the door, rolling his shoulder. "One sun crystal isn't going to be enough... Uriel must keep the crystals in the basement."

Kyrios forced a smile and ended up with a grimace, "Evening... Now if you'll show me the pictures, Genesis." Handing over his camera, Genesis waited nervously beside Schuyler. "And you're sure these are the students?" He nodded, "Yes sir! Well...it's only two of them...there are two more, or so I've heard. They weren't in class. I've heard one is already graduated and the other...skips regularly... I couldn't find him at his home either." Kyrios' python hissed and curled around his arm, "Ussssslessss angel..." Genesis flinched.

Penny fell backwards with the creature pushing the stick into his chest. The scrambling red dot stopped moving and focused in the center of the whiteness, enlarging to a baseball size and looking at Penny. Struggling, Penny took shallow breaths, attempting to push the creature off his chest.

 

Aside from Kyrios standing outside the class room, Sora noticed the pictures Genisis took. Why does he have a picture of my cousin. He thought as he stood next to Genisis, litening to what was being said.

 

Kaila gave a halfhearted smile to the seraph.
"Thank you, that means a lot."
She thought about the crystals for a moment as she stood.
"I think...I think she keeps them in a box. If I remember right. In her office. But I could be wrong. She might have moved them after all this time."
Kaila shrugged and walked over to the chalkboard to write a few notes on it for her next class.

Schuyler stood in front of the seraphim uncomfortably. She shifted from side to side as he conversed with Genesis. Kryios's snake creepily reminded her of the demon serpent from the day before. As Schuyler stood there she tried to figure out how she recognized the girl.

Tristan managed to pull himself up and start moving. When he looked back penny was being attacked by some strange creature thing. He couldn't really tell what it was.
"Penny?!"

Tori stopped in front of the next classroom and slid down the wall so that she was sitting on the ground. She buried her face in her knees as an attempt to hide from everyone, even though it didn't really make her invisible.

 

Yves nodded once and left out the door. Outside, he hurried to the dining hall and tapped the stone behind Uriel's chair. The entrance to the basement was obvious to the teachers as the Book hummed a delightful song when one was looking for it. Though the Seraph wasn't looking for it, he could still hear the soft humming. Torches lit as he walked down the stairs.

Kyrios sighed, rubbing purple-black hair back from his pale face. "You exhaust me, Genesis. I'm quite tired of your mistakes." Genesis lowered his blue eyes to the ground and trembled, "No please...Lord Kyrios, I'm sorry! Please! Please don't..." Before Genesis could finish pleading, Kyrios reached behind him and gripped his right black wing in his hand. Exerting a small amount of force, he tore it clean off from Genesis' back. The yellow python hissed in laughter and slithered down Kyrios' body. "Nana, don't go too far." Genesis dropped to his knees, trembling from pain.

Penny barely forced the words from his mouth, "Run...Tristan...get outta here..." His eyes rolled back and he fainted. The creature reached a purple hand over towards Tristan, the red dot in the whiteness of it's head stared blankly at Tristan.

Several more Dark Court angels fluttered by Tori, hurrying to the entrance and the forest.

 

"Genesis!"
Schuyler dropped to her knees beside him and wrapped an arm around his back.
"How could you do something like that?"
She looked up at the seraphim with fear and anger in her eyes.

Kaila turned towards her door. She thought she heard shouting. Stopping a fight wasn't usually in her nature, but she had a strict no magic outside of the classroom policy that she stearnly upheld. Kaila walked out of the classroom and headed in the direction of the noise. What she saw horrified her.
"Lord kryios! What have done to this student. I hope you plan on returning that wing."
Her voice was stearn as she stepped in front of the students.

Tori lifted her head up and watched the angels curiously.
"I wonder what's going on."
She had been talking to herself as she stood up and made the poor decision of following after.

Tristan wasn't going to leave penny behind, even if he'd caused nothing but problems since he walked up to his door. Tristan managed to get a hand on one of his crutches as he hurried as quickly as he could to the recently fainted boy. The creature had turned a dark purple and as Tristan got close, attempting to Dodge the hand coming towards him, he shoved the butt end of the crutch in the purple thing's face as hard as he could.

When giselle finished history she hurried to her locker to drop off some of her things.

 

Kyrios smirked tightly, "I have no need to explain anything to a lowly angel like yourself." he turned to Kaila and glowered. This was the woman who made his loyal Ren flustered and stupid, "An angel with no master has no jurisdiction in what the Dark Court does. Mind your own buisness, girl. Genesis is of my court and he knows very well the consequences of disobeying me."

Genesis puffed and curled his only wing around his body, hiding his face.

Ren sulked down the hallway until he saw Kryios and Kaila. A feeling of dread slid through him. He'd started backtracking Nana's trail and finding this stilled his blood. "Sir! Genesis...!" Kyrios turned to him and waved a hand at the pool of blood with Genesis' wing in his hand, "Clean this up, will you Ren." Bowing at the waist, Ren folded a hand across his chest, "Yes sir!" Slumping, Ren shakily put his hands in the blood and made a movement as if he were mopping it up with his hands. It moved with him and swirled until the blood was as small as a droplet and was swallowed up by the skull on Ren's bracelet.

The creature reeled backwards, snatched Tristan's crutch and yanked it out of his hands and flung it backwards.

The Dark Court angels moved quickly, sweeping Tori up in their frantic movements until they were outside and a crutch smacked one of them in the stomach. "What was that?" "Human objects... Everyone, watch for humans!" They all nodded and shielded their wings and other odd parts of them that made them Dark Court. Coming upon Tristan, Penny and the creature, an angel pulled an arrow from his back and smoothly let it fly, piercing the creature in the head.

 

Kaila raised an eyebrow.
"Being without a court does not make me beneath the others. It gives me a freedom those in courts do not have. I do not have to abide by the troublesome rules you have in your courts and am free of these punishments."
When Ren appeared she hoped there would be someone to back her up, but Ren was too loyal to kyrios. He couldn't say no. Kaila wanted to feel sorry for the others, but it was their choice to be a member of the courts. Kaila sighed and stood idly by as Ren cleaned up.

Schuyler continued to hold onto Genesis who was clearly in a lot of pain.

Tori followed after confused. She had no way of concealing herself and just walked into the woods the way she was.

Tristan panicked. He was now frozen with fear. He was certain he would die now and thought it was such a strange way to go. He didn't even have a clue as to what would be his demise.

As giselle walked to class, she had a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach. She wasn't sure what it could be for, but her bunches were usually not off.

 

"You okay?" Sora asked as he crouched down to help Genisis up.

Music class soon ended and Allen headed towards his next class, the whole way his encounter with Genisis was still on his mind.

 

Genesis shoved Sora away with his single remaining wing and briefly gripped Schuyler's arm as if he needed some reassurance he wasn't a freak now and started to stumble away from the group. "I'm fine...what Lord Kyrios does...is my fault..."

Ren sat back on his heels and watched Genesis walk away. He could smell the pity coming off of Kaila and suppressed a growl,"If you pity him he'll only feel worse, Kaila. Genesis will be alright. He'll go to the nurse and she'll patch him up. On the other hand..." He stood and glowered at Schuyler and Kaila, "You two must never oppose Lord Kyrios' actions again. I'd hate to be cleaning up your blood or half eaten carcass from Nana's stomach. If Genesis were in any other Court, I'd have demanded compensation for the boy, but he accepted Lord Kyrios' contract and he belongs to the Dark Court now. A contract...to free another and for you to take their place...just like I did."

Dark Court angels ran, following up one another and holding down the creature's purple arms. "General, do it now!" A lot of the shadows of the angels still held wings. A larger angel with metal shoulder pads thrust his hand into the remaining whiteness of the creature's head, "Begone from this world..creature of the Dark...Snatcher of fallen angel Kadaj." Ripping out the red dot, the angel crushed it in his palm and the rest of the Snatcher's body faded away.

 

"Schuyler. Sora. Go to class. "
Schuyler looked up at her teacher for a brief moment and then stood to walk away. She mumbled under breath as she walked.
"It's still not right."

Kaila crossed her arms. She wasn't going to stand for Ren telling her what to do anymore. Her gazed dropped to the bracelet around his wrist. She'd seen it numerous times, but never really saw it used.
"I will not stop fighting kryios because you say so. I will disagree with anything inappropriate and wrong. It doesn't matter what he agreed to, kryios just ripped a student's wing off. Nobody deserves that. It's not just kryios either. I won't back down from what I believe in. No matter whom I'm speaking with. Ammitai and enan have already learned that. It's time for kryios to do the same. He is no better than the other seraphim."
Kaila knew Ren would be growing more angry with her, or would just be giving up, so she made a quick plan. She raised her gaze to meet his and sadness filled her eyes. It looked as if she were about to start crying. If she wanted to get information out of him, making Ren angry wasn't going to help.
"I just try so hard to help everyone. No one deserves to suffer, especially for little mistakes. I've tried so hard to make sure everyone is happy and cared for that I just feel so drained. I have no energy left to give."
She sniffles and turned to walk back towards her classroom. She figured walking away would help since Ren hated it when people would just walk away from him. If she was right, he would stop her.

Tori crept into the woods but kept a safe distance away from all the action so no one would notice her. She watched as the angels destroyed some giant monster. It was clearly another one of that kadaj guy's creatures. She couldn't quite make out from the distance whom it was attacking, but from the actions of the dark angels, she guessed it was human. Tori hated humans so very much and was not looking forward to going to town and helping them.

Tristan stood there frozen. He had no idea what was going on anymore. Everything was a blur. It looked like people were fighting the monster, and winning, but he wasn't sure. He was paralyzed in that spot. He wasn't even sure if he was still alive or if everything he was seeing was happening after the monster killed him. Tristan didn't manage to grasp onto one thing however, a girl. He could see a girl with those angel wings like the man from the night before standing about 500 feet away. Seeing her made him feel that much more like the possibility that he died was certain. He never believed in angels, but what else would you call a person with wings? Except hers weren't white like everyone pictures them to be, they were darker. More of a slate color. Dark gray but not dark enough to be black. It mesmerized him since she had such pale skin in comparison.

As giselle walked through the hallway she accidentally bumped into Allen from homeroom.
"Oh! Sorry. My bad."
Her voice was soft and sheepish in an attempt to avoid confrontation.

 

Ren chased after her, grabbing her elbow and tugging her to a stop, "K-Kaila... I know you want to do what's best for the students...but fighting with the Seraphim isn't the way to do that. Let me talk to him, alright? I'll...I'll see what I can do." he felt tormented. Old memories fluttered to the surface and a bothering need to stay solitary and follow their Father's wishes and let people in conflicted beneath his skin. Yuukki...I promised I wouldn't tell anyone what happened... He reached into his pocket, feeling around for the familiar metal surface of the pocket watch and remembered, he'd given it to Sanya for the week.

The Dark Court angels fastened their eyes on Tristan staring at Tori and then on Tori. Several moved in front of her, blocking her from sight, while another jumped down behind Tristan and hefted a heavy sword. Pressing the edge lightly to Tristan's neck, the General growled out orders for them to lift Penny's body and carry him up to the school. "Be careful with him, Lord Ammittai said those who enter the forest willingly are the ones." Turning his attention to Tristain, he frowned, creating more lines on an already weathered face. "You...state your name. You are tresspassing on private property! This land belongs to Tom Fallenry. You do not belong here." Angels could never lie when they were under oath by their masters not to. Tom Fallenry was Micheal's vessel long ago....and also the town school's gardener.

Ren did exactly as Kaila hoped. She felt bad about how easy it was to manipulate him, but she had no choice. Kaila sniffles a little bit and let out a sigh.
"All right. If you say so."
She had to let him feel like he won, at least a little bit. She turned and wrapped her arms around him. Giving Ren a quick hug. He was warm and she was sure that the embrace would catch him off guard.
"Thank you."
She whispered it in his ear as she pulled away to walk to her classroom.

Tori was startled as all the angels gathered in front of her. She didn't understand what was going on.
"What's happening?"

Tristan's eyes were wide as the angel stood in front of him. He was clearly not dead, and at that moment wasn't sure if that was a good thing.
"Uh-umm...tr-tristan abbadon p-perry, sir."
He watched as the girl disappeared behind all the soldiers.

 

Ren felt awful. He didn't like making Kaila upset, but it was only the truth. He'd have to try, in order to do something, he'd have to speak to Kyrios about a few things.

A Dark Court angel turned sightly, "Miss, please stay behind us. Humans don't know anything about angels and we must keep it that way."

The General lowered his sword, "Tristan Perry...very well, what is it you've come to this dangerous place for?"

 

Kaila walked to her classroom satisfied. The power of pity can work over virtually any man. Now she just had to figure out how to get the information out of him, stop kadaj, and speak with enan about the experiment. There was a lot on her plate and she had no clue how to do it all.

Tori shifted uncomfortably behind the other angels. She didn't know what to do.

Tristan gulped loudly before he spoke.
"W-we just wanted to see the castle. We didn't th-think anyone was actually out here. We saw the smoke yesterday and a lot of bad things have been happening in town. We were just investigating."
His leg was really starting to hurt from standing on it for so long, but Tristan tried to ignore the pain since he could possibly die.

 

The Dark Court angels carried Penny and set him down beside Tori, "Would you look after this one for a little bit, miss? Most of us need to go survey the area for a little bit for monsters. He's unconscious and in no condition to wake up soon.

The General rolled his shoulders, trying to formulate a plan when a branch snapped behind him. Quickly turning on his heel, he and several others developed a cold sweat, "No...! Regi, get the young lady and the boys out of here! NOW!" Several other of the same, purple armed, white headed, Snatchers swung from the tree branches like monkeys. The angel named Regi, grabbed up Penny and gently touched Tori's shoulder, "Miss, we must leave this place in a hurry. If you could take this one...I'll grab the other." He offered Penny to her and glanced back at Tristan. Each of the angels nervously swallowed and spread their pure black wings or bat-like wings, drawing weapons from pouches and sheaths.

 

Kaila sat in her desk patiently waiting for the next class to shuffle in.

Tori nodded and bent down slipping her arms under penny's armpits as if she were about to put him in a headlock. And lifted upwards to drag him. He was kind of heavy for her and she wasn't that great at flying yet, so she dragged him through the grass.
"What are those things?"
She stared at the monsters in front of her as she walked backwards.

Schuyler entered the room and took a seat, waiting for the next class to start.

 

With nothing left to Sora headed for his next class. Once there he sat in his seat and waited for class to start.

"Sorry about that, I wasn't looking where I was going." He said before seeing who he'd bumped into. "Your Giselle right?"

 

Giselle ran her fingers through her hair, pulling her bangs out of her face.
"Y-yeah. From homeroom."
She quickly pulled her hair into a couple of braids and when she was done, slipped two purple ribbons around the bottoms to keep them tight.
"S-so that Genesis kid, he was pretty weird. Right?"
She didn't really know what to make of him.

 

Regi bent to pick up Tristan when a black arrow of energy landed near his feet. Spreading large black wings, Regi pulled out three feathers and threw them into the Snatcher's white heads. Grabbing Tristan up with ease, he firmly marched back to Tori and walked with her, "Those are Snatchers. A creature of the Dark world that Kadaj controls. Snatchers steal humans and angels alike and turn them into what they are...creatures of the Dark world." He leaned down to her height and smiled, incredibly green eyes glowing in a pale face with a mess of brown hair touseled on his head, "I'm Regi, a warrior of the Dark Court. Would you like me to help you carry him?" He shifted Tristan gently to over his shoulder and offered to pick up Penny's legs.

Kiel slumped into his seat along with the other (nameless) students in their class and Sanya bounced into the room with Yves behind her. "I've been told to change my lessons...sooooo~ While Gabriel teaches hands-on weaponry and fighting, I'll be giving the in school portion." She flicked light blonde hair over her shoulder and cracked open a whethered, gray book on her desk, "Let's see... Well...what do you think, Gray-sama?" A brief pause and then an old man's voice echoed around the room, "Well I suggest the rabbit-step footing first...so they won't be behind the first day of Archangel Gabriel's lessons." Sanya smiled, "Yeah...that's good!" The book had spoken as Yves' mouth didn't move and no one else was in the room.

 

Tori's face grew warm as it changed to a shade of pink.
"Su-sure."
She allowed him to grab penny's feet. Register was definitely. Tori felt silly thinking about it at a time like this, but since she arrived at the school she hadn't really met any unattractive. It was just that certain people had unattractive personalities. Tori wasn't usually so fickle with affection, but she then decided that it was time to find a girl to talk to these things. She had already made too many guy friends.

Tristan was scooped up by one of the men in front of Tori.
"Hey! I can walk myself!"
There was something very wrong about one man carrying another. Especially when the one being carried is awake. It was embarrassing. The only thing good about it was that he now had an up close view of the girl. She definitely had wings and they were incredible. Large gray feathery masses protruding out of her back. Tristan never believed in angels, but now he really had no choice. She had a natural beauty to her that make-up would just ruin.
"Where are we going?"
