"Well, the concert's all but over. You want to walk or do you have a faster means?"

Nikki had her cloak with her, but did not want to tell anyone what it was. Mr Wheeler had seen her use the cloak to spread night, and thus knew she could in effect fly. She had never tried carrying anyone though so did not know if she could take Zaris as well. Anyway the cloak was for her duty, and she did not know if misuse of the cloak would cause chaos, as she would effectively start the night again.

'Oh Jon, I hope you're safe.'

 

''lets go the air is filled with dark aura........theres a disturbence in the force...''

 

"Ok Zaris, I can see what you're getting at bro."

Nikki cast her darkness around them, so no one would notice their passing. Human and god alike would not notice them. She grabbed Zaris's arm and walked out.

"Luckily it's not far."

''too bad we had 2 cut the concert short it was just getting good , do u kno wat these hunters look like?''

 

"The only one I've managed to get any sense of so far is the solar god, but they know there are 3 old gods in LA and so it will be open season. There are supposed to be hundreds coming here for the meeting tomorrow. I have that information from a good source, who wishes us no evil."

 

Mr. Wheeler stepped into the parking Garage.

"So you're just a messsenger for her? Putting me on her radar? Fair enough."

Mr. Wheeler wasn't sure whether he could belive his loudly dressed friend. If he knew her, she was quite capable of finding him herself. What was she planning? was she playing with him before she delivered the final blow? or was she trying to intimidate him into doing something?

Mr. Wheeler got to his prius.

"This is my car" he said as he unlocked it.

 

''take us to wheeler its better if the 3 of us teamed up''

 

"I can't. The solar god is with Mr. Wheeler at the moment. I don't think they're friends. If we turn up then we may put him in danger.."

 

"Messenger? No. Radar putter-back-onner? Yes. You found one of the few restaurants that She did not have an outpost in. And this close to the meeting with old gods in the city, and especially in your case Mr. Wheeler, she does not trust you (not that she trusts anyone)."

Saule looked at Mr. Wheeler's Prius. Although it was not as clean as solar power it was certain; it was cleaner than most things on the road.

"Nice car." Saule commented, and circled around to the passenger side placing solar panels in each of the wheel holes he passed.

 

"Thanks."

Mr. Wheeler knew that she didn't trust him. She hadn't trusted him for a long time. Mr. WHeeler listened to the click of the solar panels go into his car. Subtle, Mr. Wheeler thought with a grin. He got in his car, and acted like it didn't happen.

"The regina, right? I don't think i know where that is. What's the address? I can put it into the computer in my car and get directions."

 

Saule got into the car, and before even closing the door, he reclined the seat, moved it as far back as possible, and adjusted the headrest. He then closed the door and put on his seat belt.

"The Regina is not on any traditional maps. So, unless this car is somehow as special as we are I will have to give you directions. Just head toward Pasadena for now."

 

Mr. Wheeler grinned as the seat belt clicked into place. "Oh. I think i may know where it is now. I may have been there once or twice before."

unless this car is somehow as special as we are , Mr. Wheeler said to himself in a mocking tone under his breath. He stroked his hand across the dashboard, and the car sprang to life.

"Take us to the regina," Mr. Wheeler screamed in a voice that sounded like the roar of an engine. To any one, human or god, his voice would have sounded like an indecipherable roar. But the car understood, and it knew where to go. That's what was important. It pulled out of the parking space, and headed towards the exit. The car drove as well, if not better, than any human possibly could.

Mr. Wheeler decided he was going to spite saule. So he put on the loudest thing he could find: Children of Bodom. He put on the album Hatebreeder and turned up the volume as loud as it could go.

 

Nikki urges Zaris to rush. She hated being this vulnerable. Ok, Zaris was a good fighter, and she could fight with shadows and darkness, but there were too many about. She concentrated and focused on Mr. Wheeler.

'Is he still with you? What is he?'

She looked at her younger 'brother'. He seemed serious at the moment, as if the gravity of the situation was all too real for him as well. Once they were home they could relax.

"Why don't we stop at the store and get you some rum?"

 

Mr. Wheeler heard the words in his head as the car pulled out of the garage.

"He's a messenger", Mr. Wheeler thought, hoping Nikkie could hear him. "He wasn't sent to kill me (at least not yet). I'm taking him to his hotel right now. As far as i can tell, i'm in no danger in the moment. Have you found Zaris?"

 

'Zaris is with me and safe. We will stay together for now. Are you safe?'

Nikki felt happier knowing Mr. Wheeler was safe. She knew she could get to him quickly, even though it would mess up time. She would also be in a lot of trouble with the most powerful old gods. Although not the weakest, she was far from the strongest. The death gods were more powerful than her, though she was stronger than Aries. She was in the happy position of being too powerful for the weaker upstart gods to take on, but not powerful enough for the higher gods to find threatening. However, such an abuse of her powers would attract the wrong attention. She would risk it for a friend.

 

Hearing the incredibly loud and incomprehensible, Saule sat up so fast that his sunglasses flew away from him and smashed on the dash, leaving Suale's eerie jet black eyes exposed. Also "Breaking the Habit" flew right out his head to be replaced with the mix of blackened power metal, melodic death metal, neo-classical metal, progressive metal, melodic black metal, power metal, speed metal, and thrash metal.

"GREAT NOW HOW CAN I BEEN SEEN AROUND HUMANS WITH MY EYES EXPOSED LIKE THIS!!?" Saule screamed over Mr. Wheeler's top notch sound system.

Saule looked over at Mr. Wheeler whose eyes seemed to be glazed over. He seemed to be very focused on something that Saule could not see or perhaps he was enjoying the music so much that he was incredibly focused on it. Either way it was pissing Suale off that Mr. Wheeler had no discomfort from the music.

Saule sent his strength into the solar panels on the car in an attempt to overload the sound system.

 

"I'm fine, Nikkie."

Mr. Wheeler suddenly was brought back to the real world. He looked at saule's eyes and smiled. "Luckily, i always keep a spare pair of shades in my car". Mr. Wheeler reached into the glove compartment jsut as the car turned onto the freeway. HE handed them to Saule.

"Oh, and by the way, if you're trying to kill the sound system with those solar panels, it won't work. This is my car, and i make the rules here."

"Now that i've got your attention, what music do you want to listen to?" Mr. Wheeler asked with a smug grin on his face.

 

Saule reached out, took the glasses, and put them on.

"THANKS!"

Saule saw Wheeler's lips move and a smug grin but did not hear anything over the metal.

"WHAT!? DID YOU SAY SOMETHING!?

 

Mr. Wheeler turned the volume down to a reasonable level.

"I said, What music do you want to listen to?"

"Oh, and by the way, Those solar panels you have won't work. THis is my car, and i make the rules."

 

Saule removed his hands from his ears not knowing when they even went up there.

"WELL I SUSPECTED as much!" saule realized that had yelled the first part of his sentence. "But I had to try putting them on the car. As for music do have anything by Bach, maybe on of his sonatas or Fat Bottomed Girls (I had no idea Bach wrote that until a friend showed me better."
