am i a pedophile?

i am confused.
little girls love me, and it just so happens that the girls i go out with are younger than me, but i don't turn 18 untill tuesday.
so does that mean i've been a pedophile for the last 4 years of my life?
or was it ok to go out with girls younger that me, untill i'm 18

 

Heck, as long as you're within the same age range, you're not a pedophile. It also depends on the age difference too. If you're like 4-5 years apart, then no. But if you're after girls under 13 years old...that might be a problem. :huh:

i see a phedophiile as someone who is SIGNIFICANTLY older than someone else and taking advantage of their young minds and their desires. so as long as your relationships are genuine (meaning you're NOT taking advantage of anyone) then it should be fine, tho if you're a high school student, i don't think you have any business dating elmentary and middle school children.

 

That depends on how much older you are really, I know that in some states you can be within like 3 years of the person and be "sexually" active and not be charged as a pedo. Personally once I hit 18 I stopped date anyone that was younger than that, like not even a 17 year old because that is my lack of trust. But really it depends on the age difference in my opinion.

As long as it's an honest relationship and both of you are doing things together and you aren't taking advantage of her, then I don't see the problem.

 

Actually 4 years ago you were 13 or 14...
I'm actually not really sure but in my opinion no because you are just turning 18 which doesn't exactly mean that you are a pedophile.
As long as if the girls you date are not younger than 13 I guess.

 

I would have to say your not if you're dating a girl that's 16-18 years old. I think it's okay to date girls at that age.

Older guys do tend to date younger girls as a general rule though. Don't worry, you're fine.

 

It matters on the law of the area you live in. For Example, here in Texas, if you are the age of 17 or above and you're having a relationship and\or sexual relations with anyone four years younger than you.

 

My father met my mom when she was 17 and he was 22. Did that make him one? No, and then a little over a year later they got married. I think it's trust. Also, my dad looked rather young for his age. If your partner and her parents don't disagree of you being with them, then there shouldn't be a problem.

Depends on the law where you live. Also it kinda is a trust thing. Its up to the girl's parents really.

 

Since you are 17 and going to be 18 and may like girls a few years younger than you etc, that's not really pedophilia. You could date a girl that is 15 and it would be fine. However, due to laws in areas, you wouldn't want to have -sex- with the girl until she was legal to be safe. Now if you were 27 and wanted to date a 15 year old, that would be kind of different as that's not really in your age group.

I wouldn't consider 22 to 17 that bad either as 16 or 15 in most areas is legal to have a relationship. The thing is though that it depends also on the maturity of the two parties. Some 17 year olds are a lot more mature than others.

A pedophile really is a man or woman going after a school girl or boy because youthful girls or boys are really sexy to them. Since technically you are still a minor till 18 and even then you are still in the school scene and such, and not going for girls that are well, underdeveloped etc, that's not the case here. Just as I said and others have, watch the laws in your area because dating is one thing, but having sex with a minor is another. That can get you in some serious doo-doo.

 

It really depends on the age difference and how involved you plan to get. I steer clear of anyone younger than me. There are way fewer surprises that way.

 

I wouldn't really consider you one, if your withing the 4 year range. But then again, there is more of a difference depending on age. a 16 year old goign out with a 12 year old? doesnt really happen. 28 with 24? happens.

 

Well pedophile is commonly misused because it only refers to the attraction towards prepubscent children. If they're a few years younger then there's nothing wrong with that. Ephebophile, or the attraction to teenagers is alright though. Its so common amoungst adults that it actually isnt used to classify someone unless it becomes a real obsession. So yeah, at 18 it isnt really that bad to still go for the 14 and over range, its just that laws will prohibit many interactions that you guys can do. That plus parents tend to be wary of guys that are much older then their daughters. But you should try working at it with someone older though. Young girls have a horrible ideal of what love really is. Older gals are more experienced anyways~

Thank you Crono. You're the first person to fully acknowledge that pedophalia is the attraction to very young children. (There really is a distinction there between things that obviously aren't harmful and things that are IMO)
I myself would go so far as to say that it is a sexual preference. Think about it, what do they jack it to? Kiddie porn and the like. So if that is what excites them, I would classify it as a sexual preference, sick as it may be.
