Uriel tilted her head, like a hawk eyeing her prey. "The last time I checked you were in love with him. Wrapping Ren and his secrets around your finger would be easy. Of course, the secrets are what I'm after. Kyrios tells him a great deal of things that Yves doesn't know. As my Court leader, Yves is interested in his intents with the mortals. Human girls and even a few males have been snatched off the earth and found months if not days later lying on the street...unconscious or dead in odd poses. Dressed up as if they were going to a party and makeup lathered on their faces. It's inhumane and I want to know what's going on behind those closed doors." Gabriel shifted, "Though Yves has asked me the same thing...I don't know how to get Ren to talk. He doesn't like talking about the Dark Court or even his past. I suspect it has something to do with Yuukki." Uriel shot him a glare and he closed his mouth, looking away from the girls.

Kiel immediately relaxed and leaned his head against the side of her bed and fell asleep.

 

kaila sighed. uriel was always forceful about what she wanted.
"i don't know...just because i care about him doesn't mean he will open up. especially about the dark court. i'm the last person he ever wants to talk about it with. not that i really care to hear it."
she saw gabriel look away and her smile faded.
"i really hate the seraph and the courts...but...i guess i'll see what i can do. it doesn't make me very proud."
kaila took another long sigh. the whole ordeal made her uncomfortable.

tori watched from across the room as kiel slowly fell asleep. she felt bad for him since he had gone through so much. he was better off going down to the infirmary and changing into dry clothes and getting proper attention, but she didn't want to move him. he looked so at peace asleep in the wheelchair with his head on her bed.

 

Diane lay on her bed and fell asleep.

 

Uriel nodded and sat back in her chair, smirking like a devious devil, "None of us are proud to decieve a member of the staff...but, what Kyrios...Sitnah, is doing is wrong. And as much as I dislike it, I believe we should go through with Enan's idea of sending the students out." she lifted he hand before Kaila or Gabriel could protest, "If it proves too much for even one of them, I'll call it off and the students who've been exposed will be handled by higher angels such as myself and Sanya." Gabriel figured going against a member of his Court would bode bad things for him. His vote was cast before he could even give his opinion. Glancing to Kaila, it was her call now.

In the depths of Gabriel's mind, he recalled the last time he'd seen Ren and Yuukki. She was a lovely woman, long black hair and a delicate face. Her eyes were large and magnificent blue that seemed to see right into your soul. Ren and she were polar opposites...maybe that's what attracted Kaila and Ren together? Shaking his head to clear the speculations, Gabe couldn't seem to recall Yuukki's powers. They were unique, like all the angels, but she was different. Was that why Ren wouldn't let go so easily?

Kiel opened his eyes, but he wasn't in Tori's bedroom... Somewhere off, Ren had fallen asleep or into a state of unconsciousness. Kiel stood in the middle of Ren's consciousness, staring at the row of dark doors before him. Several were labeled with year numbers, scralled in fancy gold numbers and others looked like they'd been etched in with a knife. One, at the back, covered in a black, sticky slime, simply read Yuukki B. Lee. Kiel hesitated in front of this door. It was different, inside it held some sort of memory that Kiel didn't want to touch and yet longed to open. "Yuukki...who...is that?" Moving away from the door, he stood in front of one with the year 667 scratched in the door with knife. I wonder what's different about them? Grasping the doorknob, Kiel recieved a shock that radiated all the way up his arm and settled, burning in his chest as the door opened.

The house was otherwisely empty. Dust and cobwebs had gathered in the corners and along furniture. It looked like no one lived there, and hadn't for a long time. Kiel dragged his fingertip along a dusty table and sneezed. "Oh man...dust.." Noticing a shadow move across the floor, Kiel ducked behind the sofa. Peering over, he spotted Ren, or what looked like him. The man certainly held his appearance, but not the luster of life. His yellow eyes were dull and his hair dark and greasy. Ren's clothes were damp and ruffled, as if he'd been out dancing for three days straight. Kiel wanted so badly to shrug it off as simply that, and that the man didn't know when to call it quits, but the way he dropped to his knees before a side table with a lamp and buried his face in his hands made Kiel inwardly groan. Professor Ren doesn't look so good... I doubt it's from dancing. The more he watched, the sadder it got. Ren didn't move for a long time and when he did, Kiel wished he hadn't. Ren's shoulders shook with silent sobs. Removing his face from his hands, his eyes were still glazed and dull. Not a single tear had fallen. "Yuukki...I'm so sorry...look at me. Stop it...please...let me rest!" Kiel nearly jumped from his hiding spot as Ren started to shout, switching from different languages. When he calmed, he pushed himself up and ran a hand through his hair. Pulling it away with distaste, Ren leaned against a wall for support and gently carressed a photo still hanging slightly crooked on the wall. "Forgive me soon, okay? I'll be back home before you know it. Then...then..." he closed his mouth and headed out the door. Only when Kiel heard it click shut, did he move and squint at the photo. A woman wearing an interesting red dress sat still in a chair. Her full red lips curved in a slight smile that had even Kiel smiling. Sapphire blue eyes glittered at him with love, though the love wasn't for Kiel, it was for the one taking the picture. The woman in the picture looked like she'd be quite the prize to win and figured she must've been or still is Ren's wife? Lover? Sister? ...Daughter?

 

kaila looked at gabriel who had already focused on her. she really didn't like anything about that. kaila didn't think it would be likely that uriel could pull the plug on the project. if something went wrong the seraph wouldn't let her call it quits. as much power as uriel may have, this is even out of her control. she didn't feel right about tricking ren into giving up information about something so horrible, but it needed to be done. the dark court was doing some awful things and it needed to be stopped. as soon as possible.

tori looked over at kiel who was making a lot of strange noises and moving in his sleep. she wasn't sure if she should wake him since he had been through so much today, but tori was feeling uncomfortable with the way he was acting in his sleep. bad dreams were awful and it looked like he was having a pretty nasty one. she got out of the chair and walked over to the sleeping kiel. when tori reached him she placed a hand on his shoulder and gently started shaking him.
"hey. kiel! kiel wake up. you're having a bad dream. kiel wake up."

 

Gabriel and Uriel relaxed back into their chairs, "We'll settle this Kaila."

Kiel grabbed the photo and brushed his thumb across the bottom. Setting it aside, he noticed a blue pulsating watch lying under the tabe. Ren must've dropped it when he'd come inside. "What's this?" Kneeling, he'd almost grabbed it when Tori's voice broke through his dream. "N-no! Tori, no!" Kiel jerked awake, grabbing Tori's wrists and panted. "T-Tori...are you..?" he sighed and released her. "Oh, jesus...you're real. My dream....it felt so real. I saw...Professor Ren...his house looked like crap. They say...a house matches the owner. Ren looked awful too..."

Ren opened his eyes feeling violated. His head hurt and his vision was foggy. "Mmmh...someone...was in my head. Kyrios? No...this one was amature work." Pushing himself up, Ren rolled his shoulders and took a moment to allow the emotions rolling through him to replenish his energy and heal the glass cuts in his back.

 

kaila nodded reluctantly. things weren't going to end well. the conversation hadn't gone in the direction she planned and figured it would be best to leave soon. she sat back in her chair trying to figure out how she would go about getting the information out of ren. it would be difficult and there was no way she could flat out ask him. kaila sighed in frustration.

tori looked at kiel confused.
"of course i'm real. kiel you were just dreaming. it's not like any of that really happened. dreams are just that, not real."
she looked at the clock on the wall and couldn't believe how late it had already gotten.
"i should probably get you back to the infirmary."
before he could protest she had already grabbed the handles of the wheelchair and started pushing it out the door.

schuyler walked into the dorm and saw that diane was already asleep. nearby her dog was sleeping and schuyler could feel her eyes slowly starting to burn. she went over to her medicine in a drawer by her bed and grabbed her bottle of allergy medication. she needed to take some right away in order to make it through the night.

 

Gabriel stood and stretched. His back cracked and he made a muffled groaning noise, "I should get to bed. Long day...after all, a warrior needs his rest." Grinning, Gabe sent a casual wave towards Uriel and ruffled Kaila's hair, "Try not to think too much about it. Ren may be the history buff, but he's not to smart when it comes to himself and other people."

Kiel scrubbed his face and nodded, "Yeah...yeah...they're not real..." If it's not real then who was Yuukki...I surely didn't make her up. No way would I make up someone that would cause Professor Ren that much trouble. As soon as Tori wheeled Kiel back into the infermary the nurse started fussing over him. Sanay smiled, patting his leg, "You alright? When you two didn't come back after dinner, I was worried." He nodded silently as they shuffled him back into his bed. "Alright then. Lay still and we'll get the medicine ready for you. Thank you Tori, for all your help."

 

kaila glared up at gabriel. she was very particular about her hair and having it ruffled was a huge pet peeve of hers. she was pretty sure he was aware of that fact too.
"goodnight gabriel."
she turned her attention to uriel.
"this is going to be a long school year."

tori nodded and was just about to walk out of the infirmary when she remembered that she wanted to talk with sanya.
"professor may i have a quick word with you?"
she walked over to the door so that kiel wouldn't hear them.

schuyler dumped a couple of pills out of the bottle and quickly tried to dry swallow them. she needed to get them down before the allergies started to really kick in. especially since she still had a migraine and needed to get to sleep fast. writhing in pain from burning eyes and itchy nose wasn't going to help the case.

 

Once Sora had gotten to his room, he quickly landed himself on his bed and drifted off to sleep.

By the time Shane had made it to his room his eyes were already drooping. So he plopped himself onto the bed and fell asleep.

 

Uriel sighed and set her chin on her desk, "Yes, it is...and I just wanted to have another year of peace.... I suppose...that's not going to happen. Now I have to deal with mortal fire departments asking what the fire in the forest was about and the sudden storm creating unfortunate lightning strikes all over town." She frowned at the only piece of technology in her room. The small telephone with an answering machine held a blinking light indicating Uriel had 6 new messages. "I wish I could just erase their memories...but that would go against Michael's wishes. Wanting to leave the school and town living in harmony without the use of powers...such a bother our brother is."

Sanya perked up and followed after Tori. "What's wrong?" She frowned at Tori and sniffed at her briefly, "You smell like rain. Did you go outside?"

A dull light shone in Schulyer and Diane's room and a transparent woman wearing a black and white maid's uniform smiled and held out a glass of water for Schulyer to take. She had short blue hair and bright light blue eyes that were pure blue. An exact replica of the woman was engraved on the door to their room. Without a word she smiled and remained holding the glass for the young angel.

 

kaila let out a small chuckle at the last bit but then sighed.
"yes, this is going to be rather troublesome to explain. the humans most certainly weren't expecting a storm, let alone a freak lightning storm like that. things can never be quiet around here can they?"
her eyes fixated on the blinking red light. it captured her focus and she couldn't take her eyes off it.

tori looked down at sanya uncomfortably.
"yeah-um...i went outside and was sitting on a bench in the rain when this man approached me. he was asking for kiel. i had a bad feeling about him so i lied saying i didn't know of him. the man was buying it right up until the point where kiel came outside looking for me. there was a fight and unfortunately he's in worse shape then when we left the infirmary. if i hadn't grabbed a rock and hit the guy in the back of the head we might not be standing here right now. it was that man you spoke of during dinner. kadaj...he tried to use the darkness to get kiel to kill himself. yves's gift kept him from walking off a cliff."
she held up her wrist, showing the light blue ribbon wrapped around it. something bad was brewing and tori wasn't looking forward to it.

schuyler was startled by the woman, but then reached out taking the glass of water. she whispered a thank you and then took the allergy pills. she also grabbed a couple aspirin for her migraine and then set the glass down on the nightstand by her bed.

 

Uriel's sigh left her looking old, "You should go to sleep, Kaila. It's been a long day. Gabriel will take care of the Seraphim's assignments and I'll deal with the townspeople. They aren't too hard to appease. After all, when you're an angel..you have incredible good looks." she smiled and flicked her dull brown hair over her shoulder. It wasn't apparent to other angels, but to humans, they were the image of perfection.

Sanya glowered for a moment and nodded curtly. "Right, bench, rock, Kadaj...got it." With that she bolted out of the infermary, her little legs working quickly and the slam from the outer doors could be heard down the hall back to Kiel and Tori. The nurse returned after a muffled 'ow' from Kiel and set a hand on Tori's forehead, "You're fine. A few sniffles, that's all. Go get some rest and you'll be fine. Mr. Zadkiel will remain here through the night. He will resume classes tomorrow." Kiel groaned in the other room and she rolled her baby blue eyes, "And you'll see him again at breakfast."

The woman smiled again, nodding her head once before becoming apart of the door again.

 

kaila chuckled as uriel tossed her hair back. even with being on the same playing field kaila could tell uriel was beautiful, but to the humans she was extraordinary. she stood up and straightened out her skirt before turning to leave.
"i'll see you at breakfast. goodnight."
kaila went to walk out the door and head back to her room for the night.

tori watched as sanya stormed off. she could hear all the commotion she was causing and needed to run out the door in order to catch up with her.
"i'll see you in the morning kiel. save you a seat."
before she could hear his response, tori was out the door and running down the hallways towards the sound of slamming doors.
"professor! profes-professor...i...i had one more th-thing to say. a question re-really."
she was out of breath and having issues getting her words out after chasing after sanya.

schuyler watched as the woman faded back into the painting and went to a drawer to grab her pajamas. she changed quickly and laid down in her bed trying to fall asleep. the pain from her head and the itchiness in her eyes made it difficult. schuyler felt like she had been writing in pain for hours before she finally fell asleep.

 

Uriel let Kaila leave before moving into the separated room from her office and slid into bed.

Sanya let out a fierce battle cry and stood in the rain. Her mechanical arm had transformed into a long glimmering blade. "Kadaj! You snivelling coward! You'll attack my students, but you won't face me?!" Her form shivered and she dropped to her knees. The dainty white dress she wore stained instanty with mud. Sanya sobbed aloud, letting her tears mix with rain water. "BAKA! You idiot! I wish...my heart were made of steel too..." Her head jerked up and turned towards Tori. Rubbing at her face, Sanya realized, too late, that she'd smeared mud all over her face, "T-Tori...you...weren't supposed to follow me..."

 

tori's eyes were wide as she watched sanya.
"i...i had something to ask...but...do you...do you like him professor? the way you were talking at dinner...and just now...are you...in love?"
she found it absurd that someone could like a person like that, but there was something about sanya that said otherwise. tori almost forgot the reason why she chased after the young professor. she had finally started to get dry and now her whole body was being drenched in the rain all over again.

kaila walked back to her room disappointed. today had not gone the way she expected. things had been rotten since the moment she had entered the school for the new year. she got in a fight with ren, lost her bracelet, had her sanctuary burned to ash, and now she has to figure out a way to get ren to talk to her about the murders. when she entered her room she changed into some silk pajamas and crawled into bed. kaila fell asleep almost instantly.

 

Sanya started pushing at Tori, shoving her under the ledge of the entrance, "Oh my...um...how can I explain this... Tori...Kadaj used to be a teacher here. He was a good man, I swear. It was such a long time ago, before Kaila came and Uriel took over the school. Kadaj was the headmaster before Uriel... I never chose to like him...it just kinda happened." Sanya lowered her head, "I promised Uriel my feelings wouldn't get in the way of my job. Oh! You can't tell anyone else about this, Tori!" Her metal arm morphed back into it's normal shape and clutched at Tori's clothes.

Enan's hand hesitated at Kaila's door. "You'd best stay away from her if you want to keep that hand." He stopped and turned his head, "And if I don't? You'll take my hand? Ren, you shouldn't overstep your bounds. Kaila is still a free angel and thus she is anyone's game." Ren growled, he was so glad he'd put on a shirt to hide the still healing wounds on his back, "Kaila is not a pawn in your games, Enan. She's an angel, a higher being, and more or less a human being. She isn't yours to mess with!" Enan's light blue eyes narrowed, "Oh...and is she yours?" Ren's anger dissipated and he lost the train of argument. "Well...no, but..." Pushing, Enan stepped into Ren's personal bubble and sniffed at his neck, "You don't even carry her scent. Either you go to great lengths to hide her scent on your body, or....she's not even into you. At all." Ren revisited his memory of being in Kaila's room, but the fact that he woud carry her scent would mean he'd have to... Ren blushed and Enan grinned, "In many ways you're still a cherub. I'll leave Kaila for the night, but tomorrow, classes resume and Ammittai will be here to oversee everything. He has more interest in the student Tori than Kaila, but soon our plans will be pulling ahead." Ren watched him fade away into a chilly mist and manuver through the halls.

tori could see how upset sanya was about this so she nodded and patted the young professor's head.
"sure. i'll keep it to myself. but i have something to ask. do you know where i could get some clothes? i lost my luggage when i was attacked on my way to school and so this is the only clothing i have."
she pointed at the wet outfit she had on.
"it's not like i can keep wearing the same thing everyday for the next year..."
tori sighed. she had a lot of cute clothes in her suitcase and the thought of them being destroyed by the monsters and lost forever depressed her, especially since she didn't have the money to buy new clothes.

Personality: a bit of a loner that spends more time in the woods by her house chasing after animals than with friends in town. was never good at talking to others and kept to herself in school. she has always been the honor student at the back of the class sitting by the misfits. nobody has ever understood why.
Bio: giselle has spent her entire life alone. her parents were always gone because of work and so that left her with a lot of time to find things to entertain herself. giselle has a large woods behind her house and to pass time she would go out there with a camera and capture pictures of the animals and nature sights. her room is now filled with the pictures she's taken. when at school she never felt connected other students, but always sat by the kids that were in detention and got in trouble so that she would at least have someone that would want to cheat off her assignments. lately strange things seemed to be happening. when she would go to the woods healthy trees would just fall right in front of her. almost as if they were about to fall on her and when she would walk to school it seems like the littlest things were out to get her. giselle wasn't sure if it was all in her head or if these things were actually happening.

Personality: fun loving and easy going. an all around mr. popular. didn't necessarily do great in school but passed above average. always open for an adventure and is the person that is willing to do anything. never backs down from a dare and is the one to be the first to try something new in a group.
Bio: tristan has always had a great life. works hard, played sports, and has grown up in a big family that loves him. he's the second oldest in the family of 7. things always seemed to just come easy to him until recently. tristan didn't feel like he could do anything. especially after he was hit by a car in town earlier this week. he spent three days in the hospital and ended up with a broken arm, leg, and a concussion. he didn't understand where his recent stream of bad luck has come from, but is afraid it's only going to get worse.

 

Sanya glanced out into the darkness, "We'll have to look for them in the morning... Ammittai will be here tomorrow, I'm sure if you asked him he'd gratefully go look for them." She nervously bit her lip, "But...let's head back to bed for now... It'd dangerous to be out here at this time of night."

A man with ragged black hair leaned back against the hard, cold stone of the apartment building where his current target was staying. He'd successfully frightened the boy until he'd moved in with his cleptomaniac aunt. "What a day...too bad he's moved here...no one's attempted to build things here in soooo long. But...plenty more things to do. I love my job." He laughed aloud and a stray cat skittered off a trashcan, knocking it over and causing the man to jump. "Jeez...unstable neighborhood."

A swish of black and just the barest twinkle of red sparks hidden by the movement of leaves in the forest. "Unite the earth and the skies~ Bring the light back unto the people~" a soft voice sang out of the darkness.

 

Tori nodded her head and followed sanya back into the school. She hated not having anything else to wear, but perked up a bit at the thought of seeing Yves again. There was so much she didn't understand and Tori was filled with questions.

Giselle sat in her room doing homework. She could see the woods through her window and she sat there sulking. All giselle wanted was to go back out there but things just seemed to be getting dangerous all of a sudden. When that last tree fell unexpectedly she told herself that she wouldn't go back out there for awhile. It was hard for her to stay in the house.

Tristan sat there in the kitchen staring at all the signatures on his casts. He couldn't help but feel like something bad was happening. He had checked the street five times before crossing and then out of nowhere a bus was hitting him. It didn't make any sense. Not to him at least. The police said he wasbeing careless, but he knew that wasn't the case.
