Mr. Wheeler felt stupid. He should have expected a reaction like that. By the same token, he did find it kind of funny watching Saule be the one to freak out, as opposed to him.

"Sorry. Didn't mean to offend you. But back on topic, that was what happened. We ate, we talked. Nothing else."

Saule hoped that he had not he had not estranged Mr. Wheeler, with his outburst, but that was the one thing that always set Saule off

"That is not as detailed an answer as I was hoping for." Saule said.

What he meant was: "I was hoping that you would say something that I could use to my advantage." but he did not say that.

"Are there anymore details you can remember?"

Saule, hoping that Mr. Wheeler would not remember that Saule had said earlier that he knew who Mr. Wheeler had meet with, added
"What was she the god of?"

Nikki had the strangest feeling that someone was talking about her. Mr. Wheeler and some stranger, who she had yet to meet, but not really someone she could trust. Another new god? She shuddered. She had caused no trouble, indeed she had helped Mr. Wheeler, and found it hard to believe he was betraying her. At present she was safest in a large crowd, so the concert was ideal. Zaris would probably fight with her if necessary, though she hated fighting. She concentrated and tried to focus on the stranger, He was bright, too bright for her, and she gave up before she had a headache from the light. Darn, a solar god! She couldn't have found a worse potential adversary. Nikki wished that this god could be reasonable like Mr. Wheeler, but highly doubted it. Her luck couldn't be that good, or could it?

Saule was testing Mr. Wheeler. It didn't take sherlock holmes to know that. He also knew that Nikkie trusted him, and Mr. Wheeler wasn't goign to break that trust so easily. Besides which, if he was her henchman, Saule knew exactly who he was with.

"Come to think of it, She never really mentioned it. I'd tell you if i knew though."

Nikki relaxed as she realised that she was probably worrying too much. Just kick back and enjoy the show. She sang, cheered and generally enjoyed herself. She had to admit grudgingly that Zaris had been right. She knew that she would have to get them home safely. This wouldn't be too hard as it was night and she controlled darkness, so she would hide them. She wished she could protect Mr. Wheeler as easily.

Saule realized he was not getting anywhere by asking Mr. Wheeler directly, so he decided to change the subject and try a more subtle approach, on a different front.

"Who do you think will show up tomorrow?"

"Couldn't say for sure. I would assume that she will be there, because she's the host. Most likely some of the oil gods will show up. One or two aquaintences of mine are sure to be there. A lot more gods, of course, will be there as well. Why do you ask?"

Mr. Wheeler wondered what Saule wanted to hear. At this point, Mr. Wheeler didn't care. He was done giving away information for the time being. And he REALLY didn't want to think about the meeting tommorrow.

Saule bit back a cringe at the mention of the oil gods, and hoped that Mr. Wheeler did not notice.

"I ask because She does not trust me that kind of sensitive information, to be honest. And" Saule leaned forward in a confiding manner, "I do not blame Her, I do not like Her that much."

Perhaps that little confession would convince Mr. Wheeler to trust him. Saule hoped that telling Mr. Wheeler the truth about his feelings toward his employer. He looked at it this way: if Mr. Wheeler believed his confession then Saule would have won his trust, but if Wheeler did not believe him then there was no harm done anyway.

"What do you think of the latest reports? I heard that two kitsune and a train god were killed in Dallas a few days ago. tensions certainly are high."

Saule liked small talk it gave him a chance to think. Not that this "talk" was necessarily "small," in the fighting that was going on was of great importance, but Saule did not really care about Mr. Wheeler's opinion.

Mr. Wheeler knew that Saule was telling the truth when he said he didn't like her- not many people did. That didn't change the fact that she was exteremely powerful, and exerted a great deal of control over the new gods. This also didn't change the fact that Mr. Wheeler didn't trust Saule. There was just something about him...

"What was the train god's name? I might have known him. One of my few 'friends' -if you could call them that- is a train god. "

"The train god in question was a her, and her name was Pacifia. I had only met her once, but she was alright. She was always one of the cleaner ones, and she was strong and proud even though the days of cattle ranching were long gone when I met her. I was glad to her she took some of them down with her."

Saule had lied about meeting her although he had heard what he said to be true. Saule wished to gain Mr. Wheeler's trust, and hoped that showing that he cared for someone would do that. Saule picked up the bottom fragment of his glass (which still had a little juice in it, amazingly enough) and raised it up.

    "Here's to her." he said

As the concert finished, Nikki sensed to see if Mr. Wheeler still had company. She was hit by blinding light again. Would this stranger never leave? She gritted her teeth and sensed for Mr Wheeler through the static. He was ok but on edge. She wondered how she was going to get Zaris to take a subtle route home. There were far too many new gods for her liking in the area. Though she wasn't looking to start a fight, she knew they would probably waste no time trying to kill her. Zaris seemed almost wreckless at times, though she had realised he actually showed responsibility for the safety of others. Nikki felt bad about Zaris, she had grossly misjudged him, and she admitted to herself that she actually liked him, like an annoying teenage brother. Not that she would openly admit that to him.

"To fallen gods. May they rest in peace."

As mr. Wheeler drank from his glass, he couldn't help but wonder about his guest. What did Saule want? why was he trying to make all of this small talk with him? ANd why did he feel it important to mention this railroad god's death?

Saule clicked his glass against Mr. Wheeler's breaking off another small piece. Saule found the least sharp place on the glass to drink from and did so. Saule looked outside, and thought, hating himself for being so cliche, It's been a long night.

"Who do you know personally that will be there tomorrow? Any friends we might have in common?"

"The only "friend" i have going to the meeting tommorrow is Known only as "The Commodore". He's a railroad god, and a powerful one. Other than that, there are other car gods going there that i will probably know. And of course, her and her flunkies."

MR. Wheeler looked at a clock on his wall. It was getting to be fairly late. HE was tired, and had a lot of work to do in the morning.

Saule could see that Mr. Wheeler was tired, and he was was tired too as a matter of fact. She had made him stay inside doing work most of the previous day and his power was fairly low at the moment. He also remembered that the oil gods might possibly be in town, and hated to admit but he was afraid of them. Saule would have to phase his next question carefully.

"I don't know the 'The Commodore,' but he sounds awesome. Listen, my hotel, the Regina, is all the way across town and the public transportation is shut down at this hour, so could you possibly give me a ride or let me crash on your couch?"

"He's one of the oldest and most powerful railroad gods. We've worked together in the past. ANyway, yeah, i'll give you a ride. just follow me to my car."

Mr. Wheeler didn't like the way Saule put emphasis on the word crash. But if he was planning something, Mr. Wheeler was curious to find out what it was so he could spring the trap. After all, if she sent saule to kill him, it would at least give him an excuse not to go to the meeting tommorrow.

Saule stood next to Mr. Wheeler in the elevator, trying and failing to whistle "Breaking the Habit" by Linkin Park which had somehow gotten stuck in his head while he was in Wheeler's apartment.

Saule looked at Mr. Wheeler who looked as though giving a ride to a person who had invaded his apartment and had a chance of having been sent to kill him was the last thing he wanted to at god-knows-what-hour o'clock. Hey, who wouldn't look that way?

Saule tried to put Mr. Wheeler's mind at ease.

"I was not sent to kill you. I was only sent to find out where you where. You had dropped completely off Her radar, and believe me, there are very few places in this city that are off Her radar."

The elevator came to the parking garage.

"I think we need to be very careful going home. There are hundreds of new gods about at the moment and we need to travel unnoticed. As it's night I can take us home and cloak us in darkness so we'll pass unseen. I was also thinking about Mr. Wheeler and Jon. Neither of them are safe at the moment. Jon has disappeared out of sight, so hopefully is safe. Mr. Wheeler has a rather nasty visitor at present, a solar god. We need to go home, where it's safe."
