I made this the other day in class - I was following a tut that failed epicly, so eventually steered away from it and did my own thing with the effects the tut taught me. I kinda like it, but the effect the tut was going for didn't work as well cuz I didn't use a 3D render. http://s276.photobucket.com/albums/kk20/Sahjin/?action=view¤t=ZettaSlowcopy.jpg I want to find out if there's anything I should edit before I delete the Photoshop version and only save a JPEG (Photoshop files make my comp really full and I can't make other graphics...so I try to edit them as best I can then save only a flattened JPEG version). The text REALLY needs to change, I don't like it much at all. I wanted to give it an effect like overlay or something but that doesn't work on black. Or maybe I just need a different font? Idk...something needs to change imo. I'm going to make my username in the corner a lot more transparent so it's less noticable, but what should I do about the left? Get rid of the text completely, or use an effect? Any good graphic designers out there have any advice? This is one of my first sigs so I don't mind criticism, just no flaming please :/ Hmm...I'm not sure if Misty will attack me for the rule of thirds on this one... XD It's kinda inbetween where it should be and shouldn't be...idk, I'm sure I'll be told soon enough.
ty : ) sharpen as in filter->sharpen? EDIT : Oh yeh, just remembered, the blurred thing was part of the effect from the tutorial. But since I steered away from the tut a little, maybe the blur effect doesn't with w/ this sig. I'll give sharpening it a shot.
It's a good start. Make the text smaller and in simpler text, kinda like this: Link Don't use low opacity, it stands out more and is annoying because your main focus is the stock. After that, add a bit of effect to the right. Perhaps using displacement? If you don't know how to do that, you could look up a tut for it. (I would tell you, but I use GIMP, not photoshop, so I can't help you ._.) Also, NEVER save a sig to JPEG! It lowers the quality. Use PNG because the quality is sooo much better.
No JPEG? I didn't know that...ty for the tip. PNG is still a small file? That text is cool, but does it fit Minamimoto? I wanted something that was bold and loud like he was, but I also didn't want it to stand out so much.... ty for the advice, I'll look up a displacement tut and work on it when I get back to school (they have a better ver. of photoshop than I do)
What you've got now is great! I would listen to the Sharpening tip and Never use Jpeg. Another thing that i would like to add though: The colors you have chosen now are.. Quite boring. >.< You should try to add some contrasting hightlights of maybe a Dusty rose pink? Just to add a little more interest. =]
I don't want to tint it pink if that's what you mean :P Or do you mean add it some other way? Any tips or tuts for me to look at? Maybe I could put splashes of color in that corner where it's all black to catch the eye more, and some in the bottom right corner near minamimoto.
Yeah! Thats kind of what i meant. Just add a little more depth to the color choices. I was just using pink as an example. Adding some splashes of red or yellow would be great. ^^ I may not be an expert but i do think that those color choices would look good. Happy Photoshoppin!''
RULE. OF. THIRDS. D:< It's not so bad here as I've seen it before, but it still needs help. Stock needs some blending, and there aren't any foreground effects, but this is nice. The Sahjin text isn't so bad, but the text on the left is. Background is nice.
Ah, I knew that was coming...! XD If only I'd remembered while I was working on the sig :P Foreground effects? Is there a way to do that and get the color in like people were saying? Any advice or examples? I'd take some tips for the text, too, I really don't like it and want to figure out a way to say "so zetta slow" on the sig yet not have it look like that :(
