kaila sighed while rolling her eyes. she wanted this conversation to be done with, but it was clearly not over with.
"i don't mind you being here."
she walked over to a chair and sat down before speaking again.
"he didn't flat out say 'will you join the winter court,' but he did say i would be a nice addition to it. then on my way back to the room he stopped me wanting to better understand why i was opposing the idea of sending the students to work with the humans and he asked me to help with some test. he said it was related to the nephilim and it would help us understand why that boy doesn't have wings. he's supposed to be an angel and a relative of gabriel, but he is wingless. he's the only student in the entire school that won't have to mask himself."
kaila reached over grabbing a piece of bread to nibble on.
"i turned enan down. for being a seraphim that doesn't really understand human emotion, he gets awfully jealous."
there was a smile on her face as she sighed. kaila found it quite amusing. she looked over to where ren's clothes hung above the fire.
"you're clothes should be dry soon...if you'd like to leave."

tori looked at kiel uncomfortably.
"i-i don't know..."
she looked around almost begging for someone to walk over and interrupt the conversation. when it appeared that that would happen, she did the only thing she could.
"i'm sorry kiel but i have to go."
tori got up in a hurry and rushed out of the dining hall. she thought about going to the dorm, but since they were allowed to have a free evening of doing whatever, tori decided to go outside. she hurried out the front doors even though it was still raining. there was a stone bench not too far away and she went to sit down on it. the rain was beating down on her face making it hard to see, but that didn't bother tori. she just needed to escape.
that was close...i can't go to that town...or any really. it's just too hard. my parent's are dark angels, but i swear those humans are far more evil.
she sighed as the rain started to come down harder.

schuyler was semi-aware of the fact that she and james were growing attention. it was only the first real day of school and the two of them were causing a scene.
great. everyone's gunna be talking about us. i love bad reputations...

 

Ren frowned, "No...that doesn't make sense.... Enan wouldn't risk Nephil blood being passed on. Why would he suggest...? If that boy is Nephilim we'd have seen it by now. Some display of strength or...unnatural desire. Anything..." He growled low in his throat as he sat on Kaila's bed, laying back, he tossed his arm over his eyes.

Underneath the bed, a little skeleton head poked out and opened it's mouth, panting silently at Kaila.

Kiel watched Tori leave, confused. "Was it something I said? You'd think I'd suggested jumping into a barrel of acid the way she ran out of here..." He sighed and pushed his food around, no longer hungry. He really wanted to spend some time with Tori but knowing about the town made his skin crawl and his blood feel like it was on fire. He wanted to be around humans instead of angels for a while.

A silver haired man stepped out of the darkness in front of Tori. "Pardon me, miss..." his green eyes glittered in the dark as rain slid down a black suit he wore and beaded on his polished boots. "Is there a boy named Zadkiel in this school?" Pure black wings shifted behind him and lightly shook rain off.

 

kaila watched ren lay back on her bed frustratingly.
"i don't know if he thinks that the boy is a nephilim, but he said it was a test and had to do with the boy."
she heard panting coming from the bed and had a creeped out thought for a moment when she thought it was coming from ren.
"umm...where is that coming from?"

tori stared up at the man perplexed. she got a bad feeling from him and felt like kiel would be in some sort of trouble if she said yes. so she did the one thing that didn't seem endangering.
"n-no...i have no clue. i'm new and haven't met everyone. i wouldn't be able to tell you."
she tried to keep the fact that she was lying hidden from her voice, but was afraid her face may have given it away.

 

Ren lifted his arm and frowned, "Where is what coming from??"

The small skeleton barked sharply, 'Arf! Rrrr-arf!'

Bolting upright, Ren's hand flew to his leg, forgetting he wasn't wearing his pants. "I know that bark... Scraps, c'mere boy!" Out from under the bed, the little skeleton dog scrambled and circled Kaila's legs once...twice...and hopped up onto her bed, nuzzling Ren. "Hey boy. How did you get out? I thought I told you last time to stay in your box until I took you out."

The man chuckled, "That's unfortunate. I had hoped you knew him....but then you wouldn't be a good girl anymore. I wanted to talk to him." He brushed silver hair back from his face and looked up into the rain.

 

"You're the one hanging out with her the most. I thought that you'd at least make an effort to know her more." he said. He was mad that she hadn't even thought of getting to know his sister better. But the again, they hadn't had much time.

 

kaila was dumbfounded. her eyes were wide and her jaw dropped. a skeleton dog and it circled her feet and then jumped up onto her bed.
"WHAT is that?"
her arm was outstretched and her finger pointing directly at the skeletal creature. she wasn't sure if she should be more disgusted or creeped out by it.

tori attempted to keep her gaze on the man, but the rain was making it hard to see.
"i'm sorry, but i can't help you. i should probably go back inside before i get sick."
her clothes were completely stuck to her since they were soaking wet. she stood up but it required some work since her clothes were weighing her down.

schuyler was appalled by the way james was talking to her.
"excuse, but what did you expect? for your sister and i to be b-f-f's after a day? that i should know her entire life story? well news flash james: I DON'T!"
schuyler got up storming out of the dining hall. there was no way she was just going to sit there and get yelled at for no reason. he had logical reason to be mad at her, but yet he was. schuyler was so angry that by the time she stopped to see where she was, she had managed to get lost in the academy.

 

That could've ended better. Sora thought as Schuyler stormed out of the dinning hall. Looking down at his on food, he noticed that he finished it while listening in to James and Schuyler's little dispute. With nothing left to do, he got up and left the dinning hall. who knows, maybe he'll run into Schuyler on the way.

 

Diane saw Schuyler. "Schuyler!" She called. She had gotten lost and hoped that Schuyler knew ehre to go.

 

Ren patted the skeleton's head and laughed, "Kaila, this is Scraps. He's my dog. Scraps died my first year teaching, but a simple enchantment kept his soul alive in his bones. He's happy like this and I don't mind the lack of fur." He reached out and grabbed Kaila's hand, pulling her closer and setting her hand on Scraps' head. "He won't bite, I promise. He's a good boy."

"I'm sorry but you're not going anywhere." The man grabbed her arm and pulled her back onto the bench, keeping a tight grip on her. "You know where Zadkiel is. And you're going to tell me."

 

Not knowing how, Sora also managed to get lost in the acadamey. Looking around for any clues on how he got their, he found nothng. Looks like my only choice is to eep moving forward. He thought as he advance to where ever he was going and managed to find Schyuler and Dianne. Glad I'm not the only one who got lost.

 

kaila's face contorted as ren tried to pull her over to scraps. she looked almost as if she were about to throw up. she tried to fight it but knew ren would win out since he's stronger.
"isn't...isn't that against some sort of laws. he has passed, but you're keeping his soul alive?"
she touched the skeletal dog's head, cringing.

tori's eyes flew open wide and her wrist hurt as the man pulled her back down onto the bench.
"no i don't! i have no idea who this zadkiel person is. i haven't spoken to anyone but the teachers since i've been here. school's only been in session for a day. i can't help you."
she sat there hoping that the man would believe him.

schuyler was still angry when diane had approached. seeing her actually made her more angry, but tried to let it dissipate once sora had walked over.
"hey..."
she just really wanted to be alone.

 

"What's wrong? You look miffed." she asked her new friend.

James went to his room and layed down.

 

"Hey." Sora replied to Schulyer. It was obivous that she was still upset about what had happend between her and James. His best option at the moment was to try and not upset her any further.

 

Ren released her and frowned, "Why would you ask...oh...." he trailed off and lifted Scraps to his face, staring into his hollow eyes, "Would you have me be alone for eternity, Kaila? Scraps...is the only thing around me that has never and can never be swayed by the temptations of the Dark Court. And....when I am...he's there for me. Undead pets...they're frowned upon but not illegal. Were he to hurt someone, he'd become seen as a pet of the Dark...and I'd have to get rid of him." His yellow eyes darkened as he set Scraps inside the black box and the little dog fell apart. Sliding the cover on, Ren shrank the box and stared at it. "What would you have me do? No angel alive would willingly take me as their mate...Dark Court angels are cruel...Winter Court angels are cold, High Court angels are...stiff and Summer Court are too bright for me. Solitary angels are no better...they look for personal gain and there is none in me."

Kiel's voice interrupted whatever the man was going to say and his green eyes lit up, "You little liar. I really hate liars." "Tori! You out here?! For what it's worth, I'm sorry!"

 

kaila walked over to ren's clothes and felt them. they were now dry and she grabbed them off of the mantle tossing over to ren.
"here. you can leave now."
she was hurt by ren's words, but wasn't going to show it. now all she wanted was to be alone. like the original purpose of why she was headed up to her room for the night.
i'm not looking for any personal gain...not now...nor ever...

tori twisted her wrist to try and get it free from the man.
"kiel, we'll talk later! i'll see you inside!"
she was trying to hide the worry in her voice. whoever this man was, meant trouble. she wasn't mad at kiel, she just didn't want to go to the village and wasn't going to bring him harm. this man had obviously meant to do kiel harm or he wouldn't have been restraining her. he would have let her go when she got up to leave, not grab her wrist and sit her back down.

schuyler sighed and rubbed her forehead.
"no...no i'm fine."
she stood there with one hand rubbing her forehead and the other arm crossing her chest and holding her arm up. schuyler was starting to get a migraine and just wanted to lie down. she turned to acknowledge sora's presence.
"hey. i'm schuyler. you are?"

 

"Sora, nice to meet you." Replied. Before turning to Diane. He figured this must be James sister since she was always hanging out with Schyuler.

 

Ren tossed aside the robe without a care. His mind was elsewhere as he pulled on his boxers and pants. "There was one...an independent angel...she...was different than the others in the Dark Court. Though she said she was with Sitnah...she neve pledged alliegence... I wish I could remember her name..." He fumbled with the buckles on his pants and when he finally pulled them tight, Ren lifted his shirt, which was torn from when he's wrapped parts of it around Kiel's wounds. He sighed and tossed his shirt into the fire. "I can't believe what an idiot I've been...."

Kiel left his wheelchair and stumbled into the rain. "Tori! Where are you?! I think we should talk about this!" The man's grin grew wider, "Why don't we invite him into this nice little chat? What do you say Tori? He obviously wants to talk to you, why should you push him away? Don't you like him? Isn't he lovely? Don't you desire to have him? C'mon Tori, look deep inside you."

 

kaila sighed. it's obvious he wasn't going to put two and two together and now she was starting to grow weary. kaila yawned. there was now only one way to make ren leave. normally she would give anything to have him around, but now all she could think about was having him leave. ren was a selfish person at times, and it never seemed like he noticed it.
"i'm sure it'll come to you later ren."
she yawned again.
"goodnight ren."

tori slowly started to panic and shook her head no.
"no! kiel i'll talk to you later! i'm in the middle of something right now. go back inside. i'm sure the nurse and the professor are wondering what is taking so long for you to get back! i'll see you in the infirmary in a little bit!"
she was hoping kiel would listen. even if it upset him, she could apologize later. she just didn't want him to find her right then. this guy meant trouble and the last thing he needed was more trouble. kiel was in no shape for a fight.

schuyler tried to smile even through the pain of the oncoming migraine.

 

Ren snapped his mouth shut and tucked his wings against his back. "I'll see you in the morning then." Picking himself up, Ren softly shut her door behind him as he left. He shivered in the hallway and patted the little box with Scraps in it. We'll leave her be for now. Enan wants her and I'm not going to allow that. Even if she seems to belong in the Winter Court...she won't ever agree. Pounding on his head, Ren worked the last of the melted water out of his ear and mournfully returned to his room. Soon...by decree of Sitnah and the Dark Court, he'd have to go into town to feed on the emotions of humans. Not just moonlight sustained him anymore and since he refused to feed from Kaila, Ren was starving.

Kiel gritted his teeth. In the middle of something? That's ridiculous. "What the hell could you be doing out in the rain?! This is getting annoy--" he stopped as they came into view. Water dripped into his eyes from his hair as he stared at the man holding onto Tori, "Is there...something you want to explain?"

The man grinned a sharp smile, his green eyes glittering, "You must be Zadkiel. I'm Kadaj. You will follow my orders and jump off the cliff at the end of the forest and die in the ocean." He waited and when Kiel didn't move and a rather unpleasant expression settled on his face, Kadaj stood, "What're you waiting for? Go...Die." Kiel's fist met Kadaj's jawbone in an instant after he'd closed his mouth and Kadaj fell to the ground. "You are some twisted psychopath. I'm not gonna just go kill myself cause you say so, idiot. I like my life, thank you very much." Kadaj picked himself up slowly from the muddy ground, rubbing his jaw. "Nephilim...you'll pay for that!"
