Yves smiled down at her, "Yes...it's time I return to the Lifestream. I am tired...and my body grows old and weary. Angels live a long time, Tori, but I have been around for thousands of years... It is a temporary solution. If our Father does not accept our choice, I will have to return." he sounded sad but brushed away his emotion and gently led her towards the Serpent, "Creatures of the Dark will give you a wide berth with this on. And their suggestive powers will not affect you. Try it, stare into it's eyes...Kyrios, let him speak."

Kyrios shrugged and the bright yellow snake slithered out of the Serpent's mouth. The Serpent gasped and hissed, glaring at Tori, "Go and eat the blood red berries in your home forest, you dirty pureblood!" It's red eyes grew intense with a dark magic.

Sanya returned Kaila's smile and frowned at Enan, "Forgive me for saying so, but that's dumb. Humans don't like angels. We're too odd for them to handle. Their puny minds can't wrap around the fact that holy beings exist."

Enan chuckled, "That is true, young Sanya. Which is why, your classes will now be focused on magic that will conceal your wings and heavenly light. There is a human waiting for each of you that is targeted by the Dark for some reason. Otherwise, we would not ask this of you."

Kallai set a warm hand on Schuyler's head, "Don't be scared. Humans will change their minds often but a loyalty made to an angel is forever. One human, that's all you need. If you are frightened I shall introduce you to a few of the Summer Girls to boost your moral."

 

kaila turned to enan angrily.
"by concealing their wings and holiness is not changing anything. we have all been prejudiced for centuries by the humans for being different, concealing theirselves will not help the problem. it only inhibits the humans to further misunderstand them. plus if these humans are targeted by the dark and waiting for the students then they should be well aware of who protecting them and the students should have no reason to change who they are. it's wrong and not teaching them that being born this way is a blessing and not a curse."
she crossed her arms and held her ground. kaila knew she would be severely reprimanded for her actions, but knew somebody had to speak up about it. that somebody was her.

tori was confused. lifestream...choice...
"stare...stare...stare into it's eyes?"
she approached the large serpent hesitantly. tori had never been called a pureblood in such a derogatory manner before.
"excuse me? you're just jealous that i'm not about to die. and just so you know, i will never eat those poison berries. that mistake was made only once."

schuyler raised an eyebrow in curiosity.
"summer girls?"

 

Enan shut his mouth and glared coldly at Kaila, "You would do well to remember your place, Kaila. The students will be less judged if they hide what makes them holy. Imagine...a human suddenly befriending an angel overnight? It would be strange. These humans are different. They either don't believe at all or they believe too much in our Father and his children. These humans will not question that their new friend is an angel. Your prediction is wrong, Kaila."

Kallai nodded, "Yes, they are mortals bound to the Summer Court of their own volition by another angel. They serve us and they worship us, but they are very much free. I shall show you tomorrow."

The Serpent lowered it's head as if to strike out at Tori. "Filthy Pureblood...your magic does not work on all of the fledglings, Seraph."
Yves dragged another first year over towards the Serpent and made her do the same. The same thing was spoken and the fledgling nodded and started towards the forest. Grabbing her collar, Yves set a hand on her head, "That won't be necessary. You see, Tori? The creatures of the Dark have suggestive dark magic. Any human, or angel in eye contact with their foulness will obey their orders without hesitation if they are not bound to a Court."

 

kaila sighed. he didn't understand. the only reason they wouldn't be judged was because they were disguising themselves. not being true to themselves was only going to make things harder for them as they grow. she crossed her arms in defeat. fighting the seraphim would only prove pointless and tiring.
"yes sir."
kaila hated admitting defeat, especially towards them.

schuyler's face lit up excitedly.
"i would love to meet them tomorrow."
she couldn't wait to meet them all. coming to this school was a great choice; schuyler just wished she could find her brother. the fact that she hasn't been able to find him really scared her. what if something happened to him.

tori nodded nervously. the fact that a creature like this could so easily influence people was quite terrifying. that girl had no clue what she was doing let alone thinking.

 

Kyrios set a pale hand on the Serpent's head and slid two fingers under it's upper lip. Yanking back it's head, mouth gaping wide open, the yellow snake slithered back inside the Serpent. It's long fangs pierced into its black heart and tore into it.

Yves covered Tori's eyes before Kyrios' snake moved. "Was that necessary, Sitnah? There are children around." His brother gave him a shrug and let his yellow snake slither up his arm, disappearing under his cloak.

Uriel shifted through the students and guided them back inside. "Alright...showing is over. This has taken longer than expected...proceed to the dining hall for dinner....the rest of the day is yours. Seraphim, if you would please...follow me?" She waited for their nods and resumed guiding the students back inside as the rain finally let up.

although yves covered her eyes, it was too late. tori had already seen too much and was thoroughly disgusted. it made her lose her appetite for dinner. tori threw up a little bit in her mouth as she finally headed to the dining hall for dinner. the only real good thing that had come out of today was the fact that they missed a bunch of classes and would be able to skip the rest of their evening classes. she planned on checking on kiel after dinner to see how he was.

schuyler excitedly headed to dinner. she couldn't wait for another wonderous meal that the school had provided them with. she promised herself that she would find warren by dinner and if that didn't happen a whole knew meaning would come about from all hell breaking loose.

kaila was pleased that all this showiness from the seraphim had finally come to an end. she wasn't even hungry, just wanted to head to her office and hide away for the night. she would be fine waiting til morning and eating breakfast. that was no big deal. kaila was curious as to what uriel had to discuss with the seraphim, but in all honesty couldn't care less. she started to head in the direction of her classroom where her office and living quarters were.

 

"What's wrong?" Diane asked.

ooc: Happy Thanksgiving!

Lets see. The Seraphim called all the students out into the back courtyard and Kaila was attacked in her own medow in the forest by a creature from the Dark. Sanya showed her true colors and Kiel and Schuyler were injured by another creature of the Dark. The Summer Court has claimed Schuyler and the High Court placed claim on Kiel's unconscious body. The Winter Court displayed it's first sensation of interest in Kaila as the Seraph of the Dark Court inerrogated and killed the creature of the Dark, the Serpent. The Seraphim have revealed their intention: to find a replacement for the High Court Seraph and to keep selective humans safe from the Dark. Classes are cancled for the rest of the day after dinner.

Kiel groaned, his back was in agony. "Geez...did I get hit by a bus?" A nurse with small white wings giggled, "No, sweetie, but you did get hit by a nasty Slayer. I'll take care of you."

Sanya skipped happily with Tori to dinner.

Enan chucked his cloak around a figure of ice he created and silently followed Kaila. How odd... Females...I'll never understand how their minds work. Why would she be so against the students meeting humans and consorting with them? Angels and humans won't breed ever...especially if Sanya does her job correctly. "Kaila, wait."

 

tori looked over awkwardly at sanya who was skipping alongside her. they had not spoken to each other, but yet they were walking together. she tried to ignore it and continued on to the dining hall.

kaila stopped to look over her shoulder and see who had called for her. after seeing that it was enan behind her, kaila rolled her eyes and turned around to face him.
"yes your holiness?"
she didn't want to be any more a part of this and put up with the seraphim. all she wanted was to go back to her room and hide out until the net days lessons.

 

Kiel struggled against the Nurse's warm hands. "Schuyler...is she alright? Where's Miss Logos?! Is everyone okay?" She pushed him back against the bed and ended up tying his arms and legs down. "Stay put."

Under his cloak of white and shimmering blue, Enan wore a white suit that was rather in tatters. His white hair fell into his eyes and he resembled a student barely older than 19. "You don't have to call me that. You seem disappointed. Were you hoping Ren would chase after you?" Obviously he couldn't control his mouth. Making a pained face, Enan sighed, "Is there some reason you don't believe students can consort with humans? Even with all the precautions set in place? Perhpas you've been listening to far too many lectues of Ren's about Nephilim." Enan's icy blue eyes slid from Kaila's face to the floor. "None of us wish to revisit the Uprising of the Nephilim again... Which is why I need your help. With this test, perhaps I can find a way to successfully breed the human out of one of the first-year students."

 

kaila looked at him confused.
"are you referring to that wingless student? the one that is supposed to family to gabriel? no enan i'm not referring to the nephilim incident. i know it's been a long time since you had to interact with humans that weren't a part of your court that worshiped you so i'll understand if you don't. many of these students have grown up around humans. humans are cruel insensitive beings that don't know their place in the world. they mock the students, calling them names and causing physical harm to them. we're angels but we're treated like freaks and having the students disguise themselves isn't fixing the problem. it's just giving the humans what they want. which is for us to be gone. they don't want us here. so why has Father forced us to come back. which is why i must decline your wish for me to assist in your experiment. i know i most likely don't have an actual choice in whether or not i have to participate in the test, but i am turning you down enan. i refuse to have anything more to do with you seraphim. none of this has to do with ren by the way. ren did follow me, or were you blinded of that image earlier when he went into the woods after me? but as i said it has nothing to do with him. i'm moving past that. tired of chasing something will never happen. it's cute to tease him, but there won't be any of that anymore. anything else enan? i've had a long day and would like to head to bed."
she sighed and rubbed her temples. it was hard to play coy with a being that wasn't even allowed to have relationships.

schuyler took a seat at a table towards the front of the dining hall and waved at diane when she came walking in.
"hey! diane i'm over here!"

tori sat down in an empty seat towards the back. she was hoping that rude boy from class that morning wouldn't manage to find her. seeing him was only going to make this day worse.

 

Enan sighed, combing his hands through his white hair. "You're right...you're right. I'll let you go then..."

Ren struggled against an ice soldier. It's frozen limbs wrapped around his body. "G-get off!" One wing flapped relentlessly and the other dangled uselessly by his side. Half of Ren's body was covered in frost bite and ice crept over his clothes. One hand reached for Kaila's doorhandle. If he could just crack the door open..."Kaila...." a half-whisper slipped from his blue lips.

Genesis plopped down beside Tori, "Hey! Nice to see you again. Lot of commotion outside, yeah?" he gave her a hoping smile. Wanting her to at least say something. Anything.

 

kaila gave enan a half smile.
"until next time?"
she turned away to head back inside and to bed.
kaila wandered through the hallways towards her classroom. when she came around the corner to her classroom she froze. the sight in front of her was chilling--both physically and metaphorically. she conjured a flame that resembled a whip and whacked the ice soldier on the back of the neck. then recoiled the whip and struck again wrapping it around the soldiers waist. kaila held the flame there until the soldier melted into a puddle of water. she ran over to ren, kicking the puddle around so that the soldier couldn't reform.
"ren!"
kaila opened the door to the classroom and helped ren up. she wrapped an arm around his waist and grabbed his arm, dragging him to her bedroom behind her back office. she set him down in a chair and went to grab a blanket to toss on him.

tori put her arm on the table and rested her head in the palm of her hand.
"yeah...i guess. what do you want?"
she glanced over at him rolling her eyes.

 

Ren made a series of odd little noises that sounded like panting and a combination of words. The wound in his leg throbbed against the ice. "I'm....s...s..." giving up on the word, Ren let out a shuddering breath. His left midnight blue wing dangled over the side of the chair. Feathers clumped together in chunks of ice. Along with his left wing, the same arm sat on his lap, completely frozen over in a thin layer of ice that was melting slowly from the warmth of Kaila's room. He would've preferred the unusual warmth of his own room. For once the rumors were true and the "oh so sexy professor Ren" slept in not a scrap of clothing. His yellow eyes cracked open and stiff fingers snatched at Kaila's retreating form. "K-Kaila....I'm s-s-so...s...s...s..." Giving up again, Ren's yellow eyes slid shut and his head fell back against the chair, his mouth falling open in the process. His breath came out in a chilled fog instead of a puff of warm air. Ice glittered down his throat, lightly lining the inside of his mouth and throat. Something in his pocket rattled. It sounded like bones in a shoe box.
Separating itself from Ren's pocket, a small black box grew until it resembled a shoe box and dropped onto the floor beside Ren's feet.

Genesis grinned, "Ah I knew she had a tongue! I just want a little friendly chatter with dinner. Since your big, scary bodyguard isn't here...I thought I'd get a few words in edge-wise." A girl on the other side of the table snorted, her fork poised above her plate filled with jell-o. "As if...everyone knows Zadkiel isn't the talkative type." The girl had blonde hair and a single streak of pink running down the side of her hair. "The only people he's ever spoken to really are Tori and what's her name? Schuyler?" She shot a glance at her friend wearing big round glasses with green hair tied up in two ponytails. With a single nod the girls shrugged and went back to their food. Genesis shot them a glare of pure hatred. "Hm, I don't remember having this conversation with a bunch of slobs like you! How about you keep to your sweets and out of my buisness." Genesis watched Sanya Logos gently set her plate down beside the girls and poke at her food much like a child would with something she didn't want to eat. Genesis' smile went wide and fierce, "Ah, say what you want ladies, but it wouldn't do you any good to talk smack about Kiel. Saying such awful things, you should be ashamed of yourselves." He watched as Sanay's golden eyes lifted from her plate briefly. "Please don't talk badly about Zadkiel....he's a good boy. Just like his father." The girls jumped when her golden eyes slid to them in a disapproving look. "No, Professor! We didn't say anything bad about him! It was Genesis!" She stuck her finger out at him and nearly everyone was now looking at their table. "Pointing fingers? How rude and unlady-like. You girls should go back to boarding school."

 

kaila looked at the black box suspiciously. not being a curious person, she picked it up and set it on the end table by the chair. she knew what ren wanted to say, but figured it could wait until he was in a state for talking. she started a fire in the hearth and went to gather a few more blankets. it was going to take a while for him to thaw out. he would be lucky not to loose any limbs from how bad his frost bite is. fortunately he hadn't been frozen for too long, but he was still in rough shape. she summoned a small amount of heat to her hands and ran her fingers along his cheek and through his hair. as the ice melted she watched the water trickle down his face. kaila gently rubbed her hands on his wings to help thaw them out. it felt strange having ren in her room. he had never come to visit her their in all their years working together and now that he was there she felt butterflies in her stomach. her entire body tingled. she was nervous and excited at the same time. kaila could tell ren would be out for quite some time, so she put on some music and decided to walk down to the dining hall and get a plate full of food. he would be hungry when he woke up and it wouldn't hurt her to eat as well, even though she originally planned to skip dinner. she gave him a kiss on the cheek and walked out of the room.
"sleep tight."

tori rolled her eyes as she dipped her spoon into a bowl of soup with her free hand.
"these girls here didn't say anything bad about kiel. it was this loser i have the pleasure of sitting next to. what was it again? ugene? no...that doesn't sound right. oh well. that's your new name."
she had a thick tone of sarcasm in her voice as she stood up.
"i'm done eating. professor what direction is the infirmary in? i would like to go visit...a friend."

 

Sanya wiped her mouth and cast a look full of disdain towards Genesis. "I don't like you. And if I don't...Sitnah won't either. You're not fit for the Dark Court. You belong with Bananach and her band of freaks....or Kadaj." It was as if Sanya had shouted a curse word in the middle of the dining hall. All the teachers froze and stared at her. Uriel, especially, with a grieving look. Standing abruptly, which wasn't much of a dramatic gesture, Sanya grabbed Tori's arm and hauled her out the door of the dining hall. "It's this way....I'll show you. I want to see him too."

Ren's black box rumbled until it fell from the table and spilled it's contents on the floor. Little bones cluttered on the carpet. Each of them shuddered for a moment and connected, forming a small skeleton dog. Rrrrr-arf Arf! It circled and padded under Kaila's bed.

 

kaila entered the dining hall as sanya and tori were shuffling out. she noticed the look on uriel's face and decided to walk over to her.
"something the matter my queen?"
she raised an eyebrow in a joking matter as she placed a few food items on a plate.
i have no idea what he would want to eat.
she sighed as she grabbed a few more things. the plate was pretty full when kaila decided to grab something to drink for herself and ren. she picked up a glass of wine and a cup of coffee. ren would need the warm pick-me-up when he awoke.

tori allowed herself to be drug away by sanya.
"goodbye ugene."
as they left tori turned to look at her.
"what on earth was that about?"

 

Uriel cast her eyes heavenward and sighed, "There's a lot of things wrong with today. I'd tell you...Kaila but it's really not my place. No one other than I know...it's Sanya's to tell. Trust me, it's not life threatening. Oh! Who's all that food for? Surely you're not that hungry...are you?" Uriel's blue eyes widened in an old look that she hadn't had since she was a student herself. Curiosity. "Speaking of hungry...where is Ren? He's probably half-starved himself already. That boy...he better not be goofing off prying at Amittai to give him an old book." She smiled, the humor in her words pure and unknowing.

Sanya wiped frantically at the tears in her eyes. "I'm sorry. I hate guys like him...which makes it all the more funny... That Kadaj...He would mean so much to me. Ah, but listen to me ramble. We're going to see Kiel. He's a good boy. And I like him." She smiled and pushed open a large set of doors. The only doors that didn't have windows set in them. Kiel was wrestling with the Nurse, trying to get out of bed even though he was covered in sweat. He kept grabbing for his shirt, lying a few feet away on a table. "C'mon! This isn't fair, I'm hungry too! What about Tori!? And what the Hell is this thing?" he pointed dramatically at the light blue ribbon on his upper arm. "Get it off!" The Nurse slapped his hands away from it and glared at him. "It's a gift from Seraph Amittai. You should be grateful." Kiel rolled his eyes, "Oh, a gift, huh? Whaddya know, it's a gift from a Seraph. Geewiz, hope I'm not in debt to him for a ribbon. What's next, the guy just GIVES me a car and a wad of cash? Yeah right, sister. I ain't buyin' none of that stuff."

 

kaila smiled at that last bit.
"oh no, no, no. i'm not nearly this hungry, and even if i was i still don't think i would eat this much food. no ren was attack by an ice soldier just outside my classroom. to think people are being attacked from within the school now is just preposterous. he's asleep in a chair in my den thawing out. he was already quite frozen by the time i found him. don't worry i took care of the ice soldier. originally i didn't plan on getting food, but once ren was attacked i decided to walk down here since he'll be hungry when he wakes."
she lifted the plate with one hand and slid the wine glass between two fingers as she picked up the coffee mug.

tori ran over to kiel.
"what on earth do you think you're doing?"
she slammed him back down onto the bed.
"do you have any idea how many poisonous stingers were in your back? you need to relax. i'm sure someone can bring you food."
tori grabbed a towel and wiped away the sweat on kiel's forehead and then looked down at the ribbon on her wrist.
"we match now."
she held out her arm to show the matching ribbons.

 

"Hey!" She said. She ran over to Schyuler. "I Heard you got attacked! Are you ok?"
