Most have probably already heard but still.

Whinehouse was found dead earlier at her London flat. Police are still treating her death as unknown.

It was only earlier this week Amy was with her goddaughter at the iTunes festival..Geez yet another celebrity. Still I think this news shouldn't overshadow the tragedy that happened in Norway. Of course it's awful that another good singer died but still 91 people died yesterday in the attacks, some are still missing.

I wasn't really a fan of Amy but may she rest in peace.

While this wasn't really unexpected, and absolutely does not compare to the tragedy in Norway, I was still sad to hear about this. I wasn't a huge fan of her's, but she was undeniably talented, and it's awful to see that talent go to waste.

    RIP Amy

Couldn't care less to be honest, didn't find her interesting or anything. Imo her music was less than mediocre. Also, she was a dopehead.

I agree that although this news isn't particularly shocking, it's still sad to hear. My sister is a big fan of hers, don't know how she's going to react. An unfortunate waste of brilliant talent. May she rest in peace.

That's too bad. It's a shame didn't care about herself enough to take better care of her body. I do have some sympathy for people like that.

As with some people here, I dislike her music, but its still a person dying. She needed to take better care of herself, and that's the problem that affects a lot of people. I'm sad for her family, and I know she'll be missed.

I was really sad when I found out, I'm not a big fan of her music and it saddens me to hear about how she got "arrested again for doing drugs" or something along those lines. At the moment I'm curious if the same thing that happened to Michael Jackson will happen to her- as soon as she dies everyone loves her music.

    May she rest in peace.

May she rest in peace. It's always sad to hear of someone as young as 27 die, even if it wasn't entirely unexpected...

She was hooked on drugs at a fairly young age, and tried to get into music to make her life better, she was generally considered new and fresh as well as well respected musician at the start of her career. She got the money from her first hit, used it to take drugs the respect for her music in the mainstream almost dried up, she tried rehabilitation to get off the drugs from recommendations from other people, did so but went back to drugs yet again in her lie, she had family and friends that tried to help her, but in the end she still took the drugs and died from them.

I can't really feel sorry her at all. She wasted her life, and each time she was offered another chance she just went back to drugs. Can't feel sorry for her or saddened by her death. It was coming and people just didn't realise when. She squandered a gift many dream to have. What a waste.

You know, we can't judge one's life, surely you do have a point, but you never know how one's emotions and brain works and what they've been through. I am not sayin this as an excuse but sometimes things happen in your life that..., no matter how you try you end up *****d up as she did.

We all have to deal with **** in our lives, sometimes just for a little while, whilst others affect us for the rest of our lives, I know i've had to will have to deal with these problems.
And perosnally I believe that if people want to have a celebrity status with all the money and fame it brings they also have of deal with being seen by the whole world, and as such judged by it as well. If you want to be judged well you will do good things, open charities or donate to them, help the poor or unfortunate. Winehouse simply spent her money on herself, and those people she wanted to give money. She was bettering the world, she was singing for money. She will be judged by that.
It's just that Winehouse had the opprtunity to stop her drug addiction numerous times in her life. It's not like she didn't have a choice, or didn't have help, or care. She knew what it was doing to her, how it would affect her but she picked not to fight it. It was her choice, no doubt, and it's not one I would respect.

I'm not one of those people who simply respects the dead because they are dead, but because of how they lived they're life. I respect pious, philanthropists or great discoverers, writers, philosophers, musicians, painters, inventorers and such. I doubt Amy has earned such respect with the actions she ashas caused. Her death where I live is almost being likened to when Michael Jackson died. She was no Michael Jackson.

As i said, you can't judge one's life. She was a public figure sure, but we know what, 1% of her life? Did anyone of those people all around the world knows how she was in person, or what lead her to that choices? Do we know how she acted with her friends and family? No. I'm not trying to defend her here but judging without knowing a person...

This is nothing more than a publicity thing and we all know it. If one wants to help those in any kind of need will do so without the need of showing off. How do you know that she never helped anyone in her life?

Yes, very sad. I listened to her almost everyday. And yes, very unfortunate for the years of frequent abuse.

Alright, here's what I have to say about this whole thing. Yes, it's sad. She was only 27. That's much too young to be dead at.

The thing that's ruffling my feathers the most is those who are saying that her death is not tragic.

    Yes. It is.

If she was using drugs and other substances, cutting herself, among other things, that's tragic because she was damaging herself. If she was offered psychiatric help to control those urges to be destructive to her own body, and she refused, that's tragic as well. If she was offered the help, she accepted but it didn't help her at all, that's tragic too. The whole thing is tragic because really no matter how you look at it, a young life was cut short and endless talent was never truly realized before it was too late to try and save it.

    Just my two cents.

I heard on the radio that someone called in and said 'What happened to Amy Winehouse was a lifestyle choice. What happened to Norway was a tragedy."
As if comparing the two were justifiable. Let's not even get to the whole 'choice' part of addiction.
Though I do think she could have avoided it, it's still a tragedy. Russel Brandt wrote a letter about it and it was pretty tear-jerking.

98 people died on an Island off the coast of Norway with bodies still missing, and 100 seriously injured in the process on top of a building being blown sky high by the same guy in Oslo, all of the people involved in which were innocent. And then some narcissistic sociopath goes and kills herself by overdosing on drugs and people all start mourning. She died because she was stupid, she doesn't deserve any respect in death. The only people who deserve respect are those humbled by it, she wasn't and now she can rot in hell.
