Video AMV Help Thread

Yeah, it does that. It gets frustrating when it freezes every five minutes. That's why you have to make sure you save every now and then.

Don't worry, the freezing up part is normal. It seems to happen more likely when you import a lot of source vids into WMM. The more you have, the more likely it'll freeze up. The same rule applies depending on how detailed the video is.

It's hard, but with enough persistence and effort, you'll finally finish it! ;)

 

Indeed, Windows Movie maker is isuued with countless flaws. I would suggest only using .wmv files, for DivX and other .avi formats tend to lock WMM up a lot. The quality shouldn't matter, just the file types and whether or not WMM wants to make things easy for you. xD

Oh, THAT'S why it freezes up? Because it's not a .wmv format? That explains a lot. I usually use the KH cutscenes from...that...other...site. :sweatdrop: And all of their clips are .avi formats.

Well, that's one mystery that's been cleared up. :)

 

Well I'm not saying that's always the reason WMM is having issues, but I've noticed it seems to run more smoothly when you are only using one particular format (like I said, .wmv seems to run best).DivX codec screws with Wmm often too... so yeah, it can be a royal pain sometimes.

I've learned to save the project for every single clip I add. >.< Though, right now, it's running smoothly. And I'm pretty sure my files are all wmv.

What??? I finally finished my video, and I tried to upload it to Youtube, then it was processing it, and now it says "Failed (invalid file format)". Why is that?

Youtube says my file was a .MSWMM file, by the way. I don't know what that means, or how to make it a valid format. xP

Nevermind, I figured it all out. I found out how to save it as a .wmv file.​

 

Alright.. So I have a question:

Is there a reverse/rewind effect I could get for WMM?? I'm working on an AMV and I want to reverse the clip of Kairi turning around in the end of KH1 when she is seperated from Sora and the Islands come back. I was wondering if there is some kind of effect I can get for that. I really want to do it because it'll work with the song. Any ideas? Or can you give me a link to a free download of a software that will do that??

Can we have, like, a judging thread. As in AMVs from amatures, (Like meh) where we could get yeas and Nays from our videos, and tips? Expecially for us WMM peeples.

 

Well if you go to the competision section a lot of people have AMV competitions there. Such as the Axelrific AMV competetion thing. That's probably the most popular one. Or you go even make your own there

How do you import an unfinished AMV to Sony Vegas? I'm trying to take my new AMV and put it in Sony Vegas so I can finish it. But it's not working. Any help? Do I have to switch the file to a .wmv file or something?

 

Yeah...Instead of importing the project file, save what you have done as a .WMV and import that.

 

I've tried to figure out how to do that several times. But I can't seem to get it. How do you do it?

 

Go to File > Save Movie File, then just pick your settings and save.

ello, I finally made my first AMV :clap: but it wont work :cry: , i tried to upload it onto youtube and it sais the same thing that Exile said:

Public/(invalid file format), so my AMV was made from Windows Movie Maker, and im guessing that it is saved in default format of .mswmm, and im guessing you need to get it to a .wmw or i think that is it. Anyways, I lookde at the other posts here about turning it to a .wmw and you say to go to
File> Save Movie File. Ok so I guessed that you then click save to website host, so i then went, made an account to Myedo, and sent it there. Then when i tried to watch it it kept saying Please Try Again, and plus, how do i get it from there to youtube or here? Do I not click send to Video Host Provider, did i choose the wrong host? HELP PLZ

 

You're supposed to save it onto your hard drive first as a .wmv. And THEN upload it to YouTube. Video Host Provider makes it a bit more complicated than it really is. :huh:

quick question how do you put music into an AMV becuase i can never get them in and when i looked at the first post it didn't tell me how.

 

Okay I have a quick question.
Okai in sony vegas 8 for some reason now the cursor thing isn't working. Because usually when I start to make a clip longer or shorter it will show the parts that are being added on or deleated. But for some reason the cursor won't move to the spot where I'm changing the clip.
I know yesterday I was kinda messing witht eh settings to do something so I think I just clicked something to do it. So if anyone knows what I need to do to fix it please tell me :D
