I thought it was rather wasteful on their part, for he was very talented acne aside. He had quite the extensive filmography during the 40s-50s. Did you like musicals? Jack Wild (Artful Dodger from Oliver!) was survived by Ron Moody (Fagin). If you watched the film now, you'd never guess that little boy Dodge'd be dead but Fagin'd be alive. Wild had his vocal chords removed due to excessive smoking/drinking in 2001 I think, albeit he'd been sober for 20+ years. Oliver Reed (Bill Sykes) also drank to excess which caused a heart attack in his 60s. Wild started smoking/drinking when he was twelve years old. That stuff went 'round in the 70s.

Judy Garland (Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz) died by overdosing on barbiturates, and was constantly berated by execs for being 'unattractive' which lead to her self-image being frequently warped onscreen. A particularly touching song by her, from the heart;

OK, I'll concede that being involved in The Little Rascals serials didn't require much talent, just a cute and gullible chubby face + an audience full of mothers/grannies but how can you dis Judy Garland. She isn't an unknown actress, far from. Ron Moody is a theatre legend. Your taste escapes me.
