Adaware and Spybot are decent for cleaning up your computer a bit, and they are free. I would recommend getting both of them. However, for heavy duty Anti-Virus problems, you should get Norton AntiVirus.

Norton AntiVirus is pretty good, though it can demands updates quite often so if you hate that then its a no-no.

I personally use Ad-Aware, although I do remember hearing good things about one called Avast.

    No, NO, NO

Do NOT get Norton. Norton is one of the most common Anti-virus you can get, it is also the most easily got around. As it is so common a lot of people who have no life have created viruses etc that can easily get through Norton. If so many people have Noton then you can cause damage to more people. Plus it generally is less secure than others. If it works for you then sure, but I personally think Norton sucks ass :/ especially since a lot of new model laptops etc come with it already pre-installed.

Avast is pretty good, and so is AVG, both are free and both have very few problems as far as I am aware. I use Avast. Both are highly reccommended.

May I ask, o_O what are you currently using? pleasedontsaynothing >.<

Agreed, Norton also slows your system response time by a great fraction. Mcafee is about the same way but difficult to uninstall, it screws up your default and custom settings.

I would get Windows Live One Care (the full version), or Avast. I'd recommend 'Hijack This', but that's only for advanced users and it can get confusing if you don't know what you're doing. ^^

    my suggestions:

    Antivirus: AVG-Free
    Spyware: Spybot Search & Destroy

Thats what I use, have never had any problems, very easy interface, both are free.

pm me if you need this opened again, for now though im closing it as you've been sufficiently helped.
