    So I watched the premier.
Without going into detail, It was alright.
I thought it was a little hard to follow at times, but all things considered I think it was pretty good for a pilot.
I'm excited to see where this show goes. I'm curious how much money is behind it (clearly a significant amount) and how we will see that in future episodes/seasons.

I so totally called Coulson not being dead. I don't know how, but my first instinct was "o they faked that to motivate the team." Not exactly what happened, but close enough.

I loved that Extremis played a part in this, I wasn't expecting that at all.

Was that guy supposed to be Luke Cage or something? I know next to nothing about the character but from what I've heard he seems a lot like this guy.

Wtf why were they all smiling after shooting the guy in the head? I thought he was supposed to die, but they said he's alright. I don't get it, I must have missed a line of dialogue or something.

Fitz and Simmons (the engineer and biochemist) turned up, presumably with an antidote. Fitz was with (um the guy with the gun) after he had shot him and had swapped his gun for a different one to the sniper gun he had before. Also when he went down Simmons was the one to run over to him and check that it had worked.

Actually, I just rewatched it and noticed it was the gun that those two were arguing about earlier in the episode, the "Night Night gun" as Fitz called it, they actually explain how it works and how it didn't kill him in their argument.

I did notice that it was the gun from the beginning but I completely missed the part about the antidote.

Well that wasn't explicitly said, he just set those two on finding a way to stop him exploding without killing him so I assumed that was what they'd got, antidote seemed like a good way to explain it. It might actually have just been the gun, as it allowed them to shoot him in the head like they mentioned earlier but without fatally killing him.

That makes sense and would be a nice way to do it if that's what happened. I'll have to rewatch the episode and see if there's a line or something I miss that explains it.

Well this is interesting. It seems an upcoming episode (airing Nov. 19 to be exact) will tie-in to the new Thor movie...

The problem of the series is that their main characters don't have any charism whatsoever.. Maria Hill + Nick Furry were the top two moments of the whole thing.

I really hope that they construct some kind of villian to end the season.. for now they are doing "Fringe kind of episodes" without the fun of Fringe... the plus side is that it alls occurs in Marvel universe!

The problem with this, though, is that the biggest drawing point of the show is something that rarely affects it. They keep bringing up the Battle of New York (which I understand, that changed the world's view on itself) and the Avengers, but it seems like that's just to draw in an audience with having very little merit of itself (I have no idea if I worded that correctly). I personally really like the show and I go in expecting a spy show -not a hero show- with, as the Gillian above me said, fringe elements, minus some of the 'fun of fringe.' Most of the other agents act like brief descriptions of characters with little depth (I love me some Fitz-Simmons, though). Not to mention, they're not using enough spy for the spy show, at least in my opinion. I'm hoping the stories and characters will get better. Also, it's a S.H.I.E.L.D. show, I'm fine with that, but I'm not seeing enough of S.H.I.E.L.D. itself.

I don't really see it as show about the organization as a whole, but rather, about a specific group working for said organization (hence the 'Agents' part of the title)

Which is understandable. And thankfully, they've shown more of the actual organization such as technology and other agents (not to mention Hill in the first episode and Fury in the second [or was it third? can't remember]), but I was hoping for a lot more SHIELD than just the one team that Coulson leads. It was even mentioned how they choose their own operations and aren't handed down missions from superiors. There's not enough...organization structure in the show for my personal tastes. Granted, those are my personal tastes, but it's still what I was hoping out of the show.

I see what you mean, though I guess they probably save all that stuff for the movies? *shrugs*

That's my guess. At least, for the Captain America movies primarily while mentioning them/showing them briefly in the other movies.

You mean to tell me that Skye and Coulson don't have charisma? Skye alone could carry the show. I've never been huge into Coulson like most, but he is entertaining.

I've heard that Whedon shows really come into their own after the fourth or fifth episode, and given how much a shift the most recent episode was tonally and how the stakes seemed to have been reaised, I think we've reached that point. The show will probably pick up from here. Although if spy shows aren't your thing you may not like it anyway.

I don't think skye is that great, if I were to compare with other series similar to SHIELD like FRINGE, X files, Homeland, or even investigation series like Law & order, criminal minds or even CSI... I can think of any group in those series that were not WAAAAY better than the Agents of Shield.. the only thing they have in their favour (like I've already said), is that they are in marvel universe! Some day events of THOR and CAPTAIN america can make changes in the series and stuff like that... but the show alone is very weak, all the characters are steryotipes with barely no charisma. But I have to recognize that the last 2 episodes were better than the first 3.
I do like spy shows, I just think Shield isn't that much as a spy show or heroes show.

Wow was it intense. There were a handful of things I didn't like but wow

Pretty sure the discussion for this ended up in the wrong thread

BUT DID ANYBODY SEE THAT LAST EPISODE?

I was so scared for Fitz-Simmons, but then realized how low the plane was. Is it safe to fly a plane that low to begin with?

Also, the show has been picked up for a second season. I'm still betting that Skye is an Inhuman (especially since there is an Inhuman movie in the works. Branch off the movie franchise to make a show then branch of the show to make a movie; Clever Marvel).

    Can't wait to see
    Nick Fury
    in the finale episode.

I'm pretty sure Fitz and Simmons are okay. I mean, they're too clever to just let themselves die like that. I too am excited to see Nick Fury, especially after the events of Captain America 2.
