well they made alot of obvous changes to final fantasy characters the name changes as being one of them. I like the original name better allthough i never heard it before. She is still alive she resides on hollow bastian/radiant garden, last seen in merlins house.

Kingdom Hearts is a different universe; it's not related to the FF worlds. ENIX basically just recycled some of the characters and dumped them in a new universe, that being Kingdom Hearts. :3 So you can forget the whole Sephiroth killing Aerith thing.

I like Aerith better~! Dunno why, just sounds nicer to my ears

I like Aeris better, since it's the original name...at least that's what my friend told me....Aerith is pretty, but it's not the original...

She's alive in Kingdom Hearts but not in FFVIIAC...

Hm, I've always used Aerith when I roleplay. I'm not very particular, but to keep up continuity I'd rather use Aerith.

She's alive in my roleplay! =D ..now if only someone would play her ._.; *shameless plug*

    Yeah i guess but,
why do they do that in the first place?
Oh wait!is it bc with her new name she hasn't died?
Or is it just for a change?
Maybe they wanted to put her in so much that,
they just changed her name so she would
be the same character but living...

Oh and something I dont get...
Cloud was standing right there at her death...
Was he sleeping or something?Or he was just to busy looking at the ground to see Sephiroth coming down at light speed(maybe not that fast..)
ready to stick his sword through her back?Hmm...

Aerith is her official name, as it's spelled that way in every newer game she has appeared in. I also like the sound of 'Aerith' better.
I wish they'd kill her off in KH too because I hate her VA.

Aeris is a mistranslation. It's originally spelled Aerith, but because of the crappy translation, it is mistakenly spelled Aeris.

    BTW Aerith > Aeris

    *sigh*

The answer is Aerith because if you translate the original Japanese text for her name, it translates to "Aerisu". People have been confused because of the "S" and therefore say her name is "Aeris". But in Japanese, well in this case, the "isu" is meant to sound sort of like the English "th". If you pronounce her name correctly, it would be "Air-ri-s-u", where the letter "U" is either whispered or devoiced.

The name was mistranslated, it came out Aeris in FF7. It's supposed to be Aerith.

Aerith, because it's her original name. There were so many poorly translated things in FF7 it's sad, her name was one of them.
Hrm... Did they use Aerith in Advent Children? I don't remember...

EDIT: Yup, they did. Just checked the credits. :D

The name was originally Aerith. For some reason, they changed it to Aeris in the English version. Not sure why...

Aeris is the offical one. But I prefere Aerith. It just sounds like it flows better for her character.

I don't play FF, so I prefer Aerith, but that's only because that's what I'm used to. I have heard people call her Aeris, but that name never really appealed to me.
