You're not really ruining my childhood here. I saw a dead man hanging in the background in the original version of the movie. Considering I don't become attached to the actors of these movies, well not every actor anyway, I don't really care. Some people just take things way too seriously. People die, it happens. At least they'll be portrayed in entertainment for years to come after their death, right?

Seriously though, you can't ruin my childhood. I like finding all that weird **** anyway so really you're only improving upon my adulthood xD I honestly don't think there's anyway to ruin my childhood 0_0 I'm invincible!!!

That munchkin hanging thing was a myth, fyi.

 

It was one of the people on the cast/crew I believe. Of course nothing was ever admitted but in the new version you can't see it anymore. Just sayin.

Meh, doesn't really matter. If a suicide/accidental death can't ruin a movie for me I don't know what can. Also, I'd convince people it wasn't true too if I was trying to get the movie to sell ... actually I'd probably let it out and people would rush to stores to buy it anyway ... people are wicked like that.

At any rate, it's history now and we'll never actually know. Was it just false or is that just a conspiracy cover up? Who knows.

It's false.

The rumors didn't appear until long after the film's release (around 1989, when the movie released on VHS), when the movie had already reach its fame (and made a ton of money). The people debunking the rumor had little if anything to gain from it being false (like a Munchkin, who had surely already been paid for his role). Further, this completely ignores how film sets work--every inch of it is watched & covered by the crew. There's no way a suicide could have progressed without anyone noticing and, further, that the editing team would use the footage.

Unfortunately a lot of the little people used within this film had negative rumors spread about them (Judy Garland was kinda a bigot), I think this is one of them. It's all good and well to be entertained by and wonder about myths & legends, but you've also got to recognize the (overwhelming) evidence against them.

 

So far none of this has affected me at all. You're going to have to try much harder to ruin my childhood

Snopes spreads lots of phony rumours just to debunk them for their site. Who's to say that the rumours they "prove" false are actually false?

This is the sad part about growing up with a different language, nobody wants to ruin the childhoods of a people who only involves 22k people.

 

22k, are you sure; is it an official language? That's incredibly small. My second language is generally considered a dialect of Bulgarian when it isn't clean overlooked, and even then it's utilised by a country of 2.2 million inhabitants. I suppose yours wouldn't even feature in a linguistic or human geographic textbook.

 

Well, only a dozen or so people speak English. Maybe his language has a higher person:speaker ratio?

I'd never even heard of that rumour til now but I watched that little clip on that website and it's obviously an emu or ostrich, you'd have to be special to not see.
