Ace Attorney movie confirmed

My body was not ready for this xD. Seeing as how they mentioned that the movie will be using lots of CG and visual effects, I'm kinda hoping that the movie have a sort of Scott Pilgrim feel to it and that giant OBJECTION/HOLD IT! speech bubbles will be popping up on screen

 

I'm wary of live-action movies, so I'll reserve the right to give judgement until after I've seen it. CG and visual effects will 8e nice, I imagine.

I think the actors' appearances and clothes could 8e more accur8 though. Their current look 8ugs me. Fey's hair is red, not 8rown, Edgey isn't wearing the red jacket, etc.

 

Live action films like this rarely fail to be disappoint. I just hope they don't kill Ace Attorney. I love the series as a whole but it could be good or bad, depending on the actors and the plotline.

 

Well, they already have an official musical in Japan, so I guess this is just the next step xD. Very cool, though to be honest I would be surprised if it turned out very good x: It'll be interesting, at least.
If the effects are done right, it could end up great, but considering the comedic nature of the series it probably would have been better as an animated film... Guess we'll have to wait and see o:.

I agree with P, looking at the picture I'm not impressed by the characters.That could easily change though, so I won't judge it quite yet. It's an interesting idea, but it's such a weird choice of game made into film. xD

 

But a game about the legal system... when made into a movie, parents would be pretty glad and let their kids see it. That means plenty of cash flow.

Anyway I want my overly-dramatic OBJECTION! And if they used the pic from the games, I wouldn't mind it at all...

 

Is it bad that I still haven't played any of the Ace Attorney games yet. However, I'm a bit interested in how this all turns out. The thing that catches my eye is the director, Takeshi Miike. He's big in Japan with horror movies (the only one of his I've seen being One Missed Call), so doing a genre change may be taking a leap. I really liked One Missed Call because of the directing, so I'll be looking foward to this.

 

Is never having played an Ace Attorney game bad?

Correct answer:Extremely. They sell the full first game on the app store for five bucks though. Some minor menu and control changes keep it true to the original version of Phoenix Wright.

 

Oooh this looks interesting. I probably would have preferred it animated too though, I mean, who in their right mind wants to act as someone from the games like Jean Armstrong....*shudder*

I just hope it doesn't turn out like the avatar movie. That would ruin everything for me.

 

I feel sorry for whoever is acting as one of the crazies...

Anyway, M. night Shaymalan isn't directing this (thankfully!) so even if it were to be bad, it wouldn't be TLA bad...

 

Personally, I think it'd 8e a 8last to 8e one of the crazies. Who wants to act normal?

The idea of a genre change intrigues me. On one hand, horror-style AA would 8e worth a look. On the other, it could very well completely 8utcher the series.

I can see the film being horror for the actual murders and collecting evidence etc. That, or the film will be so bad it's scary. ;P

Wait wait wait...just because the director usually does horror movies doesn't mean that this movie will have horror elements as well.

Also the picture that I put in the first post isn't suppose to show how the actors are going to look like in the movies, it's just to show who is gonna play who. Chances are that there will be changes.

 

Oh wow, I've never played an Ace attorney game but I have wanted to (I just never found a copy of the first game for cheap). Games into live actions films usually doesn't turn out too great as we've seen from various films in the past like Avatar: the last airbender, Dragon ball, Tekken etc. I am with holding judgement though because I don't know and it would be a bad assumption to make. Whatever the case, I look forward to this and I just hope it's done well.

You're not alone, tummer. And that's interesting. One Missed Call was either the first or second horror movie I watched with friends. That ring tone was playing in my head the whole night that day. >_> And I agree with you Ienzo. Dragonball and Airbender were pretty terrible...I've never even heard of a Tekken movie. I've seen the Death Note movie and it's not bad, but I'm also a bit cautious for this. Who knows how it'll go.

 

I only have one thing to say, this better be good.

They're very faithful to the look of the characters to the point of looking almost ridiculous.
Oh yeah and the movie has been confirmed for an international release by the Director himself.

Also I'm not sure if this would be considered against the rules to revive this thread, it is new information relevant to the topic. :\

 

So far of the trailers I watched it looks like its going to be good. At least they got the hair and clothing right, not like that Higurashi movie I watched.

 

Wow... I really hope it's good, as it sounds good already, and I hope they dub or sub this in English.

There have been rumors that Capcom is not going to be translating the next Gyakuten Saiban and Gyakuten Kenji games (correct me if those rumors were proven false), so I hope they don't do the same for this movie!
